So what does a roller like this really cost to build... or buy???
Feel free to ask away in the comments! I’m always active and answering the questions.
Stay tuned as I dive into the work required to build and maintain the cars I create from this 2-Car garage. Future projects will include fab work and welding, general welder setup and tutorials, chassis work, weight reduction, suspension plotting and setup, wiring, tuning, boost controller setup, power management, racing videos, ice cream cruises, etc.

Great video. Super stoked you mentioned Moore Chassis, I personally think they do a great job. One small detail people seem to skim over, is the cost of tooling alone if you decide to take on a project like this yourself. Excited for the future vids on this beast.
That’s a great point. A nice notcher and tubing bender can easily be 5-10k. Welder, supplies, the list keeps going…
Thank you! We appreciate the kind words!
Cameron gets a premium cause he offers full service history , design advancement , progressive chassis who has won in your chassis
You're not wrong on the numbers, it's crazy money to race at this level. And you're right about building it yourself because the parts cost what they cost no matter how you got them. The key to getting started is to source a decent roller like you've found and finish it out your way. You're still going to spend a ton of money but no where near the cost of building one from scratch. The trick is finding a nice roller, not some cobbled mess. Great video and awesome information for anyone who don't know what they're getting into to go racing.
$66,000. Love your videos joe! Just got the time to watch this one. Good information for anyone trying to get into a car like this!
Thanks 💪🏻
Welp... As a new owner of a fairly stock fox I may be a little over my head with this 😅. The dream is still alive none the less! Great vid as always!!
Thanks 💪🏻
I just bought a older x275 car roller wasn't near the build of you parts but the brand name stuff is there but it's a steel 25.5 car with optic front and rear, 9inch, stange center section, stroud chute, wing, fire suppression, fiberglass front and hood, tube front, wheels suspension and more
I'd guess 45k
I got mine under 20k 2 weeks ago
I’m going to say you found someone that was keeping their drivetrain for a different car and wanted to get rid of this one. You got a deal, 57k. It’s a sick little Foxbody, looks like it’s going to be lots of fun. Love your videos man!
Thanks!!
I definitely think you can save a good chunk of money by buying a roller already done that's been raced a season or two. I've been looking for a roller casually for about 6 months or so. It really is hard to find a nice car worth the money some of these cars are bringing. Solid information here Joe!
Thanks! Good luck on your search!
One the best vids I have ever seen on UA-cam!
Thanks 💪🏻
A wicked mustang like that .. with all the fab work and extras it came with .. 100rack$
I’m going to say you paid 60000 for the car and thank you for the content I really enjoy your videos!!! The technical information is so helpful to people like myself trying to build a car similar to yours.
Thanks!!!
I'm gonna say you got a deal in $68k. New to your channel, but digging it already! Can't wait to see the rest of the build.
Thanks! Glad you’re here 💪🏻
My wild guest for the Mustang I would say 68,000
I enjoyed the video quite a bit. My guess would be 80k, and you got a deal
I have been learning some of these hard lessons updating an older 8.50CM car. Chassis work and car parts in general are so much more than they were, even just 10 years ago.
Anyway can't wait 'till your next video
Thanks!!!
I'm gonna guess 63.5k but love the info. Can't wait to see the progress
Thanks!!!
I'm going to guess 79,500. Really enjoyed this video. Thanks for the great content!
Thanks 💪🏻
75500 is my guess. Great car looks like it will be a winner.
$127,500.00
And it's sad that it takes as much as it does just to have a decent street rod, it's easy $50,000.00 nowadays, and I am not talking something hacked together.
Something that you would take your family in on a vacation to see something within 300 miles, in comfort.
But runs good but still gets affordable fuel mileage.
Nice ride Joe, and the times we live in are brutal compared to when I was building my own rides back in the mid 70's.
Isn’t it crazy what this stuff costs? But technology and parts have also become next level over the last 10 years.
Hey man loves these videos!! Keep them coming I am going to sat around 78K is what you paid.
Thanks!
Anarchy is freedom has lost his mind if he thinks a 1500 dollar roller will run with a 100,000 roller. Maybe in a ice storm
$150k sure is pretty. Great show.
I say $65,000, can't wait to see this build 😎
$48k after negotiations. Now put a Wilkins racing engines FR09 nascar motor with some twins and you would be different for sure 👍
I think the both of you split the difference $ 77,500. Let me know if you ever plan to move to Nashville Tennessee...
$62,500 for the roller. Awesome looking car, looking forward to seeing it make a serious hit!
Thanks
I’m at 35k and mine isn’t done yet. Im doing it all myself and a friend. But it’s not with a 25.? Cage it’s a 8.50 but he’s not lying. It gets out of hand fast. Be prepared to give your first born.
you can find a car like that for 30k, but it might take longer to find it, than it would be to build it. i would say you bought that car for 50-60k. which probably about half of what it cost to build it. we got a S/T car, bought it from someone, im not gonna mention the price, original build price was 120k from a really well known builder
💪🏻
My guess is 70k? In saying that your a very gifted person so the prices you are saying could be achievable But for your average Joe blow to have a car like that running gear and all done buy pro's would be a 200 to 250k car
Turn key... All done by a shop. Yes 200k+ for sure...
I’ve got a super clean 1991 hatch lx 2.3 rust free original red paint running and driving posted for 6.5k in Houston! Did the 5 lug swap from a SN95 new shocks and struts headlights window motors and door handles check it out on FB
Appreciate the information - keep up the great work - my guess $53,500
Thanks!!!
Great video My guess is that You must have spent at least 128K for that roller . Good luck Best Wishes . 🇺🇲🇵🇷🦊👍
Thanks
Im gonna guess cause i want free random parts 😂 $55750 Video was great! Thank you for the shout out!
Great vid as always, my guess is 62K
Thanks
I’m guessing $60k? Great video! It definitely adds up. My “budget” build is still more expensive than most would ever realize.
Thanks! Yeah even budget builds can cost crazy money. Junkyard motors can be had for a few hundred bucks and then the electronics to run it cost 6 grand or more! 😂
@@StreetCarJoe yes! I had my sbe 4.8 sitting on the shelf but everything else has been crazy. I even decided not to do paint and the true mini tubs yet and it’s still outrageous.
$70,700 is my guess. Great video
Thanks
Appreciate your videos Joe. I’m guessing about $95k
Thanks 💪🏻
Guessing on parts pricing and wait time and the how hard it is to find one at this caliber with the extra parts. I’m saying your into it for $52,500
i.have ALL of my receipts to build mine pulled from a field. no paint patina, all steel street mopar. yall have no idea how expensive this all is and im on the low side of cost id say. built by a pro whos cars win all the time.
I believe you paid 69,950. It’s a steal at that price .but still ridiculous the whole idea of small tire is to save money typical racers pricing themselves out of site .might a well go with big tires safer and faster .
I would say around 65k
As interesting as this may be the $numbers scare the heck out of the common working man. We want all of the things you detailed but will have to settle for much less unfortunately.
55,000.00
Love the car and I would 55k to 60k
73,500
$78900 wild guess
52,787
55.5
49,750
64k with everything.
Not long winded at all... Worth between$120-150 I say you paid $70-80
I’d have to guess 65k
85K
76k
Your vid wasn't boring at all, but was very informative for people interested in the cost breakdown.
So many other items that’s excluded. It’s no surprise it costs $150k - 200k. Engine, trans, wiring, plumbing, cooling, electronics it’s a lot. I say a roller like that you could expect to pay $85k
This price breakdown made me feel poor 😂 I’ll stick with my manual car 👀 see what I did there
I refuse to watch unless you coyote swap
I refuse to talk to you until you feed me… and clean my garage floor
Yea Dave feed the man 😂
So cool, I'd say 130k on a roller, and 220 race ready, depending on boost, turbo or nitrous, you gotta have 250k to be real competitive from there it's a money pit, but if you got it, I can't think of a better way to spend, great videos!
125k and saved you a year of time
Guess would be owner asked $50,000 and you haggled to $43,000. And that shows when people say 25cents on a dollar it’s not real. Yes you might find the fire sale but.. an educated person had that car built and he knew what he had into it. If you paid more I wouldn’t think you did bad either. Great vid!
Street car Joe… I’m guessing 100k grand
I would love to have a race car bulit like that for STREET racing, but I can't afford it.ima very hard worker &easy learner to damn near anything I can do..just that I cannot afford to,I wish I had sum help&or s sponsorship or something.its my dream.because I can race with the best of them.. would really be nice to have a race car
I say you paid around 67,500. Love your videos. I would like to see more videos on wiring. Thanks for the great videos
Thanks! I have a lot of wiring vids coming with this new car, trying out alot more different stuff with it
85K- and time plays a huge part. You can be doing other jobs that bring in money instead of putting hundreds of hours into a ground up build . Love the channel . Can wait to see what the cost was .
John gibbons race cars in NC sells a 25.3 welded chassis fully welded out for about 4K
Appreciate the content Joe. I'm guessing with the lack of availability for anything and everything the roller was around 80k. I know everytime I place an order the lead time is 8 weeks to 6 months.
I’m guessing you stole it at $65,100.23 ,a Rooster and bag of chips 🤔🤞
About time realistic numbers. I would say I would give 57k.
To 60k.
I'm gonna say because you decided to buy it and not wait, I'll guess high. 83k
If you got a smoking deal 58k. But with the other parts I'd say 68k
Damn Joe, im over here sweating the small stuff man lol. This shit is not cheap! Bacon is 6.00, trucks are 70-80 grand, diesel is over 5.00, lol. Guess i need a second job haha. Im going to guess 58k on the hotrod.
Everything is pricey right now for sure!
Super nice ride…..I’m gonna say right around $80,000 rolling with all the electronics etc 😳
Sure hope someone repurposed coupes ! They are being destroyed at really fast rates 😢
Can i comment my guess? hahaha
😂😂😂 You may not
I think you sell yourself short Joe, I 100% believe you could build one as well as any of the big names, and better than some of them. You might not do it as fast as them, but you'd kill it.
Appreciate the kind words 💪🏻
I’m guessing about 55k. I’ve been around this car lot when it was a sb NOS grudge car in MI. It has always been one bad dude. I’m glad to see it’s gonna be back. Badass man.
Thanks! Yeah it was a bad dude when it was up there! Hopefully I can continue the awesome reputation!
I'm going to go low and say $58,000 and thanks for the video
97800 I am just guessing. with it being a roller already.
Awesome breakdown and I'm glad you mentioned Tin Soldiers, they do AMAZING work, their cars are really fast, and they're super humble people!
Thanks! And yeah tin soldiers are top notch! I’d love to get some chassis work done by them on one of my cars 💪🏻
I’d guess you paid $56k. Hoping you got a killer deal.
If you wanna build a drag car either do it yourself or... Save up and buy a new rebuilt car.
35k
My guess is $62,850
You know what SAD, Many times when your done, it's cheaper to buy a roller with all the good parts then go from there. Just my thoughts. Nice Car God bless
Spoke before video. I'd say 115 to 130 grand you have. Very very nice Car. I wish you the Best
Thanks!!!
This confirms I’ll only be able to afford bracket and index racing in this life 😂
I would have to guess $65k to $70k for the car.
appreciate you and cj doing videos like this. doing this kind of work isn't cheap and I'm amazed by the people that come in and think you can build a nicer roller for under 10k. I'd guess your in the 65k range on your roller
Man right, hell I am having to ship my truck 200 miles just to get the work done because there's no shops closer so that's an extra cost not factored in.
@@damianlindsey6177 yeah I had to learn to do everything myself or pay out the ass to get it done if you can even get it done within reasonable time
$45k? Had to play along. But I have no clue.
I would say $170,000 for your roller
How can i get in touch with you ,to maybe put a holly system on my fox body please???
sales@scjfab.com
My guess is $37k some people over look all of the small things that’ll nickel and dime you on a build and they add up quick.
40 k
$5000 for a shell for a mustang probably right but probably not a first gen chevrolet
Correct, all my numbers are for a fox...
Put some sound deadening squares throughout your garage ….car is sick A.F though
Too much echo??? Thanks!! 💪🏻
A original fox body shell price is expensive now without any modification
Crazy expensive. 4cyl roller with clean paint will bring 6-8k easy…
"OK, so what does it "really" cost to build a...." - There really is no concrete answer for such a question!!
I can buy a roller for anywhere from $1500 to $120,000! I've also raced using a $1500 chassis against $xxx, xxx chassis' and won! Time and time again!
There's just way more to this question than just cost! There are also many different UA-cam channels, with people running anything and everything, from pristine, high quality, high expense racecars, to old, rusted metal, flapping quarter panels in the breeze "junkers" (it's all ones perception), and everyone of them winning races!
With the advent of modern technology, and free and open information today, just about anyone with half a braincell can build a 1500-3000hp drag car, and win races! Add on top of that no prep type racing and running small tires, and the playing field gets leveled real fast!
10 grand for paint sheeesh... paint dont make you go fast...68589
So true! 😂😂😂
Love the channel. I'm guessing 115k
An LS is only $500.00...your good to go!!! ;)
Im thinking of doing this video as well on my car because i have an excel file with every single dollar spent and Its lexan and wrap from being complete.
I would love to see it detailed like that. I have spreadsheets of everything from the roller and past I will be sharing when the build is complete 😎
$1 plus Dave’s trailer rental fee and fuel. Total of $58,750
😂😂
My car is a 86 mustang. I did all the machine work on my race engine and cylinder head work. I built the a custom wiring harnesses. It’s all Team Z suspension front and rear. I did all of the fabrication work to the car. I didn’t build the transmission. My car runs low 10’s with a non stroked 351-W on a 50 shot with a mechanical flat tappet cam.
I’m into it for around $20K I’m sure the car can handle low 9’s with the bigger and badder Cleveland that’s going in next. It’s very expensive and a lot of time. This car has cost me a couple of girlfriends…lol
