    Hi, its great seeing young people giving this a go, here is a couple of tips to help you 1] please don't get under your car while the engine is running, 2] gloves aint half a bad idea to help keep you clean, 3] try using a heavy duty plastic bag put over your filter as u unscrew it, will help to catch the oil, 4] fill up your new filter with the new oil before putting it on, you will be surprised in how much it takes to fill it up. Thanks for the content, keep up the good work!

      Agree on pre-filling the new filter, I think my NS takes over a Liter in the filter alone, I’m due a service so will measure and let you all know!!

    Thanks Bia! First oil change for my "new" 2007 NS. Definitely helped.
    I was surprised by how much the dip stick lied to me. Filled it, ran the engine, checked dipstick again and it was below low. Waited. It came up a little to just below low.

    Nice but during a normal oil change these engines take 8.5l. It is true that the engine takes 9.8l in total but when you drain the oil, about 1.3l stays in the oil cooler. So you should not fill it with 9.8l. I did it once and it was overfilled. After that, I always check the oil stick in the process of filling it up 😊

      @bia4x4 Have you tried using an oil filter wrench to take the filter off?

      Thank you I've definitely improved a lot from this upload and use a plastic bag over the oil filter when unscrewing it so it dosent make ad much of a mess.

      Yeah cheers 😊, done a few more changes since this video and I've been doing it. But I only fill about half, bc of the weird angle the filters on

    If you pull the dipstick out a little, the oil flows into the sump a little easier when you fill. If you park with the drivers side lower then the passenger you can make a alfoil “slide” for the oil to flow over and into the oil tray , when removing the oil filter. Roll it into a dirty ball toss in the bin after .

    some tips for you:
    - always prefill oil filter with fresh oil before installation (your timing chain will thank you)
    - oil filter tightening torque: approximately 3/4 turn (or 22 N·m)
    - oil drain plug must be install with a new gasket and tightened to 39 Nm
    - after refill the engine with new oil, always check the level before start the engine
    - after engine start, check for oil leaks
    - last, change oil more frequently, your was to much dark

    Good job, nippon max are great as they have the little drain bolt in the bottom so now no more mess for ya next time. And no need to fill oil filter with oil like others have said, because if you do that oil will not be filtered before it enters the engine. Don't worry about the gloves just get dirty lol.

    • @bia4x4
      @bia4x4  Рік тому

      Thanks, I'll look into those Nippon ones, anything to make it a little less messy😅 I recently did my filter change again and used a plastic bag over it but didn't check it before hand and it had many holes so i created more of a mess as I didn't have as many rings with me

    Was that oil rubbed around the outer ring at 4:00?

    I notice you are tightening the filter with just the strength of your hands. Is that adequate enough? The possibility of it coming off over time?

    • @bia4x4
      @bia4x4  Рік тому +2

      It's more then edequate enough, you don't want to tighten with tools or u can over do it and it not come off.

    • @georgem579
      @georgem579 Рік тому +1

      Filters should be tightened about 1/2 turn after the gasket seats, use oil to lube the seat so you don’t stuff the rubber o-ring.Use disposable gloves from Bunnings as oil is carcinogenic. Warm up the oil and engine first and yes it’s a bit harder to do but it picks up all the shit that settles out when cold. Pre-filled filter if possible, don’t overfill. Underfill and check with dip stick, a few times of needed before starting engine. Drive a bit and check again. Great work, good to see someone doing DIY and making great vids. Loved your head unit replacement vid too
