it's a lot easier when you're told there's a forced checkmate, then you just need to find the forcing move that compromises the king the most and then find how to take advantage of it
seriously Morphy's level was insane, I don't think anyone else can play multiple simultaneous blindfolded games and still create masterpieces like this one...

The blindfolded masterpieces are 100x better than the games we watch these days in online tournaments. This is what chess is about. Art, almost magic, elegancy.

Then I see "Seriously, How Does Something Like this Happen?" and Morphy with Thug Life sunglasses, and can't resist. What was I even thinking? Nothing's more entertaining than agadchess.

How in the world does one see combos like this?!? Even after being told that it's a mate in 6, even after given unlimited time, I STILL couldn't see it. But once it was shown, the beauty is inescapable. Just sheer genius.

Morphy’s mastery of chess just seem to have no end. And Boucher wasn’t even playing that badly, just that Morphy’s (blindfolded) abilities soar way above those of his opponent. Way, way above... Morphy was clearly playing Chess at a level that his opponents didn’t even realise was possible. (My sympathies to them all !!)

Like Bierwirth, this guy left his queen totally out of position to assist in the defense of the king. I suppose he wasn't accustomed to playing people who knock down the king's fortress like it wasn't there, and didn't realize his queen needed to be in a position to stop such an assault.
