- Britain should cut off any more funding to France if it continues to escort migrant boats across the Channel, Nigel Farage has said.
His comments came as the number of people crossing since Rishi Sunak became Prime Minister passed 50,000.
Mr Farage, the Reform UK leader, accompanied by reporters, took a catamaran into the Channel as he set out his party’s plans for stopping the boats.
Within three hours of it going to sea, a dinghy packed with 45 migrants was spotted approaching the Channel’s 12-mile midpoint, having been escorted across the still waters from the north of France by the Minck, a rescue vessel contracted to the French Navy.

@stephen.v5122 The French actually stop a substantial number of immigrants trying to cross the Channel. The problem they have is that there are several hundred miles or more of beaches to watch and once the migrants are in the water they are not allowed to stop them for safety reasons.
There's nothing controversial about it. We have the right to take them back to France and did just that many years ago before all the do-gooders got involved,😡

We don't know where to return them to. France literally physically don't take them back because they don't want to. Because of Brexit we can't complain to the EU any more we lost that control of our borders. If we force them back into France using our Navy, France will force them back into the UK using their Navy.

They know this. That's why they're saying it. They can look to be 'doing something' by chasing gangs and spending billions as well as years trying to prosecute them (and it will only end at most with a few years jail time. Meanwhile, people can continue to flood the country, as is both Labour and Conservatives plan. They'll get them working for the lowest wages they legally can all while working on getting them the right to vote. The people will suffer, sure, but the politicians will get their money all while conning the country into thinking they're trying to help the world.

What's controversial about enforcing borders? I enforce mine every day when i lock my street door & close my gate. If the EU & therefore France is a safe country , why are the French navy escorting illegal migrants to hand over to British border force & the RNLI? Why are the French & British authorities aiding people smuggling & allowing criminals to leap frog over genuine refugees? OK I'll go slow. We have no authority to stop the boats in French waters - once the boats are in UK waters, they are our responsibility. We can't ship boats of immigrants to France any more than they can ship them to the UK.

Those migrants are currently French residents and the embarkation is from France, so they should be returned to their country of residence and embarkation. Perfectly legal to do so. The government is deliberately bringing them in. Starmer has said that he would allow even more in. Only Reform have a policy to stop this.
No it is not perfectly legal to return them to France. Quite the reverse in fact, Britain would be fined if they did so. Just the usual lies from Farage and Reform.
We in Australia RAPIDLY stopped illegal immigration via boats dead.
It was VERY, VERY EASY.
As soon as a boatload of 'refugees' was detected by satellite or plane surveilence, we sent the Australian Navy to turn the boat back to where it came from.
This was only done a couple of times, and the people-smugglers then had nothing to sell, and INSTANTLY they were out of business.
Of course, the 'refugees' tried a few things; they scuttled their boats a few times, leaving the Navy with a choice whether to pick them up or to let the sharks have them.
Naturally, the Navy picked them up - but then transported them back to their port of origin anyway..
All boat arrivals stopped instantly.
