Same problem with me, we only have one trumpet who can SOMEWHAT play this, I really want it cause its so easy on sousa but it will be a long time before our band is good enough to play it sadly
Southern University has the best arrangement. For HBCUs and most high shool showbands even, this is a regular go to. I remember being in high school and listening to the corps marching schools talk mess about how we weren't a real marching band with their little 10 song stand repertoire. Meanwhile we had a good 50 plus songs committed to memory, and sweat beading off of us at the end of a show. Don't mean to sound salty, but yea. Show bands (Military Style) marching bands get the best gigs too.
That’s why I’m tryna go to an HBCU. In my band we play like almost the same stand tunes but still use flip books and in the stands. Them HBCUs play so many songs and it’s not always the same each game.
@@michaeledgerton3508 definitely go to an hbcu the energy is like no other in any university✊🏻 those flip books in the stands are honestly a disgrace. Music should be memorized no excuses. All power to you brother
as someone who has only marched in PWIs and Corps style bands, i like the entertainment element of show style. I think corps style focuses on playing technically challenging music with precision, though. they’re really very different styles. if i’m at a band competition, i wanna see a corps style band with some hard af woodwind runs with a front ensemble and all that (there’s also a lot of technique involved in trying to make it seem as if our heads are floating). if i’m at a parade or football game however, i think show bands are nice because they can play loud, lay down some beats, and get people clapping.
Playing this at football games freshman year was awesome. I loved this song so much because it was one of our most hyped songs that we played. Im going to be a sophomore next school year and I play tuba at cy-fair high school. I just gotta say this song is so hype.
we played this but not exactly like this sheet music, it sounds amazing both ways. the student section and drill team go psycho when we play our version of it
I play clarinet and every other week we ads a new stand tune and we just added this one and us clarinets are having fun with it same with pass the peas and hey song and land and word up and some others I can't think of the name and don't get me started on the stand dance (drum cadences) we get down with them like this is my first year marching and I love it so much
I love playing this song at our football games whenever I was part of the Vidor pirate marching band least have fun with this song this would be the only song we could move in Grease 2
Still have a hard time hittin that octave F on the sousa. The only song i hate having to play because of that. Minus Final Countdown cause i never memorized it
The tubas can opt as bass trombones as well. I mean seriously, It isn’t playing any notes below F2, so this means if you were playing this line on bass, you can play one octave lower than written.
Was at a football away game, tryna play the fight song but couldn't cause they played this song for 5 plus minutes non-stop and then we lost the ball. 5 MNIUTES STRAIGHT. Trumpets had to be dying.
Nothing to start off your very first time in marching band like THIS
Maku Marker right we had to learn this in a week
Maku Marker. Nothing compares
Welcome to marching band
Kiya Lynn we learned it in a day
Maku Marker it’s the most popular stands tune in my band cause we have a fun visual that goes perfect with it but I still haven’t learned it
This is literally the best stand tune I've ever heard

Seven nation

@@bruhmoment3507 👎
@@bruhmoment3507 seven nation is a pwi tune and it sounds boring compared to this imo
That horn part is insane. Love it!
Quickscope One Eighty I assume French horn?
Quickscope One Eighty i can do that part
Teejay 12 its trumpet
No this whole arrangement is insane I love it i'm so glad i'm a Music Major. I can't wait to be a band director!
I'm a Mellophone player and the Mellophone part is insane🔥🔥
We play this at football games and, man, is it fun to play. It's nice to have the melody most of the time as a clarinet player.
Yuhhh #clarinet
Noah Clayton I’m a trombone player also
cmon who doesnt love neck #mellophone ;)
⁰
As a trumpet player, we don’t need you
Can we get an f in the chat for those brass players who died during 4th quarter trying to play this

Bruh Neck in 4th quarter is the best part of the game

i played the sousaphone part for this, by far the best song we had. if only our trumpet section was as good as this one is

This is literally the BEST stand tune for Mellophones 🔥🔥
Once, I played with with a band of over 800 people... IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When the trumpets play higher than the flutes...
Heck yeah!!!

Facts
Isn’t it how it should be?
In the marching band the trumpets are the flutes
this song is so chaotically organized its awesome. too bad my band director wont ever play it😔
Mine keeps saying it's to high for the freshie trumpets 😫
@@sectorisclear7301 same here (althought it definitely is) I played it at a college marching camp tho so it was super fun.

yeah blasting those quarter notes is so fun playing it as one of my stand tunes for my college for basketball games

My band director showed this song to us and I got chills it's so good
Im a trumpet player, i have been playing for 2 years now and im 14. This was an exiting peice for me to learn
Successfully ripping up to that high C on mello is just such a wonderful experience
I almost gave myself whiplash bopping a hornflash to this on the sax part back in the day.
This is such a beautiful arrangement, It is so amazing to know that this originated from Historically Black Colleg Universities.
our dance to this is literally moving our instruments with our neck and it’s literally the best thing 🙌🙌🙌
When everyones talking about how fun their part is but you play snare
We used to trade off solos throughout the drumline for this whole song, made it a lot more interesting
Bro I just said “it’s a really fun stand tune” and I’m a snare lmao
Literally me
I know right
Unfortunately this is the case for me in my marching bsnd
I would love to hear the Marching 110 of Ohio University play this. A traditional college band with a show band feel. They would kill this
Check out southern university version of Neck. It will blow your mind.
+Luis Valdes It didn't blow my mind.
I think that's the most well known version and we all know their tone is terrible.
SU will only blow out your eardrums. They tend to enjoy trying to play as loud as they can without consideration of tone and dynamics.
Dude, get on with all that. Don't confuse loud
With power.
Had my speakers muted, so i turned them on, then the speakers blasted FULL VOLUME. I almost shat my self
They play this song at almost every football game at my high school 🥲
the rips for mello & alto 😫
XxFrankiexX right!
My directors on my ass about those
WHERE MY TUBAS AT

Chant is the best part. We always sing the chant even if it has to be cut off before.
Literally the best stand tune hands down
Best Stan tune especially for us Sousas
We started to learn this in marching band and i LOVE IT!!!!
Either this is both awesome and insane, or I haven’t seen very many Grade 4-5 pieces! Trumpet 1 is going top of the band!
I’m a clarinet player but the horn part is my fave !!!!
we played this but not exactly like this sheet music, it sounds amazing both ways. the student section and drill team go psycho when we play our version of it

My college band plays this, cold hearted, and word uppppp
best arrangement I've ever heard than the other standtunes
Our school played a different version of this, it has a build up at the beginning before it gets to the main part which makes it more anticipating.
Right! And when its a slower tempo too
the most 16th notes i've ever seen in one song
