@@steveheist6426Meh, they seem to be getting their act together recently.
They had massive layoffs after joe blackburn lost his 1v1 to the overload champion
Joe: Who ever helped in designing this level should be canned.
...
Wait a minuet...
Pete: _wE kEpT tHe RiGhT pEoPlE_
So I guess the composer who's been with you since 1997 wasn't one of the "right people"
My guess is that Final Shape's music is done so they thought "oh you don't need to be on payroll anymore." Which ofc is atrocious and a tremendous slap in the face regardless
(completely sarcastic) Of course not, the right people are those who don't complain, are completely new, and do the bare minimum.
(as you can probably tell i dislike what pete is doing to bungie.)
They also fired Salvatori and Sechrist. They're actually trying to kill the game
Wow for real?
No way they got rid of Salvatori. It might be so over
@@wood5596 sad to say it but yeah he is gone.
From what I can gather, Lorraine McLees (Has been at Bungie since 1998-1999 with such work as art director, graphic designer and illustrator for ONI, all through Halo while lending an additional voice as the '343 Guilty Spark' Pelican Pilot & throughout Destiny) was also found herself among those laid off from Bungie's staff.
Assuming '(AT)mehvechan' is indeed her Twitter account, her own words to another Bungie employee who was among the layoffs was "I feel for you. ( hugs ) I was laid off too. Tenure was no shield."
Game is dead once Final Shape is released. We've played for 9 years with little innovations and we're tired of the same stuff.
This has the same energy as the "FUCK YOU BALTIMORE" ad lmao

Peter Parsons is now in the

John Riccitiello, the father of the loot box
@@B1izzardHawk the man who also proposed (but thankfully was rejected) that Battlefield implement a "pay $1 to reload" system.
(Not a dollar per mag, but a dollar to *reload* the mag. The difference being one you might be able to save the leftover ammo from previous mags, and the other being that whenever you reload, whatever you had in that last mag cannot be retrieved. Still bad, but could've been even more expensive of a scam.)
The audacity of Pete to fire Bungie Employees, including the composers who have been there for 20 years while he's held the throne of CEO for a handful of years now.
Another thing that came out from this is that some devs revealed that they have been BEGGING to add features and design stuff that fans have wanted in the game forever. The devs are worried about the retention dropping and so they want to make the game better, but corporate won't let them work on that stuff
I hate to play Devil's (or Parson's) advocate here, but from a business perspective that makes sense. Bungie isn't going to do much after TFS and those episodes, which will probably be story events copy-pasted into pre-existing layouts, kind of like the renewed "Arms Dealer" strike, or some now opened side paths, like the one in the original Arms Dealer strike for DMT quest, or that repurposed D1 route in Fallen Saber from the near end of Season of the Seraph.
They're paying the employee to work on a game they (execs) are no longer invested in, and the employee doing so would perhaps divert others away too if they need help implementing it. So long as they believe the money coming in with the game in its current state would be similar, or the loss would be acceptable, to the amount if they were to invest in polishing it up, Bungie execs won't bother with fixing.
@@LastRookiewhich is why I am sure that the fallout from this will not be understood at all.
I have learned one important thing about execs working in retail. Rarely do they do something that is based in reality. Execs have managed to improve our self checkout machines so much that I don't know why they haven't gotten rid of them completely.
FINALLY SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS! I have been saying for so long that the devs are not the issue, it's the higher ups but people just DON'T LISTEN. The hate is always at the devs and not at the greedy fucks up top.
Flashback to the TED talk Bungie gave a few months ago where they said that it's more profitable to ship an unfinished product.
was almost expecting just 24 seconds of laughing
As a big fan of Destiny 2:
Yeah, pretty much. I've been brought to tears by just how angering this whole situation is.
Can't wait to see what Final Shape but slapped together by H1B's and AI is gonna look like

Up Next: CD Project Red confirms Battle Royal mode for it's next Cyberpunk game.
And it’d be completely broken at launch only being well regarded 2-3 years and a whole anime later
@@GaussTheWarframe I have a lot more faith in CDPR than I do Bungie. I think they've actually learned their lesson, and will probably take their time with the next game..
@@beardedgearhead1327 I hope so, cyberpunk has been an absolute joy and it would suck add if they squandered their second chance
@@GaussTheWarframe Agreed, I'm on my second PL playthrough, and I'm having a lot of fun. If the next game is as good at launch as this game is now, I'll be happy.
What probably happened was that the people who were working on the Final Shape and finished their work got laid off because they were costing too much to remain working when they had finished. Hence why the 2 Musical Michaels were laid off too. I'm not defending it, but it's probably the truth.
this was indeed the Lightfall year, even for bungie themselves
Nose? I was thinking neck
Little ol' Petie really has shown everyone exactly how much of a PoS he is huh? He looks like every generic, money grubbing CEO I've ever seen.
"Look what theyve done to my boy"
On an unrelated not I’ve heard that mission track about 30 times in one sitting trying to do it on legendary I both love and hate it
bungie is the type of developer that would play titan and unironically eat glue.
Because all Bungie higher cares about is the held up on a pedestal Titans

Never have I thought this will be relevant again…
What even are the reasons for the layoffs? They got the fattest paycheck of their lives not even a year ago.
And word around the grapevine is that they fired Mr. Salvatori. You know, Marty O'Donell's partner during the later days of the Bungie Halo era and the guy who understands the certain needs of this music.
Yeesh.
Bungie following the Activision trend. Nice 👍
I’ve never seen this channel before but I’m definitely subscribing now! 😂
Bungie's giving EA a run for their money these days, and that's kinda terrifying.
What happened with bungie

Corporate greed from Sony and the high up’s of bungie

Again, again!
Their is a chance that it was Sony that did it but I’m not sure.
No way he didnt die wow
Finally, a shit posting news source that I could trust!
I can't believe Bungie is the one killing the game. I always thought they were just pretty bad at management
Maybe it’s a good idea they gave Halo to 343.
Fitting
Lmao this is amazing
Stopped Carina about Bungie after they sued Marty. Right or wrong, it's the biggest corperate dick move and really showed that the Bungie culture¹ was dead.
*¹Refer to the early Halo viDocs
Ngl, this is a bit harsh, but as it completely resonates with how I actually feel, the only thing I have to say is what's the song at 0:02?
A bit harsh? Did you see what Bungie did to their staff?
The song is battle ready from the lightfall soundtrack
@@Williaso yeah, i just thought you were a bit more blunt and emotionally driven. Yeah, they made a bunch of really shitty decisions (a bunch of their PR team, some of the music team's heads, etc), but who can you really blame but Pete Parson, his executives, and the people at Sony? The entire reason Sony bought Bungie is because they wanted to "brain drain" them for the secret to good live service games. Now that they've accomplished that, it would appear that they've decided to throw Bungie into the gutters. Sad reality of capitalism.
@@Swan94y it was a joke from the "completely accurate summary of the youtube comments section 2023" video
@@dinkeycat Read the sources bit. According to people from Bungie, this was not a Sony decision. I do blame Peter Parsons. Bungie is a company, not the people that make it up, and they're making that clear.
Okay, I think I'm ready to quit destiny again.
Yeah guys Halo would definitely be better with Bungie. It's not at all better off with 343
Even the shit show at bungie is better than 343
@@Dolat1984no it’s not even as a die hard bungie fan they would’ve killed halo by now
@@Dolat1984nah, 343 at least fired the upper management responsible for the way Infinite released. At Bungie, the upper management gets off scot free and the average employees get fired for the work they were told to do. Make it make sense. The upper management at Bungie are now scum in my eyes.
@@Dolat1984Wrong.
I'm not saying it would be perfect, far from it, but 343 has not had a good story or game that actually felt like a halo game at all since they took over
More corporate greed destroying another company and game. Dont buy Marathon.
The aleph one ports are coming to steam tho so that's good
This was litterly Sony's fault.
Not exactly. It's been confirmed Bungie management was responsible for the layoffs. It's clear management needs to go, drown in the Deep even.
It was bungie deciding this, sony confirmed they had no part to this
Sony fired them, mostly a lot of their studios within have people being fired
Bungie has had a lot of internal problems and drama for awhile. Just go look what former employees have said about this. You can't lay blame squarely on Sony. Bungie's hands are not clean of this.
It was confirmed already that sony was in no part for this
I do not care
Well said Sir!
I just take anyone seriously that posts B-roll of them playing while talking about something serious like this. You don’t actually care, you’re just trying to virtue signal. You’re going to keep giving Bungie your money, so why even bother with your hollow words
You must be new here. To give this some context, the footage is from over 6 months ago when I covered Lightfall, on the continuing trend of me only ever playing Destiny to cover the major expansions because it helps grow the channel. I just added the new voiceover. Other than that, I don't play Destiny. Sure, I pay for the expansions, but I'm a UA-camr, sometimes I've gotta bite the bullet and pay for stuff. I don't think that makes me a virtue signaler to be upset about what's going on. Yeah ideally I could talk about it without having to play the game but nobody's gonna watch a summary video with no video in it, you know?
"I can't believe you're doing your job while talking about something job related that you don't like"
"It was me, He-man. I was the one who fired all the staff. NYHEHE"
If I had a nickel for everytime Bungie loses the goodwill of their fanbase this year, I'd have two which isn't a lot but its weird it happened twice.
More than 2
This is a bad example of the meme.
It isn't even weird that it happened twice, honestly.
This does not inspire confidence for the fate of the new Marathon game.
What I find hilarious is I use the headlong soundtrack for a news podcast I did for a college class
i can hear the fanboys screaming "ITS STILL GOOD. ITS STILL GOOD!"
Everyone I know who still regularly played Destiny are already looking for other games. Because of the delay and all of this, there's nothing to do in Destiny anymore
As one of the diehard fan girls, it ain’t good homie
Idc about the game anymore. Let Bungie go under. Final shape isn't worth over 100 people suffering

Bungie fucked up again
lotta people (a few the community really liked) were laid off
Dozens of employees laid off by Bungie because Destiny 2 wasn't doing well enough, allegedly many employees were told this at the last minute and didn't have time to exchange contact info and phone numbers with any coworkers they made friends with.
8% of Bungie employees were laid off in a very scummy way so as to be denied some of their benefits, and it affected even individuals that had been there for YEARS.
was the medicine of sony
Pete Parsons You Say?
I have zero faith in Bungie as a company at this point. I'm really glad I didn't pre-order anything because I have no interest in the final shape.

All of this is to nickel and dime, kill the previous franchise, and then once everyone has forgotten this, they drop anthem and regain half the player base. On paper this will make money so thats the direction they will follow.
lets be honest the moment bungie ever started thinking of destiny 2 we all knew they gonna do nothing but fuckups

…wow
The true “destiny killer” was bungie the whole time…
The destiny killer was the friends we made all along!
Isn’t this due to Sony and not Bungie tho? I doubt bungie would choose to do this with their whole schedule with final shape and episodes already being set, but this gets in the way. Sony has been laying off lots of devs throughout the year from many games
My current understanding of the situation is that this came from the top at Bungie due to a 45% revenue drop from projections and low Lightfall preorders. Pete made a comment to the remaining staff to the effect of “we made sure to keep the right people on the team.” They were given $1.2 billion from Sony earmarked specifically for staff retention purposes so this sort of thing wouldn’t happen and it’s just… gone. The current theory as I understand it is that it went to executive bonuses. Which is possible. But a *billion* dollars is a lot of money. And just bonuses does not explain the rest of it being gone. I’m just some guy, there’s a chance some of this info might be wrong and I’m not trying to spread misinformation on purpose, but this is the best I’ve been able to piece together from various sources the past day or two.
@@victoriousreign*"Executive bonuses"*
Holy fuck, this is beyond vile if true. Imagine losing your job, which you've held for over two decades, because some greedy CEO who just came in wanted his extra on top of his already bloated pay. Awful.
@@victoriousreign1.2 billion dollars in bonuses is actually insane tho, like that’s got to be illegal since it was meant for retaining employees, but a bunch were fired, even ones that wrote TWABs and even the guy that composed deep stone lullaby :(
