No,I found a really clean 93'coupe Deville black on black for 1,950 with only 93 thousand on the clock, could not pass it up,it's the caddy 4.9 and the dependability is much better than the first gen ls.I will keep my eyes peeled for a nice 04-06 ls,that's what I really want for a second car.
Well this helped alot i haven't tried to bleed it yet but here's what is going on with my 2006 ls v8 so i got it with 89k miles it now has 119k miles on it i replaced the radiator, thermostat and water pump well i drove it for about a month after replacing all of those parts and it overheated on the freeway i get out and shut the car off and it's pissing coolant out from where it appears to be right under the overflow tank so i replaced that and it's still pissing coolant after about 30 minutes of driving do you think that this could be the problem? Thanks in advance
I have an 2002 v8. Has a coolant leak but no idea where it's coming from. Not coming from the hoses but seems like it's coming from the reservoir itself. Cant really tell though. Any thoughts? Please help. I like the car which is why this is my second one but yeah, too many issues
it must be the overflow tank, its a common issue in these cars, I've replaced mine previously also. I just got a regular dormant one from amazon, works fine for the last 3 years so far. They develop cracks on the bottom usually, or near the hose itself. almost impossible to see unless you remove it to check it out.
i dont have it but it was the thermostat housing and fixed it drove it for a little then started leaking from the cap of the thermostat housing then titined the cap now the temperate is rising slowley i thinki have to bleed it again bcuz i opend the thermostat cap what you think
Hey bud, I have an 04 V8 LSE with nearly the same main leaks in the cooling system. About $320 total in parts before the DCCV. I'm just curious, other than your cooling system issue, how many miles are on your LS and how is the engine currently performing?
my car has about 145k on it now, ive owned it for 5 years and purchased it at 135, so i drove it very little. I did have misfires b4, after all coils were replaced there were no isses at all, the motor runs great in this car. Also had the dccv replaced around 3 years ago, good since. I honstly dont mind replacing the basic cooling parts, but id hate to have to hunt down all the different seals and gaskets, thats a nightmare.
hello, Yes I have. I think those are from the Jaguar version of this car, and for the GEN 1 models only. Ive only seen a few attempt this fix, part is very tough to find in the first place too.
yes, these are for GEN 1 models, not mine unfortunately. Although reviews seems very good on this item for the first gen LS models. No such luck for the Gen 2 models.
Hey so I have a 2004 LS V8 and it's having coolant or refrigerant issues. When I try to put liquid in the reservoir, it just leaks after I start the engine. Any ideas?
Did you see where it leaks from? Usually it leaks from the Degas (overflow) tank itself. When the coolant warms up there are small micro cracks usually around the hose itself near the bottom of the tank. Best bet is to remove the tank and visually check for a crack around the bottom.
I had a leak in the throttle body return hose that runs underneath the intake manifold. It would trickle down the back of the engine when i started it up.
so tonight on my way home from work I noticed my 06 ls over heating, stopped at a gas station bought coolant (wrong kind apparently after watching this video) after I filled it stopped over heating but now getting alot of smoke (looks like coolant) coming from the SAME exact spot above the coolant valve where your leak was. it was dark I can't really see too well but I think that's the reason my motor is smoking. I'm getting so sick of dumping money into this car please tells me it gets better
it gets better, once you fix that small issue. Not really an expensive repair and all generic type stuff. It could be worse you know, It could be a BMW ahahaha.
Ended up buying a 17 silverado ltz. Still got Lincoln, no more over heat issues but my dual value climate control shit the bed, an I got a tensioner that needs replacing. But other tgen that car runs just as quiet as my brand new silverado
well you can really use any high temp epoxy. Check the max temp for the one you are using, I'm sure there are high temp ones out there too. Is your's leaking though that same T-fitting as mine was? or is it a diff piece.
+hybrid32494 same exact spot on the left and I did the same thing with the tiny hose in the middle. new fastener and I used in weld. so far the one on the left leaks. I might scrape it and re apply it and wait longer. I only waited one hour for it to set.
you need to scrape and sand with a good coarse sandpaper when applying it. And spread it move around the whole area. If that fails the piece itself is like 70 bucks from the dealer.
I need help! 06 Lincoln ls. Started off a slow leak and has gotten worse I noticed my reserves bubbling couldn’t find the leak anywhere until it started pouring out. I believe it’s the thermostat housing connector, is that hard to change and should I replace the thermostat housing along with it?
Hello, You mean you have bubbling in the overflow( Degas bottle) ? or at the thermostat housing, (also called the water inlet). These cars have pretty temperamental water inlets, mine was replaced a few years ago, along with the original Motorcraft thermostat. I used a Dorman water inlet housing from amazon, has been fine the past 4 years.
So we replaced the thermostat housing assembly and connector. Where can I get the upper radiator hose? The t piece is leaking. I want to get all this fix so I have piece of mind. Thank you!!
Just went through this problem on my own 2000 lincoln l_s v8 it was this note that has the lower radiator hose coming up to it where the thermostat goes in was all warped like a f****** banana tried to seal it with no Prevail bought a new one for twenty bucks will make a video on how that goes
So you're saying it was the thermostat housing also called the water inlet valve. YES? I had that replaced too as it was also leaking eventually. I made an updated video where I talked about that.
where is the crack? First it can be leaking in that case yes of course you will loose coolant quick. A small hairline crack will also cause coolant to mostly evaporate and just precipitate slowly.
What about the three netal hoses on passenger side at fire wall to heatercore. How did you fix the coolant leak from there. My stepfather has exact same LS and is leaking from there.
hey quick ? i just put this stuff on my car but havent tested it yet but what is the normal running temp that the 04 ls v8 runs at i cant find info about it anywere
this particular hight temp epoxy is good for unto 250 F. Our cars run around 180-200 degrees normally. make sure to check for leaks a few hours after it sets, i waited about 6 hours.
yes, you always have to bleed the system anytime you open it up to any air. You must have added some more coolant too right? Make sure to use the correct motorcraft coolant. Any air bubbles in these and you will run hot and could still overheat. Just listed to the fan speed, if it seems high then bleed longer.
+Carlos De La Paz i dont recommend water unless you have absolutely no choice. Regualr tap water has minerals in it that will rust inside the cooling system eventually, unless its flushed effectively. Coolant is only mixed with distilled water in normal conditions.
hey i did bleed it drove it for about 15 minutes then started over heating i opend the hood and it was throwing coolant from under ther thermostat i have a video
+Taschia James In any car the engine codes can be reset if you remove the black terminal from your battery for 15 seconds. If you have any security systems of anti theft issues, this could be a bad idea though. I doubt your LS has any of those, mine does not. You can also get a code scanner on amazon for around 20 bucks and erase the codes through the diagnostics port.
my L's engine light would come on after a rainy day. there was a manufactured issue with the spark plugs getting wet water someone leaks in.. thats if your car is funding fine. after a couple days of driving my engine light would turn off due to the fact that driving it would heat it up and dry the wet parts I'm assuming im. if you gas cap is lose it can also cause the engine light to turn on.. also my o2 sensor went out and my engine light turned on. auto zone will give u a free diagnosis for free.
the engine light will illuminate in any car if the gas cap is opened, and it should, because there is incorrect back pressure created. The issue with the water or oil in the plug wells does exist in some LS v8's. I have changed my own coils twice so far, and no liquids in any of the plug wells. You should have the rear of the valve covers property bolted an sealed. This will prevent rain water, you should also use dielectric grease on any plug and coil connections, this will insulate the connections from some oil and water if it does get in.
the dccv is just a valve that opens and closes for the dual zone climate system and all the coolant runs through the three hoses attached to it. IF you simply adjust turn your heater to its max temp the DVVC should be fully open and you would not need to take the dccv off at all. In my opinion there is no benefit in filling with it if it works as it should for now.
How do you take an idea for a car and go let's give it an awesome jaguar engine, great Jaguar suspension, but screw it give it a clunky but tough transmission and make little parts that break easily out of plastic.
If its all you had in an emergency thats ok. But you need to ASAP flush the system out and use only the correct motorcraft gold color coolant and dilute it with distilled water at a 50% ratio. The regular water you used has minerals and minor impurities in it that will rust and clog the system in about half a year from now. Ill try to upload a new video on how to bleed these cars soon, will link you here soon. good luck. thanks for watching btw.
PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME ANYONE PLEASE HELP I HAVE A LINCOLN LS V8 AND HEATING COOLING VALVE HAS BEEN REPLACE BUT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR IS STILL HOT AND DRIVER SIDE AIR IS COLD. I HAVE CHECKED THE 10 AMP FUSE THE RED COLOR FUSE ITS O/K. I HAVE CLAMP THE HOSES THAT
Did you bleed the system correctly? IF the bleed was not done a coulee of times with a few heat/cold cycles that will usually leave air in the system and can still cause a malfunction like you described. Search my channel on another vid I made on how to bleed the system.
did you have a second generation v8?. I think the 280 hp and 290 torque is a great combo from a 3.9L non turbo motor. And btw you gotta use the select shift and turn the traction off to feel the power, the shift points and torque converter setting appear tighter in the manual mode. Otherwise in auto it feels quite average.
+hybrid32494 I never used the select shift I didn't wan to ruin the car and yes I had the 3.9 it takes a lot of oil and u have to change it every other month
did you bleed the cooling system? Is it just starting to overheat on its own or did you have some shop work on it recently and it started after. How is your coolant level?
Why do you say that only the Gold Motorcraft coolant can be used? Is it because Ford says that? I don't pay attention to that kind of BS from car companies. I just bought a 2003 LS V8, and there is Green Anti-freeze in it.......No cooling problems either. Do you have any actual proof that other coolants will harm components?
from what I understand it is because most store purchased coolants use DEXCOOL, this motorcraft one does not. It is not approved with the ford per the OEM specs. The DEXCOOL agents apparently gum up in the system within a year, while the Gold OEM rotorcraft coolant does not.
OK, thanks for the explanation.. I'm going to stay with the green glycolol coolant because I don't believe it will gum up components.or cause any problems. I change coolant every two years as recommended, and always use the premixed. Really what causes most of the problems with coolants is when people mix the undiluted with garden hose water......it has to be distilled to be safe
I def learned the distilled water coolant mix process the hard way years ago with my old Ford Taurus, (lets not even talk about that POS). The way I saw it the cost of the undiluted motorcraft coolant was only a couple more bucks so why not. Plus I used to service this at a Lincoln dealership and they seriously will not warranty anything unless you use OEM coolant from them, figures, right?
+JoeySmokes you lucky dog I love the Lincoln though so going to get radiator shop to make me a metal one this is the second time it's happened to me and I've even made my own of glued them I've tried everything kept happening so going to use the radiator shop
+nicholas oakman my transmission was going out too. and my CD player went out. and my driver window regulator was broke. now I'm gripping wood grain. my L's was a 04 only had 80k miles
you can use any coolant you want obviously. But as ford recommends you need coolant without dexcool, such as the motorcraft gold premium. Like with most complex V8 motors in the BMW and Benz models you need to use the OEM spec coolant. Otherwise it will eventually gum up the whole system. Ive since used only the OEM coolant and no issued for three years so far.
sorry that ur not happy with the car. I agree they are very temperamental. Although many of the electrical and misfire issues relate to just needed new coils and/or a fresh battery. Literally all the electrical issues will go away.
I've actually never had issues with the gaskets, or any oil in the plug wells. Usually it just seems that CYL 8 the coil itself just breaks and does not have good contact with the plug itself. Pretty simple issue, just replaced all 8 for 40 bucks from amazon, always fine for 2-3 years.
Just threw on a thrush glasspacks today, sounds nice, not to loud, compliments the great low end torque of the 4.9 🤘✌
you mean the 3.9 LOL. right??
KJBPSkipper it's 3.9...

You mean 3.9 ?😂😂

yes, i try to never over the thermostat cap, you need to bleed it. The manual says to always add coolant to the overflow tank.
going to buy a 2001 v8 tommorow,has 216,342 miles,looks really clean,what things should I look for?
so did you get it? The gen 1 is very diff from my gen 2. It's a diff drivetrain and has a hydraulic cooling pump, thats where the issues are.
don't buy
To many miles. Let it stay where it’s at.
Hey there. Question on the bleed. Do I leave the degas cap off during the bleed? Thanks
no, you should have it closed. The bleed valve will on its own take all the air out of the system.
Hey bud, I have an 04 V8 LSE with nearly the same main leaks in the cooling system. About $320 total in parts before the DCCV. I'm just curious, other than your cooling system issue, how many miles are on your LS and how is the engine currently performing?

Ive since used only the OEM coolant and no issued for three years so far.
this vehicle was my worst purchase ever. runs terribly hot and plagued with problems. it's like Ford purposely designed the car to constantly fail
sorry that ur not happy with the car. I agree they are very temperamental. Although many of the electrical and misfire issues relate to just needed new coils and/or a fresh battery. Literally all the electrical issues will go away.
+hybrid32494 the coils are a well known issue due to the valve gaskets
I've actually never had issues with the gaskets, or any oil in the plug wells. Usually it just seems that CYL 8 the coil itself just breaks and does not have good contact with the plug itself. Pretty simple issue, just replaced all 8 for 40 bucks from amazon, always fine for 2-3 years.
+hybrid32494 wow 40 bucks? best deal ever! and thanks for the video. didn't know about the coolant type.
no problem. lemme know about any odd issues if they come up. Ive prob been through all the coolings issues on this car so far.
