it is absurd to say the VW Golf looks better than this... had he said the scirocco i would have understood but the Gold is in no way better looking than this. mind you, it may not look as premium as the newer facelifts of the 1 series but it looks better in my opinion and more appropriate to its segment.
I don't understand why people find it so ugly. Okay it's not a standard design, but it looks pretty great in my opinion. And then when Citroen releases the 'Cactus', everyone starts to admire them for trying something different. But high winds blow on high hills I guess :)
media people like to line up with each other's verdict like sheep. They like to tell us what to think but I dont buy into all they say. The car is not ugly at, I find it beautiful in fact. Its personal preference,
also... the car he drove here is the specced down version. The entry level with absolutely no equipment added to it at all. It becomes much more of a looker with the M-sport package and xenon headlights.
skatethebored BMWs have always had an edgy design which for most dull and boring people goes misunderstood. BMWs will always appeal to more stylish people who make bolder fashion choices
I have one of these (F20 116i 4 cylinder - no M Sport package) that is 7 years old and it had it's things, but I am more than happy with it. It's fun to drive, comfortable and I quite like the looks (mine has xenon lamps and is mineralweiss color). After more than 150k km, no rattles, no strange sounds, engine pushes fairly nicely (outstanding in sport mode), and it's really stable around corners. I almost got an A3 instead of this one. Glad I didn't.
I’m looking to get one for my second car, do they cost a lot to maintain? The main issue I have with cars atm is multiple things going wrong but I’m hoping with the quality of a BMW that this won’t be the case
I think its not fair to say there is poor rear view visibility then show a picture of the headrests up and the do a shot of the back with them down ,which for 90% of the time, is where they will stay!
I don't find it ugly, but I do think BMW could do a lot lot lot better appearance wise with this car to make it even more appealing. But that rear visibility is absolutely shocking, bordering on dangerous
I purchased a new BMW 1 in 2013 in Portugal that this 2017 /2018 winter put water in the suitcase and destroyed various electrical systems due to a defect in fence, besides having put in question my safety and my family. The BMW dealer in Portugal, Caetano Retail of V.N.Gaia assumes no liability despite all the revisions being made religiously in the mark and the problem is notoriously a manufacturing defect. I intend to solve the problem according to the premium service with which I have always been accustomed by BMW.
I do not find this car ugly. However few things disappoint.Old fashion reflector head lights in such premium car such BMW?Tail lights could be more LED type too.I like interior materials used and entertainment display ( sadly no SAT NAV).The rear view is terrible. Almost none. You pay for sporty look and character and costly timming chain problems in some engine models.
During my life I noticed that there is a relation between curves and emotions they depict or create. I shall boil it down to four feelings , MONOTONY, GENTLENESS, EXCITEMENT, AGGRESSION. These emotions are triggered through curves including straight lines effectively made by a circle of infinite radius( monotony), parts of a circle where the centre stays on the same side( gentleness), parts of an S curl where part of a circle joins another part of a circle whose centre crosses the circumference( excitement), and a point where the small circle in the pint is made by centre touching the point( aggressiveness) Well sport cars tend to have exciting ( sexy) and aggressive curves but this BMW could not made up its mind which way to go ............ sport car or a family car with monotonous and gentle curves . One day I will publish this research I have been conducting all my life in addition to the effect of unsymmetry, colour distribution , same colour different hews or the closeness of different colours. This is nature at its operation level to attract onlookers. The British lost their car markets because they did not recognise how important curves are as related to emotions and I tell you what can you feel when you see a Mini-minor, or a Morris Marina or a Morris 1000. There is a subject that is so interesting and if you want to sell the item you produce, what you hide is not enough , the curves on the outside need to talk to the customers and in cars those customers age from 20 to 35 . as the most gullable to cater for. If you do not , you lose.

Indeed I agree honestly bmw 1series looking very good, I find the citroen cactus ugly though
I think they've made it very beautiful (ok, smart-looking) from this generation
the old one was definitely a dingos-dinner though

Did he say that the Golf looks better? Really!
He did lolz, Thats cause people see the golf so much
The Golf is the blandest car on the market. He needs glasses.

The M135i is the best all-round car!

Not as pretty as a golf? The Volkswagen golf is the white bread of the car world. It's the least interesting looking car on the market!
I think this looks better than the new facelift
Asim Iqbal Yeah i love the Front of the pre facelift....the new one looks like any other bmw ...
I keep saying the same
No chance

Mapped my 116d to 191bhp & 300 ft/lbs torque. Added Bilsteins & 2" drop and it's a great daily driver now. Still does 50 mpg too!
no running problems so far ?
@@vladtudor4447 No. Just a new clutch but that’s just normal wear & tear.
Being different is good!
App the maintenance for this car is constant
i never liked this version, its looks like a gentle panda at the front and the older and newer versions look menacing

Ugly seems like a bonus.... Wolf in sheep's clothing and all that as opposed to a boy racer sheep in wolfs clothing.
This and the polo and fiesta the new facelifts are horrible
Looks nice but I dislike rear wheel cars so not for me
Boring.
I’ve got the x drive 4wd it’s fantastic
