In general, just about 0.926 percent of the cars sold by Toyota and other automobile companies like Lexus last year were battery EVs. Considering that, the company reckons there's still a need for combustion engines.

His statement reaffirms an announcement made at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon, where he took great advantage of the opportunity to tell everyone that they will keep doing engines.

Car companies needs to stop making better engines and make their god damn vehicles last longer than a decade. If this trend continues, everyone should just lease their cars. There is no point in buying as they all break down. If the engine doesn't die, the transmission will break. If that doesn't go, the suspension gets f. If you somehow maintain all that and prevent it, the plastics all around the car get brittle and break apart. Stop freaking building things with plastic and thin azz sheet metals. Save the planet and make things last.
