"You haven't derailed actually... you've just destroyed a brake van" - that absolutely floored me! The railway is looking stunning with spring coming in. Given that it's all tight curves cut into the side of a hill, it really does have a beautifully authentic Welsh narrow gauge feel to it. Excellent work as per usual.
Thanks again for your kind comments! Yes that was a fun day with Steve. More work has been done over the last few days so another update will follow soonish.
I took a look at the Welsh Wizard Loco Works. Holy cow!! 😮😮😮
Yup!
Another great video on this charming railway. Will have to visit.
Thanks Neil! You should!
Every man's dream. Love your enthusiasm.Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks a lot Mozz!
Nice to see Fred enjoytng himself ! some thing with out steam .! Hello Fred .
Cheers Mike.
I should have said it’s my first collision in 32 years of driving.
Thanks for not issuing me a form1 lol
Had a great day.
Haha thanks again mate! So did I!
Absolutely wonderful, as always. I really enjoy your line and your commentary. One day, someone will post something filmed from the Gwili and say “Look! Elizabeth’s in steam!!”
Haha! You never know. Thanks very much!
Brilliant fun!
Thanks Stan!
Hey Ren, here the old hippie from S. California great work on your train. Just ran into your video, need to catch up on your work. Again, you did a great job.
Thanks so much Ren!
Another cracking video Ian - although that Turntable makes me a bit nervous 😉
Thanks Frank! It's fine when you are down there, it just looks worse on the vid. Honest.
Have you watched the show Detectorists? Incredible gentle comedy/drama about men and their hobbies. One of my top-3 shows ever.
This edition reminded me of that show a bit: men and their hobbies.
Yeah I have watched it - enjoyed it.
I was very surprised when Steven showed up on the screen!
I don’t see him often but always have a chat when we bump into one another (typically at a Model exhibition). Infact I have his shirt and jumper from DB days when he went into freightliner!
Also mates with someone where I volunteer that used to work with him.
The railway is coming along really well and it was nice seeing all 3 locos in steam, keep up the great work!
Thanks a lot! Yes Steve got in touch after keeping up with the channel and it turned out we had a lot in common with work. I had worked for Freightliner and DB.
A charming line, great "advantage" the hillside/embankment, it seems purposeful, typically narrow gauge.
Good to see Fred I haven't seen him for several years, Hardwicke was the last time😊
I wonder if a check-rail might help on that curve, might help add strength to maintain alignment too🤔🤔
I have improved the curve now with a check rail. I think the vid after this one shows the improvements. Glad you liked the vid. Hope you enjoy the others too!
Fabulous update. Great to see the steamer in action
Thanks a lot Chris! Hope you visit again!
Great Stuff Ian
Thanks David!
17:19 We had exactly this on the Ratty when Black Prince visited from Romney. Got the process extremely efficient by the end of the season!!
Wow really! Would love to see that.
Glad you got the tunnel sorted, that was a right pain...😉
'Hopefully' sorted mate!
About the turntable, I'm kind of scared, because if something goes wrong on the platform, it can just go downhill, this makes me a bit worried
But other than that, it's very satisfying to watch your videos especially when you're driving Elizabeth 👍
Thanks a lot! I have made the turntable extremely solid. Even if the castors fail it will only drop an inch or so. I put the loco handbrake on when it is in place and the scotches also. It is far easier to turn with Elizabeth due to a lower centre of gravity. Ivy and Scamp don't need to be turned.
Alreedey looking forward to the next one 😊👍👍
Will probably be the three year anniversary edition.
Excellent as always and good fun!
Thanks again!
Another great episode Ian the railway is really maturing now !
Thanks Merv!
Great to see all the engines in operation now. Now for a season of nice weather. Could the derailment have been due to exceeding the DEAD SLOW speed through the tunnel loop? More check rail will help in the tunnel loop. Thanks for the Fred Lewis website info. He did a pretty good job running. The end of the turntable bumpers look pretty stout. Your viewers may worry less about turning the equipment.
He did! Yes we should be going dead slow but due to the gradient we have to floor it! One of the jobs to do is to ease that gradient! The actual derailment was due to the track not being level between the rails. Causes havoc on curves. I hadn't checked it round there for a while.
Have you considered switching the direction the points are sprung on the run around loop? It might be that Elizabeth's tender being in front on the run around helps pull her leading axle around the tightest curve of the point.
Yes I did wonder about that! Might try that.
Thanks for another video, enjoyable viewing.
Just to ask, do you have any plans to extend the line, maybe buy some land behind the shed?
Thanks Edgar! I would if I could but it isn't possible. I did ask about buying a bit of it but I didn't get the impression it was going to happen. To be honest this is enough for me to deal with on my own!
What’s the story Behind this lovely little railway?
Thank you! I started it almost three years ago and it has grown beyond anything I had planned to do. It's been a lot of work but a lot of fun!
Can you not remove more earth to allow Elizabeth to run round? Or is that a mega job?
Wonderful to see developments
Thanks Steve. It would be possible and then I could rebuild the set of points but I've done enough for now! Ivy manages it and that's the main thing.
@@Elvinley that’s awesome it really seems to have developed over the last few months I only found your channel last month what a journey!
@@Steve-tq6yc Excellent thanks Steve!
Which train is your favourite Elvinley Railways
Probably Elizabeth the steamer but Ivy has been the workhorse!
@@Elvinley I would love to have a railway in my back garden
@@jacksparkes9834 Always loved garden railways. The smaller scales are cheap for new starters.
@@Elvinley how much did it cost you to make the Ivy railway
@@jacksparkes9834 The railway itself wasn't too bad but the locos were expensive. Hard to say how much in total.
