Hey Spiff, Peglin got a big update since you last broke it, and with it came a relic known as the Spiffy Crit. It makes all your attacks apply an effect called Exploitaball to the target, making them weaker to crit damage! There's also an absolute sh*tload of other new stuff. Have fun! :) 4:36 precisely why people hate claw machines irl
As a factionary game developer i have learnt from The spiff that any upgrades that have percentages % are to be avoided at all cost if creating a new game. Thanks a lot Spiff.
You can allow percentages. You just need to be careful. In this case, 5% of the new cost is the way to go, so the amount in terms of the base cost gets smaller. So the second bargain is 5% off the 95% price, or 90.25%. But 20 bargains would be 35.85%, not 0% under this system.
Percentage buffs are fine, and honestly percentage buffs are what you *should* do if you intend to have an infinitely scaling game so that your players can feel powerful. You just need to plan for Spiifs.
The problem here is that it is an additive modifier. If it was multiplicative, it wouldn't reach 0 cost, ever. It would get really close, but the greater cost should offset that.
Note to developers; when you have a discount perk or something that decreases bad things...don't stack additively, stack them multiplicatively. Otherwise you get *motions at video*
I do love that you put the little guy DEX as one of the people you've watched, because he did this exact build weeks back and it was brutal. Keep up the awesome work spiff.
@@thespiffingbrit Just a heads up that's in turkish lire so it's more like 15 pounds. A lot of people use vpns to access weaker currencies to make what appears to be very large donations (not saying this guy specifically did that of course but just a heads up as its a bit misleading intentionally or not)
Programming languages usually have a maximum safe number in them because of how floating point notation looses precision after some length. So about 40 strength potions will probably break the numbers and either overflow them into negative billions or for example in javascript you'd get +Infinity.
This one isn't using float's at all but regular i32. Yes, not even unsigned. It tries to prevent overflow by having the flasks not work anymore, but there's a bug in the demo version. I'm not certain but I think it assumes each flask doubles the value so when you grab a triple potion you can overflow to negative. It then resets it to 0, and well. Bye, bye. Besides, the monsters health has exponential growth, so what looks like game breaking at floor 20 is barely staying alive at floor 65. And by then you can't survive a single hit from some of the enemies. And some others basically soft-lock the game by how many items they add to the claw machine. It goes down to a 1fps crawl while adding thousands of items.
@@thomgizziz It's an early demo. I don't think they expected people to make builds that would survive long enough to reach the point where that enemy could cause a soft lock.
Honestly half the reason i watch you spiff is because your narration just makes me happy. I was actually thinking recently “im feeling down lately… i think I need to hear spiff say ‘very jazzy indeed’”.
I have done this exact same concept before. Just strength potions and paperclips. Using the doubling zones to increase your items. You overfill the machine and most stuff just dies by dragging the claw and never deploying it.
The Spiffing Brit never makes "mistakes", he uses unexpected tactics to confuse the enemy by doing things that don't conform to his primary objective prior to accomplishing his original goal 🙂

Junk jets becomes the key to it all and makes it a fun build because it deals a random enemy 1 damage per every junk jet stacked every time a new item is added to the machine after the initial filling at the beginning of the round. So beginning of the round, I'll defend up. Pass the turn. They'll usually do gimmicks or dink at the various armor combos I've got. Their turn ends, things rain down into the machine, they all die from several instances of damage, I heal for every instant of damage, and if something's unlucky enough to survive, they're not going to be able to do anything about it during their next turn.
