This makes me want to cry. Beauty and the Beast was my first Broadway show and I was fortunate to see Andrea McArdle as Belle. Great memories. I always wanted to go see it again before it closed.
This is not the end of beauty and the beast, it has been transformed into community theater performances. Namely rosemont theater and Dallas Texas in 2017. Also a two night performance in Los Angeles with Susan Egan the same year. Just relatively recently in 2018 it is announced by Thomas the head of Disney theatrical the musical is underway for a come back to New York.
@@alexanderpytko5394 It’s not on Broadway. It came back for a month in 2019 at the Papermill playhouse in New Jersey and It’s currently on the West end (London) and on a UK tour but it’s not in the US yet :/
@@HeyItsSarah30 I heard that it was showing in a few states like Texas and Missouri. If it's not, they probably didn't set a tour for it in the US then because of Covid. It was on Broadway in 2011, I know because I saw it on Broadway in Chicago. It was pretty good. But like I said, the team who made the first version back in the 90's has gotten back together and brought it back. It'll be back. It was doing well even when it was taken off. I bet they really took it off to make room for other Disney shows like Tarzan, Mulan, The Hunchback of Notre Dome and The Little Mermaid. Most of those didn't do well. The 2 Disney Broadways that apparently have done the best are Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. When I watched Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, I thought that Gaston reminded me of Rum Tum Tugger from "CATS". There's one person that I'm sure the original team, especially Alan Menken, wishes could've seen this brilliant musical but never did.. Howard Ashman. It's ironic because he was play writer and song lyric writer who worked on Broadway which was where Disney found him(and Alan Menken) and he was in charge of the animated movie and wrote the lyrics to all the songs in the movie and he put the feeling of Broadway into the movie. He would've loved to have worked on this musical and he would've been a big help to the actors as he really knew how to get actors into character. He would've been so proud of this musical because if you think about it, this musical would never have happened if it hadn't been for him and his work.

Also broadway is specifically the theaters in New York. Chicago has its own professional theatre so you saw the Chicago production not broadway
I love this musical. I know this is just ironic. but This one closed and the little mermaid also closed and they were in the same theater. does disney productions have that theater specifically? just a random thought. Good Video.
ajones363 they do have a different cast. Every show that’s on broadway doesn’t have the same cast the whole time. They are constantly switching casts. And they’re usually forced to close because they’re not making enough money. But in this case Disney was just stupid and closed it to make way for the little mermaid and it didn’t even last that long after it opened 😔
Cna I ask you how did they do the scene with wolves? And the transformation scene? (Everytime I'm listening to soundtrack I'm imagining what is it like to see the show...). Well, thanks to youtube, I have seen at least many videos...:-)))
@RaWrZzZz: Agreed. The show ending was absolutely anti-climactic. They should have done like what they did at the end of Act I in Wicked--Put Ursula on that elevated rail that gives her the whole Elphaba treatment. But there you go you see, Disney Theatrics trying to save as much money as possible.
....OK now I am going to have to watch Beauty and the Beast after watching this,and bawl my eyes out wishing I was young again and seeing it for the first time in theaters...GIVE ME BACK MY CHILDHOOD!!!
That's so sad!! I went to go see this when I was 8 years old...sadly I barely remember it, but I always wanted to go back! Hopefully it will be back soon.

I can't believe that lion king is still playing and yet, the classical beauty and the beast is over :[ i wish they get rid of the little mermaid, because of horrible reviews.

Kayla Dahl um they didn’t. They had a national tour in like 2014 or something but they never brought it back to broadway sadly 😔😔

There will be a non-equity tour that begins next year.
This should've stayed open. By the time "The Little Mermaid" closes it will have only played 685 performances compared to "Beauty"'s 5,464.

They should never shut down a musical. They should just keep them back for a while and then redo them with a different cast
