Thank you! I was dreading having to do this myself but I couldn’t find anyone who would do it for less than $350 here. Your video was perfect. It took me 2.5hrs to do it all because I was extra careful, but I have my laptop up and running again. Now I can get back to work. Great video.
I have used other instructional videos to install a MacBook screen. This was the best one so far. Very detailed and descriptive. Te only ting I would add is to use a magnetic pad to keep track of the different screws.
Thanks for the informative video...I had to change a client's entire top case on his 2017 MBP A1706 due to some keys on the keyboard not working anymore. Your video got the screen disconnected, and then another video got me the rest of the way home in moving the motherboard/CPU fans over to the used top case. It was much cheaper getting the used top case with the keyboard and battery still intact.
This video was an extremely detailed and easy-to-understand explanation. This was my first time replacing the LCD panel on an A1706. Thanks to this video, I was able to complete the job perfectly. Thank you very much. I am grateful.
I followed this video to switch my completly cracked macbookpro display. When reassembling, I forgot to put the display cable above the lcd board and I was already tightening the bolts. Sweating bullets for a moment😬😅😱 but when powered up, everything works 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Thanks for de monstrating bro!
Thank you very much! with your clear instruction, I turned my A1706 with a broken screen to a fine working headless Mac. I didn't remove the wifi antenna at all since I was not going to replace the screen. I just cut off the broken screen and put stuff back in place.
Thanks for your video. It was crucial for me to successfully replace my screen. I found that replacing the wifi and bluetooth connection the most challenging part. Happily, it all works in the end.
Simon, Awesome video. Very easy to follow and my wife’s MBP screen is now up and running perfectly. One thing I noticed was that when you were referring to T3 screwdrivers, mine were T4. I inadvertently started to strip a screw, but once I realised the mistake I checked each step of the way.
Thank you sooo much!! I followed your video and everything went smoothly. My MacBook pro is up and running perfectly again. I am beyond grateful for your video! Thank you once again
What an amazing video! Every step was 100% on point, in order, and clear. Took me a little over an hour even with those crazy flea-sized screws!! Thank you!!
excelent detail, i never disassembled anything like this and thanks to your explaing very meticulously i was able to replace the screen and it worked. I had a small problem with putting on the new screen where the hinges go and i heard a faint popping noise and there was a small crack when I opened the screen. It did not affect the screen at all though, fingers crossed. If it wasn't for your video though I don't think I could have done it. I watch 5 videos prior and didn't feel confident until i saw yours. thank you so much.
Excellent video! I just replaced my screen using this video as a guide and it was extremely easy to follow. Now I have a working screen again. Thank you!
This is a fantastic tutorial!! I was looking everywhere for a good video to follow on how to put my lid back on after cleaning it, you were the one I found after a long search! thanks so much!!
@@lile1721 Yes, sorry for the delay. Those screws were the hardest to take out - Apple way overtorques them. I don't know if T3 was the right size for the screwdriver, maybe it was. At first, I thought I had stripped one of those screws because the screwdriver kept spinning and the screw would not budge.. To get out the screw I had to press down VERY VERY HARD on the top of the screwdriver while turning it very very slowly. My advice to anyone doing this is to have a pair of pliers on hand. Since I was pressing so hard down on the screwdriver with one hand it was difficult turn it with my other hand, since it kept slipping and I didn't have a good grip on it. It would have been slightly easier to turn the screwdriver with pliers. Anyway, the screw eventually gave way with me using both hands and latex gloves to keep them from slipping.
Great video! Easy to follow. Never done before any fine repair, but decided to give it a try; got some courage and patience; did it by myself for about an hour, and everything works great now! Thank you!
great tutorial. i can recommend to discharge the motherboard by holding powe button for 15 seconds right after detaching the battery at the beginning. i also would recommend keeping one screw on each hinge, extending the screen to the max then unscrew and finally detach the screen.
Wicked video…. Explained very well… never repaired a computer before … bought the screen for 349 and tools for 19.99 …. Mac repair would have cost me over 800… thank you
On wifi antenna removal of 12 screws what screwdriver are you using? You say .08 torx but that is not listed in either of the tool kits that you list. So again is this a .08 torx or P2 pentalobe, or what? Thanks
I have a Macbook Pro 1706 13 inch. I bought it in 2018 and the screen broke since then. I am very sad because of this breakage, especially since I am a university student and I need a laptop. I will try to fix it through your clip, and I hope it works because I love it very much, but the breakage hurts me very much.
Hi. I followed this video and it was absolutely great. Very easy to follow. However, my completed repair has a “pop” anytime the screen goes past 90 degrees. I completely redid the repair 2X and the pop doesn’t go away. Any suggestions on what this is and how to fix it? Thanks
@@UbergeeksBiz I had this issue and the cause is the Wifi board not sitting properly when replaced. There is a slot in the centre of case for a thin "foil" part of the antenna to slot into and small notch right in the very centre. If you are not very careful to fit the antenna foil into the slot the board does not sit flush and it catches on the screen.
WOW Thank you. Your video is fantastic my only problem was my fingers are huge so those little screws were fun. Thank you and if i need anymore help i will check you out first.
Hi, my A1706 screen goes black when the screen tilts open more then 45 degrees. Do you have a video for that fix? Any suggestions as I'm trying to avoid replacing the screen. thanks
Around 26:38 it looks like you are pinching the cable on the right hand side, top part near the screen. Is there enough slack there? This is the reason I need to replace my screen.
Just a question : are the "non-original Apple displays" one can buy at for example Amazon also have the Retina feature ? Or are they just ordinary LCD displays ?
Thanks for the excellent video. I have successfully replaced the screen, but it is not starting. Seems like completely dead. It was running fine with the bad screen. Any suggestions what should I check ?
Hey Simon, I did this repair last night following your video. When it turned it back on my touchable is working but not responding to touch feedback. The screen works fine just not able to physically use it. Any tips or possible things I can go back and check?
the two screws at 6 minutes 20 seconds aren’t able to come out using the screwdrivers in the descriptions for A1706 and Apple Store won’t take it out for me any suggestions that will help??
@26:18 I am missing those 2 screws, but the flip feels tight enough. I finished the rest of the process but the macbook wont start. Could it be those screws? Thanks.
would this repair, replaceing the whole LCD, fix the problem with the short backlight flexcable on 2016/2017 model - Or is the problem on the small flexcable on the motherboard ??
Hi, one of those 12 tiny screws won't come out. What should I do? How can I get it out? Coincidentally, it's the same one that was missing in your video.
Hii, I've a big problem 🥲I was changing the screen, the old one was totally disconnected and I was trying to fit the new one when I heard the sound of the keyboard and I realized that I turned on the computer by touching the keyboard (unintentionally) and I turned it off by pressing the button for 5 seconds and when I changed the screen and tried to turn on the computer, it did not turn on anymore. I did not disconnect the battery when changing the screens because I followed another tutorial and that one did not say anything about disconnecting the battery before changing the screen.

where did you purchase screen? I really don’t want to spend the money to get it fixed but don’t know where to get the screen
