As usual, an entertaining story. Thanks. No clock? Press the “I” button (Left hand switch cube) to scroll between Odometer, Trip 1 and 2, Average and Instantaneous mpg, traction control, TPMS (if fitted), ABS and traction control and finally the clock, all in the left hand LCD display. Possibly the clock shows as - -: - - because it has never been set.
Maybe that’s it!
Why not just have a clock, on display, all the time? I'm with TMF here.
Clock? If you're enjoying the ride who cares what time it is! But, if it's really that important you could always get one one of those newfangled wrist clocks! LOL
I just bought an OXFORD clock and set that up on the bars. It is horribly inaccurate, but I reset it once per week...
@@davidellis2021 what if you're on your way to an mot service. Meeting someone at a certain time or an appointment.
It has a clock! Mine has a clock. Keep hitting the "I" information button until the time shows! Should be a screen in the left side dial
Yep mine also has a clock, 2020 speed twin, in Australia.⏰
2020 owner in US and I was going to say the same thing
Yep. They all have clocks BUT I know TMF swapped his clocks out because he didn't like the ones that come with it (can't understand why) and I think that's where his problem lies
Motorcycling and restaurant reviews. It doesn't get any better.
Cheers Charlie!
Motorcycling and strip club reviews might just edge it!
@@timmo3351 Why didn't I think of that!! Not sure Dan would be up for it.....
I'd like to see you try and sell that idea to Mrs Flyer 😂😂😂
Great video Andy good to watch something that is bike related but not just a straightforward review very entertaining loved the sense of humour the three of you share. Look forward to your next video ride safe.😊🏍🏍🏍
Good to hear!
Speed Twin sounds lovely!
Is that the stock exhaust?
I LOVE my B-Line here in the USA! I was the first to get one here and It is amazing. Triumph now lists it in their accessories. It is a genius device!
TMF, your bike comes across on the mic really well! Sounds very good indeed!
Yes sounds lovely doesn’t it….
@@TheMissendenFlyer if I'm not mistaken, the actual exhaust note features on your intro?
Think in all honesty we have to cut all these pubs, restaurants and eateries a bit of slack. Closed for ages, most of the old staff get other jobs then suddenly all these places are packed.
Yes, staff is difficult to hire and retain.
Yes fair point….
Mr Flyer. Being an ex Matelot I can confirm that SCRAN is indeed a naval term. It's my understanding that it's derived from a ration that contained Sultanas, Currents, Raisins And Nuts.
It is indeed a naval term. The Army call their food ‘scoff’ and the RAF call their food ‘room service’! 🤣🤣🤣
I also heard that the Navy navigate by the stars, the Army sleep under the stars and the RAF choose their hotels by the stars!!
@@markwivell1817 👍👍👍🤣🤣🤣
Nice…
The new speed twin. You get the clock by pressing the *i* button until it comes up. I test rode it last week.
Very nice video. Entertaining story, super nice guys with great natural attitude in front of the camera.
enjoyed watching this.
Thank you TMF.
Please do this more often... Enjoyed the video with your mates🇮🇳👍🏽
Yes it’s a regular series - stay tuned for more…
Thanks for another fun video; I feel like I’m one of the friends with you on the scran. (And really I agree that a four rating is harsh, Mate. It looked like a proper pie, and mashed potatoes will always elevate a score in my book.)
I think I was generous! Glad you enjoyed the vid!
Been to both the pubs there, The Boat is probably the best one. There’s a Canal Museum just before the tunnel that’s got a rare sign for the Uttoxeter Canal! If you want an absolutely cracking Canal Side pub try the Great Western at Aynho….good place to take Mrs Flyer for a treat! Have a good one! 👍
I’ve been to the Great Western at Aynho. Agree that it’s a great pub.
Thanks for the tips….
@@TheMissendenFlyer no prob Andy! Great series by the way; the Scran vids are excellent!
“Industrial garlic bread” 😂😂
Biker Scran with Geoff and Dan didn't turn out quite as planned. Little bit of poetry there.
As usual very entertaining. As much as I hate UK for leaving EU I keep finding myself getting back to British motorcycle youtubers for their informative and entertaining videos. I love the landscape, the language and the Triumphs!
Those exhausts sound terrific. I bet they are not stock?
Actually they sort of are - they’re the Vance and Hines ones that Triumph offered as an option on the first Speed Twins - sadly they’re not available for the current bike….
Hi Andy, you're right about "Scran" being a naval term, I worked as a Diver with a ex-Royal Marine and ex-Navy guy and they were always on about "Scran" never grub or food. Back in the '90,s we always went to the Little Chefs the "Olympus" fried brekky was mega.
I miss the smell of Little Chefs - yum!
Great weather for the time of year. I made a 1300 mile trip the week before last from The Isle of Wight to Scotland, following the Three Kingdoms Way from Adventure Rider, ( King Alfred, Winchester, Aethelflaeda, Tamworth and Bamburgh Castle) and back by The Lake District and Offa's Dyke, and including the scene of Alfred's decisive battle at Erdington ......and only got stuck behind one motorhome ...no white vans!
Wow - that is an epic ride, and doubly epic not encountering any white vans! (they were all around me)
The Gentlemen’s t-shirt ”Don’t follow me , I’m lost ” vs your Gps that didn’t work was somehow spot on 🙄. Nice v-log !
Thanks 👍
And yet they [well Dan] located the Navigation Inn!
@@TheMissendenFlyer did you figure out why the beeline did not worked?
@@bernardomigueis9229 Not yet
I watch all you videos TMF but I think I do enjoy the scran ones the most 👍🏼
Glad you like them!
I enjoy the bantering that goes on between you fellows as much as anything else in these videos. 👍🏻❤📷🍽🏍💕
Glad you enjoy it!
Have to say I love the sound of your “street twin”. All joking aside impressive bike and health to ride. Keep up the good work 👍👍
Yes it sounds good doesn’t it - nice low rumble with the odd pop and bang thrown in….
Great video as usual, as a chef I can verify that the catering sector is in dire straits, I’m running with a third of pre COVID staffing . Thanks to brexit!
Please be understanding of the supply difficulties we are experiencing with staff and food.
My Speed Twin has a clock.
Bluddy brexit eh! Self inflicted mega problems.
@@gzk6nk I don't think the foreign staff would have come back after covid anyway. Travel is still totally messed up. At this point know one knows what the future holds.
@@chrishart8548 Covid has been a handy smokescreen for the unfortunate effects of brexit for this government (and brexiters). But now that smoke is clearing and we clearly see that if you have a hard right brexit that includes draconian foreign worker rules it WILL result in problems in businesses which depend on such labour,. Such as hospitality. This is my last word on this as it's TMF's channel and it's about bikes, not politics.
@@gzk6nk fair shout bloody brexxit and covid. De rails most conversations.
You should have gone to the proper Navigation at Cosgrove. Much nicer gastropub with seating right on the canal. Well worth a visit.
What no sausage! Thanks for the ride Andy, I always enjoy joining you on your road trips. :>)
Ahh my local biker cafe! You should have swung by Olney for a coffee 👍🏻😂
Another great video. Always good to see you and the lads. As it's 12:40 am I am off to bed but as always looking forward to your next video till then good night, oops I mean good morning since that's what it is where you reside.
I really enjoyed that video, I like the places you show and your friend has fished...winner in my book..lol
Refreshed by the honesty, if not the food. Happy travels
I would gladly watch you test ride Geoff and Dan bike and get their feedback on one of yours :-)
Next time lads it's the Boat House, beautiful pub and food.
Where’s that then??
@@TheMissendenFlyer it was the one you looked at before the Navigation
Stoke Bruerne used to be a staple day out from school, but I don’t suppose we went to either pub! Still, nice over run exhaust sound from the Speed Twin, and any dry day out on the bike has to be a good one.
Agreed!
Nice video I m glad you enjoyed yourself. Nice roads. Thanks Andy, much appreciated.
My pleasure…
Great day as any day you get to spend with friends/motorcycles/sunshine/reasonable food is a great day indeed, bring on more of these!
Cheers M
Will do!
A good route from where you are is A413, Aylesbury - Buckinghan then A422 Deanshanger, A5. Or A413 Buckingham and stay on 413 to Whittlebury then right onto A43 Towcester, right again back down A5.
Yes I know those roads quite well….
The three Geezers off-piste. Brilliant!
Shame The Sausage was shut. I go there fairly often from Aylesbury and always find some great roads. It looks like your sat nav was set to avoid bends. I would recommend going to Winslow, then right to Nash and Beechampton towards Stony Stratford but turn left about a mile before and go through Passenham then onto the A5 via the A422. As you found there are some great roads around Stoke Bruene . I have a TomTom 550 and it has Thrill Ride option, its a great way of finding a twisty route
Nice one - next time!
No clocks on any of my bikes until recent purchase of Tiger 800. Just needed to stick on a small clock onto the handle bars. Job done. Very critical diners 😋
"Dont follow me, im lost" absolute lad :D
Enjoyed that Andy! 👍
Thank you John! No pasties alas!!
Dear TMF, press the info button a few times to display your Speed Twin clock 👍
I tried that I'm sure - I'll go and have another try...
@@TheMissendenFlyer did you find your digital clock? Ps The 'Super Sausage' used to be one of our lunch-stops on a day-run with Suffolk Police driving school
I have to say, I actually think you should do more of these vids. I think the format is a winner. especially if you do actually find some good food somewhere... thumbs up from me buddy...
Thank you Dean!
We used The Navigation a few years ago when picking up a canal boat for a weeks holiday and had the mixed grill was enormous double lamb chop liver large pork chop 2 sausages 2 fried eggs steak gammon steak big pile of chips on a separate plate with mushrooms onion rings and veg when I had finished this was lunchtime we did not bother to eat till a very light breakfast of just toast and coffee it was brilliant then but I had heard that it had changed hands and not to bother going back that The Boat was the best bet for a reasonable lunch
Yes I’d strike it off your list for sure…
25+ years ago I used to live in Milton Keynes and that pub was the weekend spot. Their food back then was fantastic, the garden was different too. I remember inside being a warm traditional country pub, with a roaring fire and a dog bowl by the bar.
The type of things I miss here now in Austin Texas.
I ride a 2019 Street Twin, not to be confused with a Speed Twin 😉..
Always great videos, keep them coming!
Wow - yes inside the building was lovely - just the service and food that was shockingly bad....
get those guys some TMF neck warmers Andy..........
Hi Andy great video. Next time ride through Buckingham which is a fabulous road.
Yes that is a much better route (which I’ve done many times….) will do that when we revisit….
Your Speed Twin sounds great.
I think so too!
It has a clock! Got the same bike. Left screen. Or is the display different in Belgium?
I used to live round those parts and when I heard you were heading to Stoke Bruerne I feared you’d end up there. Lovely spot though.
I live in Banbury and all of the routes to the Super Sausage are wonderful swoopy roads, with some very picturesque villages through which to quietly trundle. I even braved this morning's fog to enjoy some breakfast there this morning.
Was it good?
Looks like a lovely place Andy.. there nothing like a good pub on a canal. Locally here they just opened up a pub called the Union Jack, although it looks more like a fancy McDonalds on the inside, but it is English food👍.
Lovely place, crappy food and service!
You need to film a couple of long rides on the speed twin, I could listen to it all day! I rarely have a clock on any of my bikes, I do a very old fashioned, traditional thing. It's called 'looking at my watch '...
Yes tough in gloves and a tight cuff on your jacket though.....
@@TheMissendenFlyer winter gloves, yes, but short summer gloves I've never had a problem with. And dead easy to have a quick look when waiting at lights. The problem with clocks on bikes is they encourage you to ride faster if you're late for something. I drive for a living and I'm constantly clock watching. It's nice to get away from that when on a bike....
@@robbikebob I’m left handed - watch on right wrist. Looking at the time tends to slow us lefties down…
My Speed Twin definitely has a clock ! As does the beeline (when working)
On my T120 there isn't a colon between the hour and minute display and it's in 24 hour format. E.g. 2:30pm would not be 14:20 but 1430. So it can look like another trip counter unless you know what to look for. I assume the speed twin would be the same.
Aha! Maybe that’s my issue - I’ll check…
Next time you go to The Sausage try a different route. From Aylesbury take the A413 through Winslow to Buckingham then at Buckingham the A422 past Deanshanger to the A5. The turn left and the cafe is just up the road. A more interesting ride and less congestion.
Yes that’s the route I’ll take on the return trip for sure….
You guys should do your own channel…what a treat…enjoy
As entertaining as usual thanks. That pie and mash looked washed out... I wont be visiting that establishment. Pack lunch?
….would have been a better option!
Perfect love the scran vids 🏍💨
Good to hear!
Although a dyed in the wool northerner, I lived in northampton during the 80s and visited super Sausage many times, and indeed Stoke bruerne. Yam Fz750 at the time.
The lasagne looked ok 😄
Oh the hardship! no sat nav , no clock ,go pro dead ,average food . Sorry young Mr Flyer that sounds a bit ...... ok im not going to say it because I respect you too much ..
Peace and love brother
👍🏻☮❤
The SpeedTwin. I bought one on your recommendation flyer. It’s the best bike I’ve ever owned . Thank you 🙏
Glad you enjoy it!
I thought on the left hand lcd if you scroll through it had a 24hrs clock ⏰ i can confirm the Street, T100 & T120 do
Four you gave them four and it looks like you licked your plate!
Yes well beggars can't be choosers!
I think that says more about how hungry Andy was more than how good the food was... 😅
@@robbikebob Exactly right!
😂
Oh, Jack's Hill is under new ownership and I'm told it's now very good. Even had bubble & squeak!
Yes so I hear - must check it out!
Haha...I always get Street and Speed Twin confused. I picked up the new Speed Twin 3 weeks ago and even the dealer confused Street and Speed when I called to check on status of my first service. Absolutely love my Speed Twin. Sold my BMW R9T earlier this year in anticipation of the Speed Twin and am absolutely thrilled with it.
Good to hear Martin - do you miss anything from the R9T?? I wondered about swapping my Speed for one at one point…
@@TheMissendenFlyer No the 2022 Speed Twin caught up to and surpassed the R9T. The handling is superb and the brakes are now on par.
You three ought to have your own television show called bikers and food🤪🤪🤪
But we have our own UA-cam series!
I recommend Danish Camp, on the outskirts of Bedford. Great location, nice food. It's frequented by little groups from the BMW riding school, which is how I came across it in 2015. Some good roads around and about too. Like the Super Sausage, it pays to go off piste to find some twisties .
I must say that was a rather good video TMF, thanks 🙂.
I’m glad you liked it!
Funny that the guy with the 'Don't follow me, I'm lost" shirt was the trip leader.
Great video Andy thought you were a bit harsh with your food score though.
I thought I was generous!
Mr TMF, if you go there again let me know as I now a route from Aylesbury I guarantee you will enjoy.,
If ur 'up north' you could try the highest pub in England.....Tan Hill. Has accommodation and live music on a weekend. Great location for riding into Teesdale/Weardale/North Yorks.
To get the clock on my Speed Twin I just press the "i" info button on left handle bar a few times (I think it's 5 times to toggle through the other info) and that displays the clock in a digital 24 hour format. If you've not set it up yet then it will not be showing the correct time so you'll need to look in the manual to see how to set the correct time.
Will the new Suzuki GSX-S1000GT be available in your area for you to review?
I hope so!
Service and food quality dropped dramatically here in the US as well. Prices are up to the contrary.
really enjoying the video, had to laugh though you rated it a 4 and the veggies weren't good but your plate was clean as🤣
I was hungry!
I got myself all excited when you mentioned jacks hill cafe. I’ve actually stopped there a few times. Well actually the truck park around the back. Always enjoyed the scran but it’s a bit rough and ready. Even for truckers 😜
Yes in fairness I’ve always found the food ok - as you say, just a bit rough though I’m told on here it’s under new management now and has had a refurb, so defo worth another try….
A good place in that part of the woods is Blaze inn saddles proper biker place and really friendly.
The reason the Triumph "Speed Twin" doesn't have a clock is because... you're stepping back in time.
A long weekend in South Africa and both yesterday and today I took the R1200gsa on 200kms of dirt road tracks each of the two days. Being winter it is very dusty, thick sand and hilly ascents are very rocky. The GS was much more comfortable than any previous bike I took on these routes (KTM 1190 adv r; KLR 650; Honda Transalp; F800gsa) and handled the very difficult terrain amazingly well, weight was a non issue. What ended up being a royal pain however was reigning in all that power. Cruising at 60km/h fell between 3rd and 4th, with 3rd having too much torque and 4th resulting in exceeding safe speeds too easily. The minute throttle control started to get challenging as my wrist tired out with speed control, never a good idea on these type of roads, not being an option in enduro mode. Would be nice if I could have dialled in the rain mode throttle response while in enduro mode.
@@markpavlowski7223 Indeed, she’ll kick my ass off road!
Morning Andy
What model HJC helmet are you riding with? Been looking at the rpha 70 Kroon and the F70 but not sure whether to steer away from my modulars
Thanks
Mike
Mines the RPHA11
Sounds cracking that Triumph Speed Twin , its got a lovely rumble
Yes it does doesn’t it!
I'm from Sunderland. Scran is a commonly used term for food 👍🏻
Always enjoy these videos 😁
Really! Interesting fact - thanks…
Amusingly you rode past the Boat which is a far better option, or at least it used to be!! The Super Sausage used to be my daily brekkie halt en route from Watford to Towcester when I was doing a project there. Great food, great people and great service!!
Agreed! Next time….
I will definitely try the Super Sausage when I am down that way next week. Might give the place you went to a miss, food didn't look too cleaver
The word "scran" does mean food, and it's used all the time in Liverpool. It's an early 18th century synonym for a bill at a tavern; the origin is unknown. Later, it was used by the British military (Navy and Army) to mean "food". You'll hear it being used in Northern England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, particularly in County Antrim.
Love the scran videos. Always on the lookout for biker stops! I’ve tried some of your recommendations and also been to Super Sausage. Great breakfast! I can recommend a few others to try for future vids...Cod and Waffle in Leighton Buzzard, Billy’s on the Road near Billingshurst (best breakfast menu choices I’ve ever seen!) and a new bike stop recently opened up this year is the Iron Bull Roadhouse just outside Hook, Hants. Hope you get to revisit Super Sausage soon! 👍🏻
Great recommendations thank you!
Always enjoy the Biker scran with Geoff and Dan videos. Will await the Super Sausage experience. Looks like a lovely village. So, do Geoff and Dan have side bets on which motorcycle you will show up on?
I dunno - I like to keep them guessing!
Sunny English day with GPS and GoPro tech issues. Solar flares, obviously! 😂😂
Like to get the TMF perspective on the difference between the previous generation and the new Speed Twin; marketing hype or real world improvements?
Yes I’m getting the new one on soon for just that purpose - stay tuned!
Riding a bike, food with mates that's what it's all about. Any update on the Interceptor?
I’m hoping to pick her up next week!
Just watching this this morning and can’t believe you’re up my way 😃 in Stoke Bruerne.
Have you tried The navigation? Is it always that bad? Service in particular was shocking...
@@TheMissendenFlyer Hell no as yes it’s always bad 😂. We’ve been to the one over the road more, still not great but ok for a drink. I’m about 10mins away in Northampton.
Ah! Last of the summer Cider continues🤣
Always entertaining.... But "flow" on a canal Andy? 😂
My bad….
You should have head up to Idle Torque in Lutterworth! Well worth checking out and only forty minutes from Super Sausage Cafe.
Thanks for the tip!
That water looked well horrible bit like your lunch Mr Missendenflyer
If a canal has "a bit of a flow" they are in big trouble. (-:
OK OK we can't all be canal experts!!
I was going to say that its a canal not a river 🤔
You picked the wrong pub. In Stoke Bruegel you should have gone to the Spice of Brunei Indian on the opposite side of the bridge, or if you wanted a pub The Plough in Shutlanger or The White Hart in Grafton Regis.. Three of the best eateries in the area. Alternatively Granny’s cafe in Weedon village is excellent too.
Thanks for the tips!
