I have one of these and while they are very good at presence they are really too slow to use as your only motion sensor. I use a normal motion sensor along with the FP1 for lights in my office. Works great. The normal sensor turn lights on and the FP1 turns them off, as long as I am in the office they will not go off. Works great
great video, It has reminded me to check the settings and placement of the one sensor I picked up a few weeks ago. As it doesn't always see me playing couch potato, and turns off the light.
Didn't seem to occur to you that you can rotate the mounting plate 90 degrees to allow for horizontal swivelling. I have one of their cameras with a similar mount and that's how I have it set up. In fact, you can achieve any position by varying the rotation.
I'd start with resetting the unit and trying again. From there it'd be worth seeing if you can find some info on the forums Unfortunately I don't really have capacity to do troubleshooting
Yeah no worries. I didn't have any issues with pairing using ZHA in Home Assistant, it just worked for me. It's been a while since I actually used them to be honest cause I've been too distracted by other projects to deploy these in "production" It's possible that something might've changed in firmware or ZHA code that's caused this issue.
Useful to see it work so easily. May I ask which Zigbee co ordinator you use?. I have the older Sonoff bridge version and never get past the configuring device stage. My FP1 does work with an Aqara hub and their app fine so I can only assume a co ordinator issue.
Detecting non-occupancy is important - it seems like this unit is not working as designed. For example, I want this unit to detect my presence when I am not moving and detect when I am not in the room as this is significant for turning lights off in a room when no one is there (not just moving or not).
Agreed, Non-Occupancy is important. These devices are intended to detect even motionless humans in their detection range. I've not really done extensive testing, though others seem to think they do the job as expected. There MAY be more functionality when pairing with the Aqara Hub and Aqara App, so it might be that some of the functionality is missing because I just used ZHA.
I have been trying to connect this device to aqara app / apple homekit app, and even tried to understand how to use Home Assistant, but I couldn't do any of those... HELPPPP
Without knowing anything about your setup or what the actual issue you're having is, I can't provide any assistance. I'd recommend checking out various Home Automation forums. UA-cam Comments aren't what I'd consider a good Support mechanism.
Great review. Bought two of them immediatey. Only problem is, I have EU Aqara hubs and when I change it to China's servers I'll lose all my accessoires. Do you know if I can buy another hub, create another account andset this one to China's servers, but still be able to use my FP1 in current Homekit setup?
I wasn't aware it needed to be hooked up to The Chinese Server. That said, I don't see any impediment to doing it that way, but I can't guarantee it'll work. Honestly, I'm personally getting to the point of not wanting to use the aqara hubs at all and just using the Zigbee USB stick like in this video.
Yeah I bailed on using anything but the home assistant "skyconnect" for all my ZigBee devices, nice that it doesn't send data to random company servers as well
Thank you for going so in depth. Subscribing for more non cloud based Home Assistant tech. And a request: if you can stipulate a quick "will this work in 5 years when the manufacturer turns off the servers or app" award, that would be great for those of us that don't like to buy e-waste :)
I've not had a chance to test this but it's 100% on my TO-DO list. Our cat likes to jump up on tables when we're not around triggering the PIR Sensors so it'll be beneficial to not have her detected and setting off the alarm.
I haven't gone digging for the API just yet. I'd be interested to see more about these though. I suspect there'll be more work on the ZHA integration as time goes by.
Z-Wave is a lot more expensive for manufacturers to implement. Between with the reduced latency of thread and Aqara's newly announced Thread and Matter support I doubt you'll see a Z-Wave version.

Good tip! I'll have to do some more testing. I've not yet put these into production so really appreciate the tip.
Awesome, which motion sensor have you used? Is it as easy to set up as these?
great video, It has reminded me to check the settings and placement of the one sensor I picked up a few weeks ago. As it doesn't always see me playing couch potato, and turns off the light.
Glad it helped
Great video. I've tried ordering these from AliExpress. Two orders have failed to arrive. I'm going for third time lucky with my next order.
Sorry to hear that. Good luck with your next attempt.
hope Everything Presence One sensor from Lewis in future becomes available with less expensive postage
I'll have to check it out. I keep seeing it come up on my UA-cam feed.
Thanks for the video. I don't have a home assistant. Can I connect this directly to Echo 4th gen?
I'm not sure it'll work without the Aqara app in that case

It actually did occur to me, but only while I was editing the video and I forgot to put an overlay.
Hi just received mine today. When pairing mine comes up with no useable entities after interview. Your thoughts?
I'd start with resetting the unit and trying again. From there it'd be worth seeing if you can find some info on the forums

@@HiveMindAutomation that is fine wasnt asking for trouble shooting. Just asking whether you had similar issues. Cheers

I'm using the Nortek HUSBZB USB to Zigbee stick I demoed in ua-cam.com/video/fZqXKSD3VXw/v-deo.html
@@HiveMindAutomation Thanks

Did your occupancy sensor ever reset to clear? My approach / away sensors work but the occupancy is always detected. Any ideas what i'm doing wrong?
on one of them it did but took a while, on the other I still need to do more testing.
I had false positives due to a ceiling fan being on. I hid FP1 under desk so that it can see anyone in study, however not windows fans etc.
