The funnest little bike ever made. Unless you want to go 150 and risk certain death, the Dub is the perfect bike. My advice, never sell it. You will miss it, and buy another, and another, and another. Took me til my 4th one to realize this fact.
Nah, I'm not looking to go 150. Thank you for the advice, I appreciate it! I don't plan on selling it. This one will have a permanent spot in the garage. Have you done any upgrades to yours? I'm trying to figure out which rear rack to go with.
@@MOBStreet83IMO it is pointless to try power mods on a 200cc bike. There are a few mods that you should do. First off, skid plate. I went with Ricochet, and it is indestructible. Next, handguards, footpegs from Procycle, and the best rack for me, cycleracks. I pick up the rear from the rack all the time.
@floridalawdog thank you for the advice! The first mod I made was the hand guards and they've been great! I made an install/review video on those. I've decided to go with the cycle racks rear rack also. Good tip on the skid plate, I could've used it Tuesday hopping downed trees! Thanks again, I appreciate it!
I have a 2019 TW200, and I think it is a great bike. I bought mine new in 2021, so old stock. These are not normally imported to New Zealand, which is a real shame It also messn that we do not have the TW200 community, like the US does. . I am just glad I managed to find one.
Hey David! Thanks for taking the time to watch and to comment, I really appreciate it. I love my 2019, i think even more than my 2021. That is too bad that they don't import them to New Zealand, that is some absolutely gorgeous county you have over there! Well, maybe you can get the Tdub community going over there but you're always welcome to be part of ours as well! Have you seen my newest video on the Tdub community? Here's the link! ua-cam.com/video/FcCPiIpXyiU/v-deo.html Thanks again and all the Best!
Mine must have been intended for the US market, as the speedo is on miles per hour, instead of kilometers. MOBStreet 83, yes I cauvht your video, and have been checking out the TW200 forum.
@@MOBStreet83Three or four years ago, I saw a website that had the TW200. It was the perfect bike - like a farm bike, but street legal. So I went straight to my local Yamaha dealer, only to be told that they were not imported into NZ. Fast forward to this year. I had some spare cash, having just sold my Kawasaki W650. So I went to a different Yamaha dealer to pick out a farm bike. I lamented that the bike I really wanted wasn't available. The dealer said that this year a very few did come into NZ, and he would check if any were still avilable. I was amazed and said if he could find one, it was mine!.
I had been saying for almost ten year that I wanted one! After seeing how fun, simple and practical they are I finally was able to get one! Good luck with getting yours! Are you going to get new or try to find used?
Congrats on the new bike! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! I agree with you, mine has been the best money I have spent on a machine in a long time! Here's to the good riding days ahead! 🍻
I just bought the 2019 a few months ago, Matt. It's everything you say it is. Great review. I look forward to watching some of the work you're gonna be doing.
If that is out the door price I'd take it also! Best price I could find on mine was $4997 out the door! I'd say go for it, I haven't regretted it at all!
Lots of people have said something just like that. It would cease to be the TW if they did that. Running strong for 32 years must mean they've got something right.
Thanks for the video Matt, it was well done, to the point, and informative. In the process of buying one, looking forward to seeing your other videos. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Timothy, I appreciate it. Good luck with yours! I just finished a video about adding some hand guards to the bike. There will be a few more coming soon. Thanks again!
Man, that san pete accent is thick. I am a truck driver that makes a loop around these United States every week, i talk to people all over America on CB channel 19 and i aint never heard anyone talk like that... Unless i go home of course,. Looks like a great bike you will enjoy for alot of years, thanks for the great review.
Last week I went riding with family that had some 250 cc 2-stroke and 450 cc bikes. My son and I were riding our tw200 s. Don't get me wrong, all those other dirt bikes are fun and fast. And are really for a different style of riding. However, the T-dubs seemed to crawl more easily out of some sketchy spots with much more comfort and confidence. At least for us. The low unstallable first gear, low saddle height and fat tires make them really fun and capable machines on single track. And then you can ride them to work the next day.
@lance g. I went to South Valley Motorsports. No BS, just straight up told me what they would do it for. So I went with them. They beat everyone by at least $200.
I have seen them! I am pretty sure this was Suzuki's answer to the TW. They made it pretty similar in size to the Tdub with the same tire size and all. The seat height is almost an inch lower but I would really like to see one in person! I'm glad you're enjoying it!
Good choice on new in your area. They typically sell for around 1800-2800 in my area and those are for years ranging from 1996 - 2008. Have been wanting one of these bikes since 1998 and that I am finally in the market (for next summer), I am actually looking at a few other bikes. I personally don't feel the need to go over 250cc even though a 400cc would better fit my height and weight. These days my only concern is using it to get back and forth to work in town (live in a small coastal Alaska town) during the summers and just casually explore on the weekends.
@mrwaffles I've really enjoyed mine. I knew going into it that I didn't want a big bike. This has been plenty just to cruise through the hills and around town. I've moto-commuted on it and it's been good that way as well! Good luck choosing one!
Yeah, after calling 5 dealerships in my area I went with the one that gave me the best price right off the bat. Make sure you call around and I bet you can get a good deal on one as well!
That Honda Fat is a pretty cool bike also! Too bad they only made it for a couple years! I believe that is another reason for the TW's popularity, they're aren't many bikes like it still available from dealers........ but now Suzuki does have the Van Van......imitation is the best form a flattery!
TheTightShirts im at 35 percent volume on a 250 dollar laptop and i can hear everything just fine, I think theres something on your end that needs adjusting.

100% agreed. I have owned 3 myself and regretted selling EVERY TIME. Inarguably the most fun small displacement bike ever created.

@BillLent thanks for the comment! I've got a how to video that'll be done in a few days.

They should make a 400cc model.

I think it could still be a tw just a higher cc model, like how the xt250 had xt 350 and higher in the 80's

Did either of you end up buying a TW?
Which dealer did you choose? I may do the same thing as you, tired of looking at bikes with 7,000 miles 10+ yrs old and they want $3500 - I'm in SLC
@lance g. I went to South Valley Motorsports. No BS, just straight up told me what they would do it for. So I went with them. They beat everyone by at least $200.
Not to mention the 1987 on there I saw yesterday for $2500
There is a similar to this kind of bike it's a Suzuki van van 200, check it out
I recently bought one with no regrets

Thanks much! It's been a blast so far and there are plenty of future plans I'm putting into motion.
Like the vid I was thinking 🤔 about buying it because I want to ride on trails or just drive to work
@suprem e thanks for the comment! I've used mine for both and love it.
Simple nothing flashy but will get the job done on and off road good commuting bike
It has done everything I've wanted it to do!
Hey if you find that the 200cc isn't enough, you can swap the top of the engine with a xt225 top end. Not sure on the details but people have done it.
Thanks for the insight! So far it's done fairly well. I'll keep that in mind though.
