This video is really helpful because I only started using Affinity a week ago. I stumbled on your videos yesterday so to find I can undock the tool bar is such a life saver for an illustrator like me.
Thank you for your lesson on efficiency and good time management when using AP! And I appreciate that you speak loudly and at a good pace, not too fast or slow.
An excellent video tutorial indeed, Olivio. I thought I already had a reasonable understanding of the toolbar, but you have opened up new and exciting possibilities. I will be showing your video to my students. Many thanks :-D
Very clear and detailed. Thank you! The only thing I can't seem to find in Affinity is the option to dock the toolbar on the other side of the screen. I like keeping my tools next to my layers palette in Photoshop. I find it quicker and easier instead of having to navigate both sides of the screen. I'll just deal until that option is added (since I can't find it). Trying to get rid of Adobe monthly charges.
Very helpful, thank you! But is there a method to increase the UI font size? I have a colossal monitor, but the font in the toolbar and menu bar seem miniscule to me.
I think you can save different tool arrangements by using View/Studio Presets? I'm hesitant to go beyond my present arrangement because I don't want to have to redo it.
Thanks for this information, I was able to load the inpainting brush separately from the group because I use it the most, but I also left an icon for the group too. l noticed tools named Clarity and Defringe and many other names that resemble filters and I searched for a way to use them and kept getting instructions for the filter. I tried a couple and the effects are fascinating. I don't know if they are simply links to the filters or what--maybe you know? Are they destructive?
Thanks for the vid. As always , very helpful. I'm just starting to mess around with layers & I went to use the brush tool a couple of times & nothing was happening. Is there a way to link the brush tool too everything like color adjustments, etc. Thanks in advance for any replies.
Where do you have all those tools? I only have 4 rows. Thanks for sharing. I forgot to ask, is there a way to make all the panel icons and everything bigger. I can barely see them. Thanks again.
go to "view -> customize tools" to adjust them in any way you like :) I'm not sure if AP supports UI scaling, but you OS should have an option for that. :)
@@OlivioSarikas After opening "View - Customize Tools" in there you have about 103 icons. I only have 42. Did you installed more tools? How do you do that and where you get them? Thank you so much for your help.
You explained everything but one and that is the one I need to know ,in your page you have a horizontal panel at the top where opacity is, also add subtract selection, this is what Im looking for , so far nothing so how do I enable it once it has dissapeared .You went all around it but I think this is a rare occasion how can this happen , it seems it hasnt happened to you but I think it has , thanks

Hi, thanks for a very informative lesson, but how do I get the window to float freely when I select "New view". I try to pull it down from where it is fixed, but nothing happens. It would make it easier for me to have the same image open in different magnifications while I was editing it, a very useful tip. How do you do this?
Hi iapia58, click and drag in by the grey bar on top of the window that also says the name of that document. this will unsnap it and you can place it anywhere on your screen
@@OlivioSarikas Hi again, that's exactly what i do, but nothing happens. I have watched your movie several times and I do just like you. It struck me now, can there be any difference if you work on a mac or pc or is there a setting I missed? I have mac.
.. found an answer on Affinity forum, there is difference on mac and pc in this case. If anyone else has the same problem, here is the link: forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/111750-is-there-a-way-to-view-two-documents-side- by-side /
I lost the tools on the right side and cant find them as i dont know what they are called they do not default back so once lost are not reloaded so whats the secret here what am i looking for
Wow, the more I watch your videos, the more I’m inclined to buy Affinity Photo, I’m on the fence between this and Luminar, I definitively don’t want to get PS or LR and have to pay a monthly fee. Thank you for sharing so much valuable information.
for me, i like luminars slider style effects, i am only an amateur & like simplicity. but yes, i think , to your question. also, i think affinity may be above my editing knowledge, really just learning as i go.
You guys just missed out. They were running a sale for almost a month on Photo and Designer. They will probably run another one when Publisher is released.
nope, got mine during black friday sale...good deal! Luminar was also on sale then, but i didn't have funds for both, not knowing i would like them so much.
I wish Affinity would make the toolbar sticky so it would stick to the panels on the right hand side of the app. I'm right handed and it makes much more sense to have all controls on the same side rather than having to slide the mouse across the entire screen, back and forth. Yes, I know I can move the toolbar to the right side but it isn't sticky to the right side. And yes, I know I could use shortcut keys to change some tools--and I do--but the option should still be there. It's not that difficult a program change. Geez, even that program called Photoshop has that capability.
Another resourceful video. In minutes I solved a tool problem or two. Thanks again, Olivio.
Man, what an excellent video. You helped my workflow speed up a lot. Thanks man!

This TOOLBAR SECRET is another one to watch and learn! Thanks Olivio!

How do I increase the toolbar icon size?
I like watching your videos. I saw putting the color wells under the stamp remove tools etc. How do I put the color well at the bottom of the toolbar?

is there any way to make tool icons bigger. ? so I get the same size as in Gimp + Inkscape ^^
and thank you for making so many good tutorials.
War sehr aufschlussreich, besonders die Erklärung mit den 8 Spalten der Werkzeuge. More Secret Stuff ;-)

Doubleclick into the empty space of the "tools" to dock or undock; quicker than through menu

Go to "view -> Show Context Toolbar" :)
Grasias.
How do you change the size of the tool in the menu ? I cant see that well because they are small.
Hello Olivio!
Very very useful the "New View" command. Super useful. I never used it. Now I will do :)
Thanks.
Can the tool icons be made bigger? They're so small...
Some I how all the tools and toolbar went away. I'm in a project with a deadline! Does know what I did and how to fix it!
Hello. The right toolbar disappeared for me but the left is there. Do you know how to get it back again? Thanks
go to View -> Studio -> reset Studio that should fix it hopefully
