As another member said. Absolutely world class as usual Lee. Great drills. For anyone else who's taken part really exhausting. But that's the point !
Self check afterwards is a gold standard part of your training

When he mentioned bystanders, it occurred to me it would be wise to teach wives and kids to run FROM you. Scared kids tend to hide behind parents, scared women tend to hide behind men, and now they're in the line of fire. Sometimes they hold onto you, so now they're impeding your motion. Them running away is better for you and them.
Plus, the running-away people will probably distract the enemy for a moment -- "Should I shoot at that?"

The should I shoot at that last comment is not a good selling point. When "that" is your wife and kids.
      But all in all agreed.

Excellent as always! We teach in the case of a firearm and bludgeon weapon control the firearm at the hand as demonstrated, "meat to metal", in the case of an edged weapon, control the hand at the weapon. Also, in the case of a semi-automatic pistol at least one round may be fired when the firearm is grabbed, so keep in mind unintended targets. After that with your hand on the slide, a further function of the pistol most likely will be impeded due to the pistol being "out of battery." If the pistol is to be used against the offender, make sure to tap the magazine hard, and rack the slide to reset the pistol for operation. Another consideration would be if the firearm is recognized as a revolver, it would be important to keep your grab behind the cylinder, as when fired hot gases will escape from the front of the cylinder.

Firearm malfunction drills would be very familiar to many American defenders, but I would imagine not to Europeans or others from restrictive countries.

I humbly would like to point out a "mistake" done in the exercise around 9:30 when seizing the gun from someone, do not just point it to the person... as the gun might not be armed.... IF you want to "use" the gun afterwards and not throw it far away... always make a loading movement, as that would chamber the gun if unchambered OR eject the charged ammunition and load another (or unload the gun if there was only one ammo in it). this was done perfectly by the bearded dude at 12:40. love your videos and books btw.

Lee, excellent points about taking into account of possible innocent bystanders that could end up as a casuality whether they be strangers, friends, or FAMILY which could be REALLY tricky like Steven Scott pointed out how family members tend to cling to their head of household out of FEAR during life threatening situations and that families should agree that other members of that household should RUN away from the AREA while heading to the closest Police Station !!! LOVE the correct hand positioning while getting out of the line of fire as you put the HURT on your attacker the FIRST time will PREVENT you from ending up in a WORSE situation should he have either another gun or knife !!! OTHERWISE, just give them your wallet and carry your ID and credit cards in business card holder in your other pocket
    like I do.
    THANK YOU AGAIN SIR !!!

As always great presentation, explanations and drills. I live in the USA and without getting into the dynamics of the gun violence here I would like to raise a concern when it comes to gun disarming. Not whether the technique will work but rather if the technique worked and you now have the attackers weapon in your hand you now become the potential target of law enforcement. I have been training in offensive/defensive tactics most of my life and have asked law enforcement officers what they suggest in this situation. Assuming you have physically neutralized the attacker (rendered unconscious or incapacitated their ability to move) so they can not continue to come at you most officers have said something to the effect of putting the gun down in plain site and stepping far enough away from it so that you are not perceived as a threat. Then sit and wait for the officer/s to approach you and follow their directions. Of course it becomes even more dynamic if we are engaged in a hand to hand battle with the attacker because you have been unable to strip them of the gun and you are holding onto it for your life when law enforcement arrives, now you are both a threat. We have to always remember that while we could win the fight we could still lose our lives. Overall, the officers whom I worked with and trained with have no absolute right answer other than to realize if you have a gun in your hand your are a threat. Stay safe.

Tip, present yourself like the good guy. Imagine you show up at a scene and a guy in a button-up oxford shirt and slacks is fighting with a guy in a dirty old t-shirt and torn-up jeans. Who you would immediately assume is likely the bad guy here? I've been in situations where being dressed well immediately granted me the benefit of the doubt off the bat. Whether it be right or wrong, how you present yourself and how others perceive you can be important. Granted this won't always help you, but you are stacking the deck in your favor by doing this.

Move the gun further out, because it it goes off, the blast may burn your eyes/face, the sound of the blast may injury to your ears on the spot (which may have its effect on you), but may also may you move your head away from it, instead of it from you, causing you to lose proper control. So control from the beginning, pushing/controlling the gun further away, but not to far, we don't over extend. And, we don't keep it out there, but we almost simultaneously use, it or our knees, explosively against him, till we have the gun in our possession.
PS. A huge problem with these fake guns, is that the trigger cannot be pulled as it may in real life. This allows you do things that may endanger you and others. While you break the guy's finger on the trigger, you are actually making him shoot the gun! I appreciate you Lee, but we all have space to learn.

We trained this when I was in the military. It only works if the person holding the gun is within 30 centimeters from you or actually puts the muzzle of the gun directly in contact with you. If he is further away pointing the gun at you then you have no chance of disarming him. For that reason, we were taught never to put our gun in direct contact with the other person's body as it increases the risk of being disarmed. Only an inexperienced thug would get that close to you with a gun. A gun is a medium-range weapon so it makes no sense to get in someone's face with a gun as you would do with a knife. An experienced attacker would never do that.

This should be taught in schools. No martial art I have ever done even comes close to this. They are pathetic in comparison.
Self medical triage - blinding Lee. As a Paramedic I think this is both amazing and critical and is something that I've never seen in any dojo. Namaste x

Love Lee’s work but on Gun defence I would recommend to Lee that he checks out Idan Abolnik Kalah Israeli Combat System.
His Gun defences are best I have seen under pressure testing.
He explains why you must control the weapon arm.

I once had a pistol thrust under my chin. It was after being jumped by two professional street criminals. They used all the tricks. Starting with deception, distraction, and surprise. Yelling in my face like cops would. Then a third asshole threatening to blow my head off. I admit that I was alone and drunk and mistakenly walked down the wrong street. I had my back against a wall with four hands on me before the gun came into play. All I could do was give up my wallet. I'm super lucky that they ran off immediately after taking it. The only harm was psychological and the minor nuisance of getting cards and ID replaced.
I love seeing good gun disarms. But not being stupid is the best defense.

This looks delusional as you only going to do what your opponents is allowing you to do. Both parties know exactly what is going to happen Notice how the guy that is holding the gun is playing along and never fights back, an or counter the teacher his action? What if a woman is in this situation? Man have faster reaction time, are faster, stronger, bigger than women, and you also having to factor other things in like, height, location, clothing. When you go for a gun you describe, the gun prob will get fired, The average person man or woman will not know what to do when this happen and the gun recoils/bounce back. There are to many things being thought that look cool, but will get you killed when this actual happens.
