This blew me away. His mannerisms, the writing, the editing. Everything is top notch. This was such a solid episode.
It was just amazing!!!! Like you say....all of it was PERFECT!
It was even perfect as an illustration of how small Colin Jost's head is. We're all used to seeing him look small next to the hugeness of Michael Che, but in this sketch we see Jost not only looks small; he *is* small.

I'm wondering why they don't include the Please Don't Destroy guys in regular sketches considering they're better than much of the new cast (except Marcelo).
@@jag5014 Probably for the same reason they don't use Colin Jost or Michael Che in skits. To try and keep those parts of the show stronger writing-wise. I personally don't find any of the Please Don't Destroy Guys to be that great though and are my least favorite part of the show right now (right after Mikey Day). I definitely prefer Marcello Hernandez, Michael Longfellow, and Molly Kearney (she won me over with the new hire sketch). Devon really hasn't had a breakout moment for me to have an opinion yet.
@@alexc.7375why Michael Longfellow? For the longest time, I didn't know who he was. After finding out who he is, i can see why I don't know him much. He is someone who blends well with the background.

That chancla was very delicate looking, no? I kinda imagined it would be more solid looking. And then this ballet shoe came out.
This guy was absolutely hilarious. He was committed to his character from start to finish and his jokes were out of the, box and clever, and socially relevant. nice to see SNL making fun of the world we live in for once instead of just sticking with formless absurdism.

Only 3 other Latino actors have appeared on SNL in 48 Seasons: Melissa Villaseñor, who is of Spanish and Mexican descent, Fred Armisen, whose mother is Venezuelan, and Horatio Sanz who is a Chilean-born. Marcello who is Cuban and Dominican is number 4. He is going to stand out on the show and then move into films. Guaranteed!

Every Caribbean Latin person knows about The Power Of The Chancleta! It was either a disciplinary aid or a reminder of what would happen if you didn't behave. And paired with the words "Do you know what it is?", it was enough to scare the bejesus out of you and put you on your best behavior ever. As a Puerto Rican, I can tell Marcello was very on point and nailed it! 🩴🩴🩴

Considering that Jim Carrey actually auditioned to be on SNL and got scared off by a man threatening suicide by jumping off a ledge at Studio 8H (and that the sketch show Jim was on -- In Living Color -- featured Damon Wayans, who was a cast member on SNL and got fired for improvising), that's more accurate than you think.
Also: Marcello Hernandez looks more like a less stoned James Franco to me.
