I was born in Memphis, TN and raised in Blytheville, AR then moved back to Memphis, TN then moved to Nashville, TN. Perfect man. My mum was in hospital for 5 weeks. We almost lost her. She was in a distant place for about two days. I sat with her and played music. I played this and sang along and a few of your songs amongst all the music I played, when she came to she was humming this song. She asked me to play it for her tonight and sing to her. She can’t see the video because she had a small stroke in the middle of all that happened and went partially blind, but she can sure hear good. We cried lots tonight. Remembering things. Things we’d both forgotten about. Thank you for your music Marty.

Wow this one makes me remember a very special person who passed away. He loved singing this song and we loved hearing him sing. He was shy and never dated and hid from others and became an alcoholic. He development liver disease and they put on the transplant list, but alcohol got the best of him. God I miss that big olé gentle giant. He will always be in our hearts and now I can see him singing through you. Ty ty

I didn't know my father that much growing up. But there are three things he instilled in me:
1. Be truthful, meaning don´t intentionally lie and don´t use the truth to just hurt others
2. Always get back up
3. Be present in every moment you have with the ones you love
This song has gotten me through times when the truth hurt, when I was knocked down, when I felt like I was all alone on the dock of the bay with nothing and no-one. But, it always lifts my spirit to hear it, even when everything is just fine. I guess it reminds me that there´s always something good in your life, sometimes you just have to take a moment to look a little harder for it. I´ve felt alone, but I´ve never really been alone, not when I take that moment and remember the three things my father instilled in me.
Marty Ray Project So, when I say I love your version, I’m being truthful and when I heard you sing it, it reminded me to take that moment. So thank you.
I wanna drop one thousand expletives to drive the point home on how great this was..... but, I won't. Cheers!

I scoured the internet for someone to actually sing this song with true pain and emotion in their voice and not just to show of their vocal chops. You hands down have the best and most soulful cover I've seen by a mile and the guitarist actually supports the song instead of playing loudly over the singer. You have my respect; like and subscribed.

Ottis who wrote and sang this song went into the studio, layed down the track then passed away the next day, if you listen to the original song you can hear the tiredness in his voice because he was just about to pass on! Now thats a real feel song! I didnt agree with you Ottis and Blue letting david ruffin go after he gave you “My Girl” and “Aint To Proud To Beg” when you had control over the temptations but amazing job on this final piece of yours Ottis! I listen to this one alot when im stressed and tired from life, so thank you Ottis. . .
