Excellent video.
Thank you very much!
I'm surprised you didn't mention the Lock Bar Stabilizer/Overtravel Stop. Very important design updates to most frame locks. Before it is said, I am fully aware 99% of the time they are not needed. However, an additional fail-safe is never a bad thing and offers extra durability/longevity for frame locks.
Overall awesome video!! Keep up the great content brother!!
Great video man. My poor thumb needed that explanation
😁
THX for the infos.
Thanks for watching!
Ive always been curious about the details and variations on the different Spyderco knives that use titanium framelocks and detent balls, specifically the bowie, Mcbee, the Swayback, drunken, techno series... Ect.
The only frame locks I own that I havent taken apart yet are my Heretic wraith manual and my Microtech/Rike knives Annax. Its funny because im a baby that gets claustrophobic or something while dealing with Itegral pivots so I usually just leave off messing with them unless I really have to replace or adjust something.
Thanks for the video! Very interesting. The Medford almost looks like a chunk of tungsten carbide glued in, like machining tooling. I know first hand, that TC will shatter like glass if you drop it.
I worked at a mechanical seal shop, and dropped an $800 TC seal ring. It shattered. The only thing harder was diamond, which is why the lapping plates were impregnated with diamond paste.
TC is crazy stuff
I wish my SHF was carbidized. The lock bar has worn down and I needed to adjust the lock bar to remove up/down play. It worked but won't last forever. I hope they do a retro-repair in another year or so when its completely wore. Honestl, I was surprised at how fast the plain Ti lockbbar wore down. Otherwise, it's been my favorite knife which is why it's wore down, I love carrying it.
Damn that sucks
I thought strider was carbidizing now ??? If not maybe he should ...
I have heard rumors about carbidization on new performance knives but I haven't confirmed or seen evidence
