  • Do I need to wash rug hooking wool? Yes, because it makes it fluffier and nicer to hook with.
Washing wool for rug hooking is not like washing a wool garment. Show no mercy! Wash the wool just as you would a pair of blue jeans. Yes, you use soap. Yes, put it in the dryer. This process will get out anything that may be in the wool during processing including wool moth eggs. I wash every piece of wool as it enters my house unless I absolutely trust the source.
Washing makes the wool fluffy, something that I love about rug hooking wool.

I am buying dyed wool fabric on etsy to cut for rug hooking. Is it a good idea to always wash wool when I get it, even if it's already dyed? Can I was different colored wool fabrics together? Say greens and oranges, or might the dyes bleed into each other in the wool? Should I was pre-cut dyed strips?

Washing precut strips would be a mess. I am assuming you are buying from someone who knows the wool needs to be washed before it is cut. To prevent moths, use freezing instead if you are concerned. A better method is to buy only from people you trust.
You you can mix colors. If the dye bleeds, never buy from that supplier again. I do separate very darks from very light because the lint from one will get on the other.

Also, I'm assuming if I wash this wool with jeans, I can use a high spin cycle. Or should I use my washer's setting for wool, which is a low spin cycle?

I don't think it matters. You have a fancier machine than I do. Use the wool cycle if you have one.
