I have the new range man and I noticed after a week the display flickers ever so slightly every time the seconds change, you have to tilt it to get the right angle and when you see it, it’s hard to unsee it. I need to get in contact with Casio about it. The light sometimes flickers aswell when I press it

I got the classic mudman g9000 (nothing fancy like todays gadget), the one casio famously strapped on the outside of a rally car for the entire paris-dakar rally, and it survived with no issues. Bought it 15 years ago and its still running solid after hiking thru numerous tropical jungles in malaysia and cambodia during monsoons, the most active volcano in indonesia, the seas off philippines and thailand; and asides a few scuffs on the casing and band, the watch is as solid as the day i bought it. I bought it after i read the promo slogan for the g9000 at my local: "Use it like you hate it." It is tough s.o.b....

I love my GWG 1000 from Japan. Mine has the sapphire crystal and doesn’t have a single scratch in it to this day. He’s a big boy but worth every penny. Only negative I can think of is the negative display on that little LCD screen. Tiny print that is already hardly legible makes that feature on the watch kinda useless imo. But man if you’re a guy that likes compliments on your time piece; it’s definitely the watch for you. Mine has been in Iraq and Afghanistan and withstood that test with flying colors. Back in the days casio established a world record when a big truck run over a g-shock watch and it survived, it was a square model. I don't compare this new rangeman with old models, I was just curious what is the difference between the two in terms of design of the strap and case. The mudman is also a recent model and what can I understand from his videos is the fact that the mudman has no problems with the strap and screws. The design is very similar, but there is a difference in durability, considering that the rangeman is on his wrist for just a month. But in this video he doesn't talk about that.

The only thing about pressing the buttons while covered in oil and whatnot is it's not recommended by Casio to push buttons underwater (in your case oil and everything else lol.) . Unless it's a frogman that are designed for that. So oil and whatnot... Interesting it hasn't killed the watches in some way or the seals.

Yes, off course, G shock is designed to be abused but also, some maintenance should be done. When I say maintenance I mean cleaning.....a soft tooth brush and soapy water. I don't think that any watch will withstand the oil, diesel or anything like that for a longer period of time.....a gaskets will give up, and in the G shock there's a lot of gaskets. Even the too much heat can affect the watch, for example War Machine GWG1000 will lose the screen when the temperature inside the watch reach around 50 degrees Celsius (which is ok since there's operating range in the manual, not without the reason)...but as soon as the watch cool down, a screen will show a signs of life and it will work properly again which is really quick....maybe 2 minutes. I don't think that you will get the applause of the audience from Casio since someone from Casio probably watched your videos. I think it's time for some new mud resistant El Cheapo....for example TRT-110, Mudmaster GG1000, Mudman G9000,

Ok, this was a long video about two different watches, and features. Most of this comparison was already discussed in previous videos. After the latest videos about the new rangeman strap problems, I was more curious about the physical design differences between the mudman and the rangeman. You said the mudman is just an optimization. I think casio optimized the newer rangeman, but not in a good way. They are cutting costs in manufacturing and materials. The new business model is all about replacing your devices more often, just like smartphones. The engineers are working hard to design the weak points in every product. I recently replaced the green strap on gwg-1000-1a3er first generation mudmaster. Every part of the strap is attached to the case with two pins and two screws, also the wings under the strap are bigger, helping to maintain the position on the wrist. The new models are different with multiple little carbon parts on the bezel which are almost 100 usd to replace just one of them. This older mudmaster that I have use a single piece of resin bezel and it's way more cheaper to replace. So the optimization is not for us, it's for the manufacturer.

The comparison is flawed….. the mudman is a a budget release. You then go on to try downplay the range on fossil fuels etc…. Mate be consistent…. Your review is so defunct because of your inconsistency…..
I have both…. The mudman I have had the negative display…. And it is absolutely useless……
Then the features are polar opposites…. Which makes a like for like comparison redundant
But then still you are so biased and inconsistent that maybe many won’t pick up on….. mudman is no less durable to the range….. if you really believe so…. Show evidence…..
And back to my comment before around positive vs negative display….. you have the good one, being positive, but fml if you have the negative display, you may even change your biased review, because the negative displays are absolutely illegible!!! Who cares about dual compass displays when you cannot see anything!!!!! It is the only g shock I have ever considered selling!!!!
