I've listened to Moody Blues all the way back before Justin Hayward joined the group and as far as what it does to your mind that's why in the 60s and 70s we called it head music

I also love this band! Thank you for reacting to their wonderful music. Sadly, they seem to be underappreciated. I hope you keep listening.

Great choice!! "All the love you've been giving has all been meant for you."

Approximately 200 songs in their catalog and two concerts available on UA-cam (Moody Blues at Red Rocks 1994 and Royal Albert Hall in 2000). Try "The Voice" as performed at Red Rocks concert in Colorado. The first part of this song reflects the time period. This was during the Vietnam War and the protests against it, and also the progression of the Civil Rights movement.

Thanks Stan, great reaction. Other songs to check out are: The Voice, Ride My See Saw, Gemini Dream, Just A Singer (in a Rock and Roll Band). The Moody Blues are fantastic! ☮🖤🤘

I love The Moody Blues, as well. Do reactions to these Moody Blues songs: The Story In Your Eyes, New Horizons, Ride My Seesaw and It's Up To You. I think you will love all of those songs.

They are my favorite band! First discovered them in 1972 with nights in white satin.

This was the first band to regularly do "concept albums", albums in which each song was very much a chapter, even a component, of a whole story or statement. This is why they are PROGRESSIVE ROCK, although their work isn't as jazzz-influenced as other recognized bands of this genre (like Yes, or ELP).
Welcome to the world of prog! I recommend "You and Me" from "Seventh Sojourn". You'll love it!

    Loved your reaction, Stan! 😁
I've been an enormous Moodies fan ever since discovering "Days of Future Passed." My favorite tunes are almost always Justin Hayward compositions, though all of the group members contribute tracks.

"Melancholy Man" from the Question of Balance album is one of their most sonically interesting songs.

They're albums are entire stories. I started listening to them as a young teen. I wasnt a Christian. Since, there is no way not to hear the story of God & Man. When I hear Watching & Waiting, it sounds to me like its Gods perspective. The Moody Blues are in a league of they're own.

One of my favorite MBs songs - shows their whole range, rock to incredibly beautiful ballads. The middle section really shows off Justin Hayward's voice and songwriting.

their 2nd thru 8th album s are all considered concept albums and should be listened to in their entirety

I personally don’t consider their first album as from the same group. Justin Hayward and John Lodge were not with them yet and the style of music was completely different. Even drummer Graeme Edge considered that version of the Moody Blues as just another of the early bands he was in.

You get it Stan, The Moody Blues are one of those bands that takes you on journeys. Just like YES! I think it's time for you to react to YES again!🤩

You're dipping into the good stuff there man.
Edit. Check out "Steppin in a Slide Zone" (from their OCTAVE album) by the Moodies. Not one of their most popular songs but it reportedly tells the story of a UFO encounter by one of them band members when he came to the USA to record.
And the guitar licks are tasty.

Only 2 of the Moodies are still alive...the singer of this song, Justin Hayward and bassist John Lodge, still touring separately..

Justin Hayward has stated that he was writing two songs and decided to put them together to make one complete song.

This song came about when Justin was supposed to bring in new music for a recording session and didn't have anything ready. He had two songs he was working on both in the same key so he mashed them together and this is the end result.

This sounds very modern considering it was from 1970... have you done their masterpiece "Nights in White Satin" yet?

this was 2 unfinished songs, so he made them into 1. THE MIGHTY MOODIES

    • @pjg58x
      @pjg58x Місяць тому

Yup. That’s why the story is a little hard to understand because it’s from two completely different songs. Some reactors don’t get it because they don’t know the genesis of the song

It's not a Moody Blues song, but a banger I randomly thought Stan might like is Eric Johnson's "Cliffs of Dover".
