"That all the love you've been giving Has all been meant for you" - this lyric is on my brother's gravestone. He loved the Moody Blues and was the sweetest, most selfless human I have ever met. It seemed so perfect for someone who just gave love with no expectation of it being returned and often surprised when it was.
Jordan and Amber- you two NEED to keep taking breaks. You just took your first in, what, four years now? 3 videos a day for 4 years is admirable but insanely taxing work. You two need to go on vacations and have regular time off. You have money now, go enjoy life. We’ll still be here, promise ❤
@ I have ALL their Albums. I don’t have the greatest hits. I’m 72 years old, so I bought each album as it came out. Saw them in Concert 4 times and got back stage to meet them twice…except for Mike Pinder…Patrick Moraz had replaced Mike by then. 🍻 Cheers!
What I get from this Moody Blues classic is the frantic, hectic search for the meaning of life, only to realize that meaning is found in the calm, serene and beauty of a true love.
I had a tape I recorded of the air where the DJ faded from Clapton's "Layla" (the classic version) into Supertramp's "Even In the Quietest Moments". It made for a similar feeling as you describe.
Vietnam war-era song. Justin tried to express the angst of the young American soldier torn from home to fight an ugly war. MBs ended every concert with “Question”.💙
I saw the Moody Blues in person way back when, around 1970. They were as good in person as on their recordings. I’m 75 now and starting to fade away but I still listen to their Records. Unfortunately most of the Blues are my age now and they like me are fading. If there is life after death I hope I will see and hear them again in the afterlife. They are my second favorite group with first going to Journey. I have seen both groups in person many years ago. Both groups sound as good in person as they did on recordings. I miss those good old days….
Great memories! I'm so happy you have them to enjoy. ❤ I'm 68 but pretty physically limited with MS now. I'm eternally grateful for the treasure trove of magical musical moments. In the early 1980s, my singer husband introduced me to Willie Bobo at a performancein LA. I'd never heard of him, but that man and his band had everyone in the place moving. Jethro Tull was my first memorable concert experience. What a trip!
When I got out of the navy in 77 I painted journey 's office in San Francisco, didn't meet them that week, but in 2012 got to talk to Steve Perry at the San Francisco giants world series ,got our picture on the wall!
I saw them at the LA Forum in early 1971 and it was an amazing show. Mike Pinder with his mellotrons were still with them and it was an exquisite night.
The song 'Question' actually comes from their album A Question of Balance from 1970. 'Nights In White Satin' comes from the album 'Days of the Future Passed' from 1967.
Jay and Amber, you ended this reaction just right. There is your answer to "I'm looking for a miracle in my life." It is the love you share for each other and your beautiful children. Perhaps we cannot answer the great questions facing the WORLD, but we can answer the personal questions we face as we spend time with the people who listen to us and with whom we share our deepest thoughts. That is how I always interpreted this song, rightly or wrongly. Good to see you guys back. Keep up the great work.
I've been playing guitar for more than 50 years and I still can't strum as fast as Justin does on this song. I've seen them more than a dozen times starting back in 1973. Amazing in concert.
He open tuned his Guild 12 string to simplify the fretting, allowing him to concentrate on his right hand strumming. I'm a 35 year+ player, and I never had the right hand flexibility to strum it either.
The Moodys were way ahead of their time. I'm so glad I was around to hear them when they first introduced themselves to the world. Their music just stirs something in one's soul.
The Moody Blues were the spiritual voice of my youth and continue to be that now in my 70’s. Was able to see them in concert back in the day and they blew me away. Amber, loved how you really got into the song. Thank you both for your reactions.
Jay... and when you stop and think about it, you won't believe it's true, that all the love you've been giving has all been meant for you! All the best to you and yours!
so grateful for this comment as it exactly what I want Jay to read and believe after his posting a few weeks back. god bless you for the comment and god bless Jay, Amber, and the kids.
This is the only song I ever played live on guitar to an audience. It was at Rookies in downtown Orlando. The regular singer was taking a break and let me have a pick at his guitar. I had just learned how to play this through so I started, there were only a dozen or so people actually in the bar. I didn't realized the mics were being pumped out into the street, halfway through there were more people in the bar and when I turned around there were about a hundred people standing outside looking in. When I finished, there was a huge applause. I was embarrassed but also energized. I've never played and sang in front of anyone else, I suffer terribly from stage fright. It's a beautiful song, I've seen the Moody Blues a half dozen times over the years and this song is always the one I liked best.
Not this song, but moody blues is one of the first songs I ever played live in a band myself. I hope you can work through your stage fright. It sounds like something you did must have connected with people. Honestly, it doesn't matter if you're amazing or skilled on guitar or the greatest singer. If you're connecting with people, you're doing something right.
Bassist John Lodge wrote that one. He comes in with a bouncy bass guitar riff after the drum solo intro goes from 0 to 150 beats per minute in the first 17 seconds. Hayward's lead guitar dances all around Pinder's oblique motion with a string ensemble tape loop on the mellotron keyboard in the instrumental break about two minutes into the song.
Jay my brother I used to listen to this in college when I was going through a depression. When I was questioning so many questions in life. They are called the Moody Blues because we all go through the moody blues.
I sit here with tears streaming down my cheeks. I first heard this song sometime in 1972, I was 9 years old and the family was in the midst of a very painful tragedy , one that at the time had me confused, sad and "full of questions". 52 years on it still chokes me up as it did then but at least today I can say [I think] I understand. Thank you for playing this one, I have been a Moody Blues fan ever since that first exposure and expect if I live another 52 years it will still affect me the same. Can't say that about too many bands. On a happier note, Luca is adorable, let him listen to all the music he wants, you never know when it will be important in his life too.
Amber was asking what genre ELO was, with all the instruments? This is where the sound of symphonic rock originates, with the Moody Blues. I should mention, prog rock is meant to be listened to as an entire album, which is why many songs will be somewhat out of context listened to individually.
These guys are my second favorite British group after the Beatles. Guitarist Denny Laine was a co-founder of the Moody Blues in 1964 and Paul McCartney & Wings in 1971.
I have the same 1-2 combo when it comes to bands. I saw the Moody's something like 7 times but unfortunately never the classic version with Mike Pinder.
Saw them live in Zilker Park in Austin Texas,Labor Day 1988.They gave a free concert, and I cannot describe the feeling singing this along with Justin and the thousands who new these words by heart
Most of Moody Blues albums tell a story question of balance Every Boy Deserves a favor to our children's children's children and of course the album threshold of a dream
Oh, the Moody Blues, one of my husband's favorite bands! Jordan, Amber so happy to see you guys back as a team! Together you guys are are an impressive force of kindness and love. I think we all wish for your health and happiness and hope it continues for as long as you live. Take care and don't let this world's destructive influence keep you from seeking the truth. Keep praying for answers.
Jay and Amber, so grateful to have you back. A QUESTION OF BALANCE is my favorite Moody Blues album. And this is at least tied for my favorite song by them. I wore out my vinyl copy of this back in 1971. Thank you for sharing your reaction to this. And I get why you have to stop in the middle to prevent copyright strikes. But the entire song is a sandwich. And makes more sense when listened to straight through. That’s the only downside to reaction channels on YT; music is meant to be heard as a whole.
The Moody Blues takes you on such amazing journeys! They make you do a lot of thinking 🤔 about life and it's meaning! Keep playing more and enjoy that journey! Thanks for the memories!!
Thanks for doing this song 'Question'. It's been 35-40 years probably since I last heard it. I'm sad that the next generation doesn't have the quality of singers, and bands that were around in the 60's into the 90s. Because I listened mostly to radio, other than a few LPs I bought, I missed hearing the titles of the songs, and didn't pay much attention to the lyrics. As you have been finding out we had a huge bunch of really great music back then. That's not even taking into account my favorite 4, Vangelis, Mke Oldfield, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Tangerine Dream. Hope you give them a listen, even if you don't do a reaction. Thanks again from Canada.
From the same album as Question is another of my favorite Moody Blues songs. The song is named Minstrel’s Song, and it has a very unique drum sound in it.
Some Moody Blues songs have intros or pieces that accompany them and they really need to be listened to together. I'd recommend Ride My Seesaw and Legend of a Mind. But they have a huge catalog and you will like all of the songs.
Their debut single, Go Now, went to number 1 in the UK and made it into the top 10 in the US. Marianne Faithfull, George Harrison and Paul McCartney attended the party when they launched their debut album.
@@willdwyer6782 Go Now was a song covered by the Moodies. It was actually by written by Larry Banks and Milton Bennett & first recorded by Bessie Banks in 1964. Without any success, Bessie’s backing singer was Cissy Houston, mother of Whitney.
I saw them here in Milwaukee with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra backing them up. It was outdoors and they released doves into the crowd. Man, the whole Symphony ROCKED this tune and the whole concert with the Moody Blues.
OMG that sounds awesome! I have few regrets in life, but one of them is passing on the opportunity to see them in Phoenix in the early 1990's because of work.
You are looking at a compilation album, the track actually comes from the album, A Question of Balance. Justin Hayward wrote the song which started off as a combination of two separate songs. It worked really well, and this was the fantastic result. A good choice today.
Sometimes I can't believe that I lived through this music.... This is another band that when they dropped an album I was at the record store. So many great songs they wrote it's unbelievable. Thanks for sharing that
I'd love to see your reaction to the Moody Blues song 'Talking Out of Turn'. I first heard it on an airplane to Australia many years ago...have to say that's the song that turned me into a Moody Blues fan!
@carlgemlich1657 : I had the pleasure of meeting Mike in the mid 90's. A consummate gentleman, he had been out of the music biz approximately 20-25 years. So I asked him, "Where have you been all this time?" He replied: "Raising a family", which was his antidote for being in the Moodies, especially the traveling portion. He is BTW, the piano soloist on "Go Now !", the Moodies first single from 1965.
I started listening to the Moody Blues in 1967. They had 4-5 albums at that time and they have produced many more since. It was rare if one of their songs got high up in popularity but so many of their songs are wonderful. There are some rock and roll songs, some nice melodies, and some that cannot be described, and those songs make it difficult to describe their style of music but I can say their music is great. I think they are my favorite group, there are others I really like but I can always listen to the Moodies.
They delivered so many great tunes. This was the opening track of their album "Question of Balance." Side two kicks off with another brilliant Hayward composition, "It's Up to You" -- well worth a listen! 😊
The journey of life are reflected in most of the Blues compositions. The song following this is How is it (We are Here) and so on and so forth. Magical concert band back in the day when they were fresh, hypnotic and created an atmosphere of tranquilly and introspection. When Mike left the band, it was never the same again for me. Glad you are back. Life is full of ups and downs and taking breaks is essential to "A Question of Balance." in life.
Welcome back ❤… with my all time Fav Song! Their poetry, masterful music orchestration, and intense vocals keep the moody blues as my all-time favorite band. And I agree…this song is progressive and has stood the test of time. I’m not sure if you’ve already done “Ride My See-Saw” or “Tuesday’s Afternoon” and “I’m Just a Singer” … classic Moody Blues
Having seen the Moody Blues 8x live, I can't express how impressive they are as a band, as creators, and as social commentators. Their music is truly a magical journey of the soul!
Hi Jay and Amber......So glad you are doing this song. It was UK no1 in 1970. Actually 2 songs put together by Justin Haywood. It's the first track from thier Album " A question of Balance" - If you have a chance to listen to the entire Albu - you must....It the Moodies at thier Prog Rock/ Phsycadellic best
The moody blues are genius one of the all time prog rock bands this is my favorite question well though out composition expertly crafted by these genius musician's
I love this band so much! ❤❤ Since grade school in the late 60s. I notice when you react to them there are many immediate comments. It said this was posted 1 hr prior & there were 219 comments already. This band soothes, excites and speaks to fans of all ages. I used to see folks of several generations at their concerts. Justin Hayward's voice is velvet audio love. Great choice tonight! I see lotsa good suggestions for your next MB listen and suggest one of these... ♡The Story in Your Eyes ♡Tuesday Afternoon ♡Never Comes the Day ♡Lovely To See You ♡Gypsy As always, thank you and be blessed ❤❤
Great reaction guys, thanks for doing another Moody's song. "Question" is the 1st song off their 1970 album, Question of Balance (Nights in White Satin was off Days of Future Passed in 1967). Question of Balance was the first album I ever heard of the Moody Blues in the early 70s. I fell in love with their melodious songs and amazing harmonies straight away. I went out the next payday and bought three of their other albums. After Pink Floyd, they are my next favourite band. I saw them live in 1985 when they toured Australia, all their band members were there, and then again, I saw them after the passing of Ray Thomas (flautist - RIP). Both times they sounded exactly the same as their studio recordings. Would love to see your reaction to 2 of their shorter songs (could be done in the one session) - The Story in Your Eyes, and Lovely to See You. Cheers from Australia, mate.
"That all the love you've been giving Has all been meant for you" - this lyric is on my brother's gravestone. He loved the Moody Blues and was the sweetest, most selfless human I have ever met. How lovely. Thank you for sharing this.

The Moody Blues were the most spiritually aware group ever. Their lyrics shows how insightful and how evolved they were.
This is my favorite Moody Blues song ❤❤ Very deep

Jordan and Amber - remember every day you wake up that you are a blessing to us, your listeners.
Hear! Hear! ♥
they do seem a little stressed, I hope everything is okay with them.
"I'm looking for someone to change my life, I'm looking for a miracle in my life". The Moody Blues were poets before they were a band.
This Song was on the Album “A Question of Balance”
Agree and that studio version was less muddy than this concert recording.
@@geoffreyrhine8210 that was the studio recording

" I'm Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band " and " Ride My Seesaw " aren't too bad either . Ha !
The song 'Question' actually comes from their album A Question of Balance from 1970. 'Nights In White Satin' comes from the album 'Days of the Future Passed' from 1967.
Exactly. The 1st and the 5th of what is known as their core 7 albums. I'm sure both songs are on that very best of album shown on the video.
They were written as two different songs that he could not finish...so he combined them to become a classic. Justin Hayward is a musical genius.
I never knew that. So cool!❤
That makes sense! Very cool, thanks for the insight!
Two songs just like the Beatles a Day in the Life...
@@thomastimlin1724 And the “Abbey Road” medley.
Justin Hayward has always had that silvery voice of his. Phenomenal voice he has.
Justin took over for their first guitarist Denny Laine when he left the band in 1966. Denny co-founded Wings in 1971.

The Moody Blues always reminds me of sitting around with friends smoking a little herb with the black light on
I saw them here in Milwaukee with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra backing them up.
"The Voice" should be your next Moody Blues song.
My favorite album is On the Threshold of a Dream but my favorite songs are Legend of a Mind and Are You Sitting Comfortably.
You are looking at a compilation album, the track actually comes from the album, A Question of Balance. Justin Hayward wrote the song which started off as a combination of two separate songs. It worked really well, and this was the fantastic result. A good choice today.
Nights in White Satin. Unbelievable song. Absolute masterpiece!
My All-time favorite group. Masters of Music and prose. Props to the person who suggested this song!
I'm a 69.5 year old & always loved the Moody Blues ! Y'alls family is AWESOME. They grow quickly don't they. LOL😂
My favorite band of all time that I had the pleasure of seeing in concert.❤❤❤
Sometimes I can't believe that I lived through this music.... This is another band that when they dropped an album I was at the record store. So many great songs they wrote it's unbelievable. Thanks for sharing that
I'd love to see your reaction to the Moody Blues song 'Talking Out of Turn'. I first heard it on an airplane to Australia many years ago...have to say that's the song that turned me into a Moody Blues fan!
Yes to the Blues, what a catalog they have 💖‼️
Mike Pinder, R.I.P., Mellotron Master.
@carlgemlich1657 : I had the pleasure of meeting Mike in the mid 90's.
A consummate gentleman, he had been out of the music biz approximately 20-25 years.
So I asked him, "Where have you been all this time?"
He replied: "Raising a family", which was his antidote for being in the Moodies, especially the traveling portion.
He is BTW, the piano soloist on "Go Now !", the Moodies first single from 1965.
I bought a Moody Blues album in the 80s. One of the few albums I had that I enjoyed every song on.
Out of this world?
I started listening to the Moody Blues in 1967. They had 4-5 albums at that time and they have produced many more since. It was rare if one of their songs got high up in popularity
but so many of their songs are wonderful. There are some rock and roll songs, some nice melodies, and some that cannot be described, and those songs make it difficult to describe their style of music but I can say their music is great. I think they are my favorite group, there are others I really like but I can always listen to the Moodies.
Glad to see Jay back!
Moody Blue's "The Story In Your Eyes" was my wedding song soooo long ago.
Great to see your little boy from the UK👍 The next Moody Blues track I recommend is Gypsy!
Another favorite is "Driftwood." Absolutely perfect.
I've been waiting for you to do this.
About bloody time. 😊 🇬🇧
They delivered so many great tunes. This was the opening track of their album "Question of Balance." Side two kicks off with another brilliant Hayward composition, "It's Up to You" -- well worth a listen! 😊
Remember laying in bed listening to this on the radio. One of my favorite MB songs, powerful and serene.
THEY AREN'T DANCE MUSIC. THEY AREN'T HARD ROCKERS, THEY'RE JUST THE MOODY BLUES!!❤
Exactly
Great stuff, really good one from the Moody Blues from 1970
I think Amber will just melt when she hears Forever Autumn.
Forever Autumn and Troubadour are my favourite Justin Hayward solo songs.
Moody Blues was the first big concert i ever went to back about 1969-70. I've been hooked om music ever since. Loved seeing "Nuka?."
?
One of the great strengths of The Moody Blues is that they had multiple songwriters contributing hit singles.
So glad to see my kids back
Having seen the Moody Blues 8x live, I can't express how impressive they are as a band, as creators, and as social commentators.
My favourite Moody Blues track, originally 2 different songs which were joined together
Question comes from the album “A Question Of Balance” from 1970
I haven't heard this song in years. What's incredible is that I still remembered the lyrics!

♡The Story in Your Eyes ♡Tuesday Afternoon
♡Never Comes the Day
♡Lovely To See You
♡Gypsy
As always, thank you and be blessed ❤❤
6:59 I think Amber was very happy to have the song pick up again... to cover up the kids in the next room. 🤣🤣
