so so glad they got Cody and Luke Combs on this album. two great talents with amazing voices. country music definitely has a future with dudes like that on the scene.
OH, THE MEMORIES THIS VERSION BRINGS UP... the tempo, the emotions in their voices, the old familiar lyrics... Ugh my heart! I grew up off of a dirt road in a small Texas town. I had an amazing, blessed childhood. We didn't have money but we had love and a roof over our heads. Both of my parents died before I graduated High School and within days my dog and two cats died 💔 I graduated from my small town, ran away to the beach, and now, 7 years later, I dream about the wonderful life I had every day and night. This song takes me back the good times I had growing up 💜
I remember back in middle school when this album was coming out. It seems like long ago, but it was only about 3 years. In that school, I played and sung 3 times for people. The first time, I played Only in America for my class. The next two times was for my class again and then for a talent show fundraiser. Both of those times, I played this version of Red Dirt Road. It was stuck in my head, so I memorized the acoustic riff, the electric guitar solo and the chords. So for both of those "gigs", I played it all. The only downside was that my nervousness got me every time, but it happens to the best of us. It wasn't the best thing you've ever heard, but it's something to remember. Thanks for the memories and a beautiful song, B&D and Cody. God bless
It’s called a reboot for a reason! The song is not going to sound the same. So for all of you hating on the song clearly don’t see the talent behind it. I for once love this song. The original and the reboot. The original is fun and upbeat which makes it a hit an ORIGINAL! but the reboot is slower but it takes you back with the soft harmonies and clearly that was the intent! Great song, great artist feature. This song is amazing.
It's actually the way it was written. I saw Kix live and he played it acoustically in that style. It made the hair on my neck stand up it was so good. I'd never heard Kix sing Red Dirt Road before that. Apparently Ronnie wrote the hook and passed it to Kix who wrote the verses. Still one of the finest pieces of songwriting around.
This really just hit me hard. I grew up listening to Brooks and Dunn and this takes me back to riding around with my dad in his old truck as a kid. Man we might have been poor as dirt then but I would go back in heartbeat. This new take really just gives it such a sentimental character. Still not the original but man it sure does make me miss the old days. Love it!!!!
Man this song brings back so many memories. Use to cruise backroads in my old f1 with friends/girlfriends and talk about growing old. Now all I want to do is go back.
Right!!!!!! Total win and hopefully bringing back good country!! Neon Moon with Kacey musgraves is amazing too! They played it on the Radio!!! On the RADIO!! I only hear neon moon on the classic country stations, so its awesome to hear my favorites getting a reboot!!! One with Luke Combs is great too!!! Im now on a streak to listen to them Alllll.
I know this album is supposed to be about the modern day artists that are featured on this reboot recordings but I still get memorized by Ronnie's vocals, even decades after the originals
Bostonian here. Was never a fan of old school country growing up; was never played where I lived. Until I met my Georgia Peach, that all started to change. I listened to both versions: while the original is more upbeat and lively, this one has similar vibes to soft Spanish rock and acoustic rhythms I heard growing up. Brought a tear to my eye on the third repeat; each repeat increasing the volume. Feels good to have a reminder of God, both in English and Spanish. Love you Lyn.
Damn gentlemen! Doesn't get any better...still rock Brooks @ Dunn loud and proud..cody Johnson and luke combs...they best in western music in the last 10 years hands down...keep on keep in on yall!
Doug Covert you must only listen to the radio? I’m aware of how talented they are, I know they sell a lot of records and they are very good. Given. It is my opinion that some of the best country/western music has not and will never make it on the radio due to politics and the Nashville machine. Do you understand now?
Cody use to ride bulls with my bestfriends brother. That boy started off on a tailgate in rodeo parking lots. He been making an selling his own albums since like 2006. Even became the first unsigned independent artist to sell out NRG stadium at Rodeo Houston. He only got invited there because Old Dominion had a family emergency an he was a quick fill in. Ended up selling more tickets than OD orginally sold. He has been asked to come back 3 times now an has sold it out every single time. But yes i Agree, Cody and Luke Combs are the best out there on todays radio in my opinion.
I love this song, and this version is fantastic. Cody's voice is pure country, and the arrangement is great. That said, I need to have a guitar nearby so I can play that one unresolved note at the end. It makes me crazy that they left it that way, and I'm sure Dann Huff is out there laughing at me somewhere.
I think this songs sounds much better with the upbeat tempo, the original is a great song to sing in the car with friends. I never would've imagined it as a slower song
Destiny Lawrance It makes perfect sense and I agree with you. This song for me hits deeper being slowed down like this. I actually like it better than the original.
Destiny Lawrance Something about it being slowed down that makes me feel the lyrics more in this one compared to the original. This one paints a better picture for me than the original does.

I love this version. It gives off this nostalgic feeling. The original is pretty good but this one is just nicer sounding to me.
Its much more emotional feeling than the original and with brooksndun and their talent plus cody Johnsons singing ability makes it sound great
This is the proper version, honestly it should be the only version. Like seriously this is a special song with special lyrics.
Cody Johnson is gonna be one of the greats ... Mark my words ..... Cojo nation baby💯💯
Christian Resendez that’s right!
so so glad they got Cody and Luke Combs on this album. two great talents with amazing voices. country music definitely has a future with dudes like that on the scene.
Cody johnson has been one of my favorites, along with matt mason. Not sure why they havent blown up yet
Cody Johnson sold out Reliant Stadium and is one of the highest selling artist. He’s arrived he just stays off of the radio
You got a relative named Ryan?
I like this version. Slowing it down sounds like a story telling your grandfather would give you.

This version feels much more introspective and reflective. It's as if Brooks and Dunn is looking back at their past and reminiscing about it.
@@abelcheng2073 I agree
Bro. This song is fire with Cody Johnson. I’m a true brooks and Dunn fan. I love the remake. As much as I love the old classic
This really just hit me hard. I grew up listening to Brooks and Dunn and this takes me back to riding around with my dad in his old truck as a kid. Man we might have been poor as dirt then but I would go back in heartbeat. This new take really just gives it such a sentimental character. Grew up listening to Brooks and Dunn with my parents. Life was simpler and alot more enjoyable then. Brooks and Dunn will never go out of style.

OMG!!! Actual country music 🎶
I love that swampy sounding guitar throughout the song!
This whole album is knocking me off my feet 🤯

I started listening to Cody Johnson recently and Red Dirt Road was always one of my favorite songs let’s at least say I’m pleased this exists
Southern country singers are damn good at making America loving patriotic songs
You can tell that people are talented when they sound even better live and this was so good live
So far, this is definitely my favorite off the whole album. Cody Johnson is gonna be a star.
right on,,
love the guy old hillbilly voice
Gonna be? He’s been a star in the great state of Texas for a while.
Ryan Morgan well I meant on a more national/worldwide level. There’s lots of folks that are pretty big in Texas but not in a mainstream way.
This comment really aged well it has been found by many in the last few months

this is such a good song cody johnson is such a good country singer
A beautiful rendition of a timeless classic; brings back memories of my childhood

I can as well. It's gold!
Been waiting to hear this one with cojo!!!!
Usually I hate the covers of songs but I loved this. Great harmony and I got chills listening to this
Can you consider this a cover? It’s by the original artist just featuring someone new. That’s a weird gray area.
@@spencersonnier1 I dont know honestly.
One of the greatest songs ever written.

Ronnie Dunn will always sound awesome
Absolute favorite off of the reboot album. Just the sound of codys voice and the way it works with brroks and dunn😍 absolutely amazing
This is awesome! The original is still one of my favorites and it reminds me of growin up on an old red dirt road off the beaten path in a small town!

Hello beautiful lady
I was raised off of Rural Route 3
Out past where the blacktop ends
We'd walk to church on Sunday morning
Race barefoot back to Johnson's fence
That's where I first saw Mary
On that roadside picking blackberries
That summer I turned a corner in my soul
Down that red dirt road
It's where I drank my first beer
It's where I found Jesus
Where I wrecked my first car,
I tore it all to pieces
I learned the path to heaven
Is full of sinners and believers
Learned that happiness on earth
Ain't just for high achievers
I've learned,
I've come to know
There's life at both ends
Of that red dirt road
Her daddy didn't like me much
In my shackled up GTO
I'd sneak out in the middle of the night
Throw rocks at her bedroom window
We'd turn out the headlights
Drive by the moonlight
Talk about what the future might hold
Down that red dirt road
It's where I drank my first beer
It's where I found Jesus
Where I wrecked my first car,
I tore it all to pieces
I learned the path to heaven
Is full of sinners and believers
Learned that happiness on earth
Ain't just for high achievers
I've learned,
I've come to know
There's life at both ends
Of that red dirt road
I went out into the world
And I came back in
I lost Mary,
Oh I got her back again
And driving home tonight,
Feels like I've found a long lost friend
It's where I drank my first beer
It's where I found Jesus
Where I wrecked my first car,
I tore it all to pieces
I learned the path to heaven
Is full of sinners and believers
Learned that happiness on earth
Ain't just for high achievers
I've learned,
I've come to know
There's life at both ends
Of that red dirt road
Love it!! ❤️🍻

its good don't get me wrong but the original is still golden

Drive by the moonlight
Conducir a la luz de la luna
Talk about what the future might hold
Charlar sobre lo que depararía el futuro
Down a red dirt road
