This is how you make a iconic song sound cool in today's music world, Of course it will never EVER top the original. But as a person who loved Golden Hour, its fantastic to see Kacey apply the soundscape of that album to make this iconic classic song go from a Country music slow dancing jam and putting to a sound where i can make my own creative dance.

I don't know about anyone else but this new rendition sounds almost like an electronic song! This started playing in my recommended on Spotify, and for a second I thought this was a cover/rework by completely new artists. Absolutely love this!
So this is the only song on the album where B&D let the guest singer do the entire song, while they just provide backup. Says a lot about their opinion of Kacey.
well when she steps up and crushes it like this... how can any deny the purity of this sound.
She and her team came in with this version basically and floored B&D and they had to do very very little to make it album ready… the rest of the songs they’re heavily involved in the producing - this song was so good they didn’t have to do hardly anything to it when it was presented to them.

Her voice is so clear and pretty it’s insane. I know they are legends and you can’t do better then the original but she did a damn good job.
For people who say they don't like the beat but like the vocals, what you need to understand this is Kacey Musgraves she did a beautiful cover to a legendary song with her kind of tune. This is what her music sounds like and i absolutely love her and the best she brought to this song. The original is classic and amazing and this version is retro and beautiful. Love Love Love ❤️

I remember listening to the original with my grandparents when I was little.
Now to hear it by one of my favorite singers makes me smile so much. Kacey totally breathes new light into this. I can't stop listening and crying lol
I love the original, but this cover is special. The original you get the sense that while they have some tough times, the singer is actually healing with the help of the neon, and “I’ll be alright” feels believable.
But something about Kacey’s voice makes you feel like she’s not ok. She almost sounds haunted. When she says “I’ll be alright” it sounds more like she’s trying to convince herself of that, even though she knows it’s not true.
Couldn't believe my ears when they broke out this cover a few years ago when I went to see her live. They killed this song, and their whole set. Kacey is the best

I've got no prejudice against any style of music (I'll listen to anything if I like it and have favorites in just about every genre); but I don't 'regularly' listen to Country music. That said, an Uber driver was playing the country station and this came on and really grabbed my attention. What a fantastic song :)

I've always been a B&D fan. I loved this song when it came out. I haven't heard it much over the past few years. Kasey singing a reboot version has brought new life to a classic, and introduced it to a new generation.

Kacey did an amazing job on this! She took a just decent song and made it absolutely breathtaking. This is one of the few covers of any song that I think improves greatly on the original. This version has so much more dimension and emotion to it.

No insult to a classic country song, but the original just doesn't sound sad at all. The lyrics convey the sadness of the bar and having lost someone, and Kacey's version sounds like that. The original sounds too chipper and happy. Great song and great update
