I liked the version a lot. I think that chorus works better with a female vocal than is “singing”. It wasn’t mixed.

Definitely still was a demo. And duh it’s his choice but it’s more of the record labels choice. Ion think it was really his because even he stated he liked it and they even tried to collab AGAIN which his label didn’t end up using with party nauseous. Still wish it was in the final version tho 😔
@@latinoprophet I completely disagree. Lady Gaga's vocals dont match Kendrick's more raw experimental tone. Kendrick wants to stay true to hip hop at the end of the day. Her vocals are very cringe inducing. It sounds like a cheesy, microwave pop record, and it completely destroyed the vibe and ambience if the song. Her voice isn't conducive to an extremely lyrical hip hop and raw song that's true to the culture. I'm fine with them collabing, but if they Collab it's likely going to be a watered down, pop song. And Kendrick will have to water down his verses to fit a more mainstream audience like he did with Taylor swift, unfortunately.
I definitely preferred Lady Gaga version as well.

Would of been a good look for Kendrick but it was too early in his career and would of threw off the ones who weren’t aware of his talent yet. A very similar thing happened with 2pac when Madonna had him on the original version of “I’d Rather Be Your Lover” a lot of people didn’t know he was on it, but she ended up not using it. This was back in late 94 before Me Against the World, which most people say is Pacs best album, so Pac working with Madonna probably would of hurt in the long run.
