    The best vegan ramen is from T's Tan Tan in Tokyo station! Seriously, it was so good, that's all I ate when I visited Japan 😭

    • @eatyourkimchi
      @eatyourkimchi  7 років тому +50

      I know that place! It's actually a chain (I'm pretty sure)...

    • @larad1531
      @larad1531 7 років тому +11

      Was it one of the ones... that didn't make the cut?
      I ate there Friday and was quite delighted! Also some CoCo Ichiban places do full vegetarian curry! So you could pretend like that's a good reason for another video and dinner session!
      (I thoroughly enjoyed that too!... the curry. I mean, the video too... Case in Point, hooray veg. stuff!)

      @ciramelle 7 років тому +6

      Yes guys, test this one, it's amazing!
      Not sure about the chain. I think there's another one from the same owner (T's restaurant), but I though T's TanTan was the only restaurant of this kind.

    AHHH thank you!!! Not only do I get to wake up and start my day with a fresh Simon & Martina video but I also get to get some insight into some delicious vegan noms from Tokyo?! Thank you SO much - also thank you to all the people in the comments sharing more vegan places! There are dozens and dozens of places to pick from on Happy Cow but when we go to Tokyo for work we're really pressed for time - I'm going to take so many notes!
    One of the most stressful things about traveling abroad as a vegan is finding good food and not feeling a tiny bit bitter if you feel like you're missing out on the experience of being out in the world adventuring because it seems all the good vegan food doesn't exist or is hiding - getting little glimpses of good vegan food made from someone who is passionate about their work like this? Its SO encouraging, thank you!

    I am not vegan myself, but I have worked in a vegan restaurant so I love it when you guys showcase other vegan/vegetarian places around the world. It also makes me so happy inside to see how polite and caring you are to the people who own and work at these restaurants, because let me tell you! Sooooo many of the customers I would have there were rude, entitled, 'holier than thou' and would treat my coworkers and myself like shit. You guys are always so loving and gives me the fuzzies inside.
    I also had no idea about the oriental vegetarian diet and not eating the five pungent roots. I have literally never heard of that until now and I find that fascinating. Thank you both for teaching me something new today! Love you Simon and Martina! Thank you for always inspiring me to keep building my ladder!

    Thank you guys for this video.
    Today I had one of the worst knee pain days I've had since I was injured a year ago.
    My partner kindly lent me his arm to use as a cane of sorts because I could barely move a couple steps without falling over. I was crying on the bus on the way home because I finally reached the point where I realised this disability is my new reality and it hit me that, how can I ever accomplish my life dream of travelling the world if I can't even make it up the stairs of my own house?
    Seeing you two push through so much together and not letting the reality of your situation be what stops you from accomplishing your dreams, it really helps me push forward. I love you Simon and Martina, you two are one of the biggest reasons I can wear my hot pink decorated knee brace and still smile about it most days.
    I'm also a relatively new vegan.
    This video was perfect. Thank you again ♡ You're really helping me keep my dreams alive.

    Yummm! I've been waiting for the vegan Ramen video! So glad you finally found one that made the cut. My favorite vegan restaurant is in Winter Park, Florida and it's called Vegan Café. They have the BEST menu filled with yumminess from Summer special Bean Burritos to Hawaiian Pizza. Sooo good!!

    Would you ever do a video telling your worst food experiences? You don't have to say the name of the places if you don't want to, I'd just find it interesting to hear you guys talk negatively once haha

    Martina I beg you to try out one month of a vegan diet! I convinced my father into doing it because of his major hip and joint problems. Within weeks he started to feel a difference and doesn't has to take medication anymore. Meat and dairy cause inflammation, especially on your joints. I'll hope you'll try it!

      Ah, I know. It's sad to see her when she's in pain. But I'm happy - we're happy - that she has a cane that can help her on the days she needs them, so she can keep on having adventures and building her ladder :D

      I always have that pang of sadness when I see Martina with a cane or in a sling or even just having her wrist or knee in a brace, but then I see how she is still out doing things she loves to do. It reminds useven though she deals with pain ever day, that she goes out there and lives life and has fun. Build a Ladder!!!

      This actually makes me feel hopeful . She is in pain no matter what she does . But she chooses to be out there and explore . Seeing her like that gives me courage to ignore my pain and try to go outside too...

    Martina and Simon were part of my inspiration to finally take the leap and movie overseas (hey from China!). This summer on my way home to visit family I went to Japan for a week and went here because I wanted to go to a place they'd been but I'm a longtime vegan. It was pretty good AND even tinier than you are imagining. And hotter. Thanks for the recommendation guys!

    You guys should do the places you don't like as well. I've been wondering why every place you visit in Japan has been super-positive. I still remember that Korea pizza vid where it was trying out all the weird toppings. That was a good video.

      +Nimet Tree in Japan, we rarely ever eat at a bad place. But most of the times we did were in our search for vegan food. That’s just our experience, though.

    I am so thankful you guys tried/enjoyed/supported a vegan restaurant! :D Not only are they kinda rare (depending on where you live), but also typically looked down upon.
    To be honest, I am mostly vegetarian (will eat eggs and occasionally fish), and I also try really hard not to be aggressive about my personal dietary habits to others. When I hear people's shock in how flavourful a vegetarian/vegan meal can be, I kind of want to point out that most ingredients/spices/additional flavours are not meat. At the same time, I also want to tell myself to keep that to myself and just enjoy that someone is enjoying something different. Sorry for having fleeting negative thoughts, and thanks again! :D

    I would actually like to see videos where you don't like the food also. 1. It would be interesting to see if some weird local dish that you don't like.
    2. Makes me value the videos where you like the food a lot more. If all I hear is that everything is delicious I won't believe you as much + it will give a false image about Japanese food culture

    We have a ramen place on Oahu called Agu Ramen that has two vegan ramen that was created with a chef from a vegan restaurant here called Vegan Hills. It's AMAZING. I haven't had ramen in TWO YEARS since being vegan and I was thrilled when my friend told me about it. This looks good!
