I genuinely felt offended watching this, even more than when watching Jamie Olive Oil. It was that attitude of "Asian cooking is so easy, you can just throw whatever crap you want in it and voila, you made an Asian dish." It would be like if I said, "Fish and chips are so easy to make, but you don't have to use fish, you can even use beef. And you don't have to fry your potatoes, you can just steam them." or "Scones are super easy, you don't even need to use flour, just use whatever crap you have around the house, even tofu will work."
So Wong.
You took the words right out of my mouth. Great examples too. The British have that annoying attitude of anglicising stuff from other cultures.

As an Irish man I truly apologise for this horror, to make it worse, I'm a chef aswell and she has embarrassed the hell out of us.
please tell me it's not common practice to oil your meat like that in Ireland. Like I can forgive her for making a shitty pho but who does that to the meat before you sear it? Surely the oil goes into the pan and the meat goes in dry with only seasoning on it right? Like oiling the meat isn't a thing in Ireland is it?
IRA is the second worst thing to come out of Ireland
This is kinda off topic but what are common dishes in Ireland?
To her defense doe: Uncle Roger made a mistake at the beginning of the video. She clearly said "foe" instead of "pho", clearly meaning she´d rather trash it than eat it.

As a fellow Vietnamese who's parents used to own a pho shop, this kills me
"You can use any kind of noodles you want." 😭😭 In Vietnam it's called "pho" because that's the name of the actual noodle, like GIRLLL

They're treating Pho like it's fried rice (where you do have a lot more degrees if freedom), but even with fried rice, there are rules. I can't put rice in the oven, nor can I add buffalo wing sauce or ketchup or I don't know, fucking Dijon mustard. There's a certain WAY to make these things, certain things you can use, not use, and so on. This "anything goes" mentality is really really dumb. I don't doubt that Pho is different depending on who's mama is making it, but they just just say "It's a free for all!!!! Use whatever you'd like!!!!"

Did you see how thick those slices of steak were? You know that was tough as hell. The hosts didn't look they were actually eating it.
@@ericschwartz7809 It's so far from Pho it's crazy. Sometimes people break rules in cooking and it still tastes good but this one looks awful.
My whole Vietnamese family was so annoyed with the way she cooked and called it Pho. Yes, it is such a disgrace.
Harsh, what the hell is that.
I'm Vietnamese and this video is so disgusting to watch.
They made Pho but nothing like the original Pho at all. Frying Beef, Putting Honey into the soup, what the hell is that.
I'm done with these videos made by white people but they know nothing about asian foods.
@Nugget Rimuru coi mà cọc luôn á 🙂
ok.. im a white/Cherokee American... and PRECOOKING THE MEAT IN PHO IS MAKING ME CRY TOO!
i like how at 9:40 the soul leaves uncle Rogers body
As a Vietnamese, I guess my ancestors are crying after watching this lady cook Pho. I loved how people widely spread our customs and cuisines all over the world, but this is offensive. Please if you don’t understand one’s culture, go study and do research, don’t do it your way and called it in the name of that country’s food.
Same also have the same last name
Your ancestors only crying? Mine is ready to be reincarnated again, just to die from depression after seeing this video, again
@@justaname9544 my grandma’s family will re-incarnate only to die of despair just like how wanna die while watching this woman ruin my favorite dish and my heritage
Im crying too. My ancestors feel bad.
Sad
The confidence in these cooks while doing the least amount of possible research always baffles me.
even I who don't have cooking experience can cook better than that
and it surprises me the fact that she is on the show
I make one of the best traditional Vietnamese Steak Phở. Take some chicken breast and give it a nice roast. While it’s roasting, make your broth. Add salt, pepper, and garlic to chicken broth. Then add milk and let it simmer. Add parmesan cheese and heavy cream till it thickens to a nice creamy phở broth. Typically it calls for rice noodles, but you can use any noodle, so I like a nice fettuccini noodle. Mix until well coated. Slice the roasted chicken and add to noodles and broth.
This is like watching a 10 min video of a man breaking down slowly by each minute
Takes 10 mins to make the Pho because the broth was probably just a couple stock cubes
Upload making of Pho on MorePatterrz please
PATTERRZ? YOU WATCH UNCLE ROGER? FUIYOHHHH

Finally it's here YES
Huh, fancy seeing you here. I knew you were of culture. I like your videos!
knorr
The amount of sadness seen on his face is just immeasurable.
Lmao true
Can you blame him. I’m 3 minutes in and I’m sad.
The disappointment is immeasurable
And his day is ruined
I’m one Vietnamese alright, I cried 12034 times.
Anything that says superfood in front I know is gonna be an absolute disaster
As a Vietnamese, i am litterally crying my heart out.... they can call it 'anything' they want, beef noodle, beef rice noodle... Why do you have to call it "Phở". I take this personally, okay, this is humiliating our culture. The recipe is wrong on so many levels. OMG, can't wait for the video of Uncle Roger making Phở. People, PLEASEEEE subscribe!!!!!!!!!
11:40
TV cook lady : You want this on a Monday.
Uncle Roger: No!, I don't want this on any day.
Me: even I'm in jail and this is my last meal, I still don't want it. I will rather be a starving ghost, thank you :)
The warden wouldn't let you die on a empty stomach. It causes cramps during the process which isn't the humane way to die.
should we take some "phóng lợn" and destroy that thing call "broth" ?
Seriously! It's like saying "When making apple pie, if you don't have apples its fine, you can use any fruit for your apple pie." Okay...
As you say call it a British quick meal based on pho. Not pho. At least then it admits where the idea came from but also screams don’t expect to be like the real thing.
Then. And only then. Can you make with any old noodle, whatever green leaf thing you found, and if you just threw an oxo cube in some water as your broth. Fine. There’s no pho experience expected
So actual cultural appropriation?
