- We've had some great Korean pizza in the past, but today we're gonna try the weirdest pizzas we could find. And the results were...unsettling. What kind of stuff can they put in a pizza? You'll find out in this week's Food Adventure Program For Awesome People!

Hell...I live in Texas and it costs like $12 for a large cheese. Unless you go with a whacked out combo deal that they have.

I live in NZ and just letting you know that it's $5 for like....cheese pizza and pepperoni...chicken pizzas and seafood pizzas are like...$12-$15, still better than those $30 pizzas but still...not that cheap :/

Same here for the "American" pizza places.
"Japanese" pizza is a little cheaper, but the crust has the same thickness and rigidity of a crepe so it's fun times trying to eat those.

SilverflameYoshi83 In the US there are many morbidly obese who got that way through compulsive eating of cheap pizza. I am around Koreans alot in the US and they do not get fat. Maybe Koreans in Korea do not eat large amounts and weigh hundreds of pounds.

The base on which pizza is made is actually flatness from the Middle East. I went into a bakery in Kandahar with another person and $0.25 in Afghanies. We left with so much flat bread that both of us had our arms full.
My culinary standards are very low....these look delicious except for the price of course.

The majority of Korean food is great, but when it comes to pizza you should always go for the normal standard pizza. The "fancy" ones are really awful. Pizza is not, how can i say this, "native" to Korea and we just don't know how to make great pizza.

hopefully no one sees this and thinks pizza hut/mr pizza represents the pizza scene in korea. there is PLENTY of smaller chains/restaurants that have american-style pizzas, with all the standard topping options. they are also reasonably priced in comparison to these places, which is clearly charging for the amount of stuff (different crusts, toppings, etc). korea has good pizza!!! don't be afraid!!!
p.s. totally feel you on the "regular" pizza thing. korean large is like the standard medium in american. there was a place i ordered from that had like, extra large and that was like 12 slices in a circle. it was comically large

iAmSVD pizza can be a LOT cheaper in korea. I guess they chose expensive ones because they come in more varieties.
Same story in Japan with expensive pizzas, except that is probably Japan's "large" size, for the same $35 worth.
It's expensive because it's Pizza Hut and Mr. Pizza.... There's lots of other restaurants which are much cheaper. Also restaurants like McD, BurgerKing or Lotteria are quite cheap I'd say.
Here in Brazil pizza restaurants use to have something like 30 flavors in their menu. The pizzas are really big and have a lot of filling. They cost around 10 dollars.
My favorite flavor is "Portuguese pizza" Which is filled with mozzarella, ham, baked eggs, onion slices, corn, peas and olives.
Have someone ever tried sweet pizza? I think they are disgusting.

This reminds me of one time when I was 14 years old in Juvy; we were all 'good' that week so the staff told us we were going to get to make our own pizzas and have a competition on who made the best. My friend and I were on a team and I blanketed the pizza in cinnamon. They actually put the thing in a 500 F degree oven for 15 minutes and couldn't explain the putrid odor or the smoke alarms going off. It was a good day.
Lol, I know that in Japan, at least, pizza is considered a snack, or rather, never "dinner", so maybe that's why they're so small.

While my husband was stationed in Korea (US Army), we had the pleasure of eating Pizza Hut there. It was 40 USD total. We just got a normal pepperoni pizza. It was hands down THEE best pizza we have ever had. I would travel back to Korea for many reasons, that pizza being one of them. Oh the dreams I will have tonight... Our first pizza there was so shocking though, the green stuff (I cannot remember what it was called) literally shocked me.
So I came here from your Kobe Beef video, thinking "God I wish I was you". . . now I understand, you guys deserve all the nice things for your sacrifices in the name of entertainment.

이렇게나 피자헛의 치즈오페라와 미스터피자의 크림치즈 모카번이 입맛에 맞지 않으실 줄 몰랐어요.. 한국인으로서 저와 제 주위 사람들은 정말 맛있게 먹었거든요 ㅠㅠ 둘 다 단 맛이 강한데, 치즈의 맛이 있어서 부드럽지 않았나요? 특히 견과류는 맛의 정점이라고 생각했는데..
사이먼와 마티나 여러분께 질문을 드리자면, 빵은 빵이고 피자는 피자답게 나오는게 보통 외국 음식점의 컨셉인가요? 한국에서는 피자빵을 베이커리에서도 팔고, 피자가게에서도 영상에서 언급하신 실험적인 피자가 나오는 걸 보면, 외국과 한국의 음식에 대한 인식이 조금 다르다는 생각이 들었습니다.
그리고 피자의 가격은.. 솔직히 한국인들도 비싸다고 여깁니다. 그래서 이마트나 코스트코, 홈플러스에서 파는 저렴하면서 양이 많은 피자가 요즘 인기가 많은 편이잖아요 :) 한국에서 피자헛, 미스터피자, 파파존스피자같은 대형 브랜드 피자 구매시에 통신사 할인받지 않으시면 정말 손해입니다! 애초에 그들이 할인가를 생각하고 피자 가격을 설정한 것 같기도 하네요. 도미노피자도 35000원짜리 피자를 skt vip 30%할인받어 구매하면, 23500원에도 먹을 수 있으니.. 아니면 동네에 많은 스쿨피자, 59피자는 저렴한데 이런 곳의 피자도 한 번 다뤄주시면 좋겠어요!

Oh my god, they tried to make the bellybutton thing crust a fad here in Portugal but the cheese was all strange and goopy, it was really wierd! I think it wasn't very successful 'cus I stopped seeing it in the Pizza Hut ads xD.
Also, you guys are amazing, it's 3 am, I have to go work in about 5 hours, yet the positive energy from your vídeos and just seeing you come up with these fun ways to showcase a country with such a different (and sometimes cool, sometimes strange) culture makes me stay up just so I can learn more about Korea, your experiences or simply geek along or have a good teary eyed laugh, which is something I rarely have the pleasure to enjoy nowadays.
PS: I hope the pizza shenanigans didn't upset Martina's stomach in the end of the day, after the tramadol+meloxicam debacle D:. You could always coax Leigh and Soo Zee to do their own share of wierd pizza tasting next time

It's actually almost hard for me to believe that pizza can be that bad. I am kinda picky about pizza though and Pizza Hut isn't my favorite (I'm a person who tends to like smaller shops). My family brought me home a slice of pizza from Pizza Hut the other day and even though I didn't think it was the greatest it was still quite edible (I live in the Southwest USA BTW... New Mexico to be precise).
Who knows what my reaction to those pizzas would be. I'd probably certainly think they aren't worth the price. :)

+Jörg Roth As a Korean American, I can tell you without bias that comparing Korean pizza to American pizza (in particular Chicago deep dish) is akin to comparing a traveling circus to edible food.
This is of course my (well-formed) opinion.
However, American fried chicken is straight garbage compared to the Korean variety. Also my opinion though (and one I am considerably less willing to defend than my opinion on pizza).
fun fact, there's a restaurant in Sincheon that serves "chicago deep dish pizza." I wouldn't consider it a replica or even similar to the concept of the real thing, and that's not an opinion.

I'm European and I was several times eating pizza in Italy, so my opinion about pizza is different. I don't care about Korean pizza, but I just don't like American pizza.

I used to make myself 'pizza' from toast, ketchup and a cheese slice too. But it didn't and still doesn't taste bad to me. Maybe because of the huge amounts of dried oregano I put on it as well, or because the ketchup was curry-ketchup.

Pizza is pizza doesn't matter what topping. I personally know the founder of the Kebab Pizza in Sweden since he's a friend of the family and I can say for sure he makes the best Pizza I have ever eaten in my life and I've tried pizza in 16 different countries.
In the philippines, regular pizza in pizzahut is a 9-inch pizza. It's small. Really small.

I like the way the pizzas look. Especially the Star pizza, great presentation. I would like to try many different Korean pizzas just to taste the flavours and see which ones I liked.
I tend to like most western pizzas because they are all savoury, all the flavours complement each other very well.

I have a feeling I would feel the same way about these pizzas as I did when I first tastes that sweet and salty popcorn. Many swear by it, but it was so absolutely revolting that whenever I feel nauseated and I think about it, I legitimately throw up. I just could not understand why anyone would mix caramel popcorn and salty popcorn and then shake it up and tell you to eat it. It disrupted the flavor so much and made me so nauseous. Why America, WHY? Separate, amazing, Together, horrific experience.

You guys are brave. I'm not adventurous at all, especially when it comes to my pizza. It took my husband years to get me to try Hawaiian (which I _love_ now). I'll stick with what I know! 😛🍕
It's actually pretty funny because there is an English Pizza Hut website you can use to order delivery in Korea and none of those options are on there...lol
that's so sad... the star pizza looks so pretty and artsy. they need to make it with tasty ingredients instead (duh lol). really should be like, nice pastry slices instead of "pizza" slices.
