- Blind since birth, the 24-year-old was a joint gold medal winner at the 2009 Van Cliburn Competition. This past July he debuted at the BBC Proms, giving a well-received performance with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. He made his New York recital debut in Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium in 2011, and is set to return for a performance of the Beethoven "Emperor" concerto with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra on January 25.
But first, he stopped by The Greene Space for an evening of conversation and music, playing works by Chopin, Liszt and his own compositions.
This is the real genius ,is a God gift ,incredible talented pianist ,I don't have enough words for his amazing talent ,musicality,technique etc..
I wish to see him in a live concert ,once in my life time ! Wish him the best in life and more concerts and prizes ,he deserve it !
This interpretation is clear and so pleasantly spiritual. It has been the very best, even compared with other top pianists’ like that of Yundi, Lang Lang, etc. His is crystal clear, not compromised with any artificial craftiness, but probably best represents Chopin’s original spirit. 他のピアニスト達では、このような喜びが全く起きません。多分、世界的なピアニスト達と比べても、この辻井さんの解釈が元のショパンのスピリットに最も忠実なのではないでしょうか?

One can always argue whether a particular interpretation is to ones liking or not (I happen to find this one very beautiful), but I do not think one can argue the accomplishment of Tsujii as one hell of a pianist!

holy s***. i've tried many times to play chopin with my eyes closed, and im all over the place. utmost respect for being able to play without seeing, and even more respect for the brilliant interpretation. maybe my new favorite pianist

He sounds as thought there were three people inside of him, sitting side by side, united by one mind. What is so striking about it is the fact that it seems to defy the laws of physics (how sound waves form etc.). I didn't think piano playing could do that.

He's just playing the piano well. There aren't three people inside him united with one mind, and nothing in the performance seems to defy the laws of physics, including how sound waves form. You're right that piano playing can't do that. Purple prose doesn't get us there, either.

最近ファンになりました。透明で純な音が大好きで毎日聞いています。でもこのパフォーマンスに関してはキーシンやランランの方が一枚上手です。気の毒なのは視覚障害者なのにこんなに弾けるのはすごいという評価がつきまとうことです。クライバーン優勝から１０年以上経ち視覚障害者というのは周知されたのだからこれからはガチの勝負です。お父様がおっしゃるように盲目のピアニストと言われるうちは一流ではない、「盲目の」が取れるよう是非頑張ってほしいです。

つい最近聞いた彼のショパンは素晴らしい解釈と降り注ぐような光の粒のような音色でした。
画面上の音よりも数倍美しいです。
彼は素晴らしかったです。
このピアノは高音部が玩具のような音がする。辻井さんにふさわしくない。
Consider tuning your piano a bit more often fellas.
İ really liked the high notes in that way. Which is, as you mean some of the courses are a bit out of tune in that area.
I wonder if he occasionally messes up some octave passages on purpose to prove hes blind

Sorry this is the first time I came across this pianist and I am a hardcore skeptic in all manners of observation, so the astonishment of his playing led me to make the comment I did. The fact he is perfectly blind and can so perfectly find finger placement and play like that is beyond remarkable.
My mother always tells me that some disable people are extraordinarily developed in other things. Nobuyuki is blind and has other problem (he's autistic), but he plays perfectly the piano! My mother tells me that in Milan (Italian city) there was a person considered by many stupid. He clearly had some problems, but his brain was extremely developed in learning languages. He spent his days in the Chinatown of the city, and in one night he started to talk and understand the Chinese dialect (not Mandarin).
I wonder if you could play like this blindfolded?

I don't particularly like his interpretation, but I can't possibly down vote a blind pianist.
many of my teachers think his performances are the best regardless of him being blind. say interpretation for rach 2 is amazing.
