- This is an extremely powerful OPEN HAND MONK Build Guide in Baldur's Gate, the damage output makes it OP in BG3. Being able to deal upwards of 76 damage on a bonus action is just incredible. Paired with the fact we can get 3 bonus actions and tavern brawler, makes this build unstoppable even with a new player. This build will also dodge a lot of spells, as it has a great ability with the evasion. And you can get a pretty decent armor class as well. If you use the hags hair, you'll get another armor class. And then you could even go with higher wisdom via the mirror of loss for an even further increased AC. This build is incredibly useful for a lot of situations and it is a prime candidate for your strength potions.
Seriously, strength potions on this are super powerful. Farm them!

Funny story. My first time playing this game I chose to be a monk. It felt a bit underwhelming considering I didn’t know what I was doing at the time, but once I checked out some UA-cam videos on how devastating this class can be, my mind was blown and I’ve been running with a monk since then 😅
Hahaha yeah it can feel underwhelming until you figure out the flow to it, and then it’s one of the strongest classes in the game easily!

Loving the consistency man! Open hand is so fun because if you’re unarmed, that’s one less weapon you have to share in the group. 😅
make everyone monks and you won't need weapons anymore, well, or play the game either, the game plays by itself
Tavern brawler monk does crazy amounts of damage! Punching the netherbrain to victory is satisfying
The gloves are pretty much the weapon for this build, but there’s multiple different sets throughout the game
Probably worth respeccing to have one level in rogue at the start of the game so you can take advantage the extra skills and expertise early on
Honestly great guide, I’m looking forward to using this with my Githyanki she gets longsword proficiency so grabbing the upgrade that lets you use illithid powers as a bonus action and Voss’ sword is gonna be a lot of fun lmao
Because open hand is so strong you never see anyone do a shadow monk or way of elements build guide, would like to see one or both of those

Feel like you can throw that Rogue class in after level 8 monk, if not earlier like level 4 additional bonus action for most of Act 3 > poison immunity
Yeah you totally can, the Ki resonation are really strong but they can be delayed until a bit later if you want the extra bonus action sooner
Tavern Brawler is in BG3 is amazing the very reason Monk is so strong and throwing builds are insane also
Strongly agree. It’s a lot of fun to play and the attack animations are great
Using this build at the endgame with that chest gloves and boots are almost like a must if you want to become a god but if you don't use those you will still be a demi-god or something because monk is crazy. Also using this build on karlach with soul coins or ascended astarian will get your flurry of blows damages to 120s 150s or smt. Also don't forget to activate your 6 level passives like Jay 🤣
It’s extremely powerful! I wanted to mention the soul coins because it’s glitched and will give double damage right now, but ascended Astarion is huge too for the doubled necrotic damage!

This build is insanely strong. Im maining it right now. Most times ill haste before a fight and always 1st in initiative. I kill a boss before they take a turn

What race you recommend for this build? Also, do you think that Astarion or outher character would be better for this build or nah?
Ascended Astarion is actually the best because his increased damage stacks with the multiple attacks you get from this! Any race can work great as well.
Once you get higher str than Dex with the potion, does dextrous fist no longer work? I forget the name, but the passive that adds my Dex to my dmg instead of str (whichever is higher). Not sure if the potion+tavern brawler overwrites that since str becomes higher.
Tavern Brawler only works with your Strength modifier, and since that feat is so good, you don’t need Dextrous Fist.

How are you getting your strength to 27? I haven’t used strength potions yet so maybe I just don’t understand how they work but they only set it to 21 right?

Inatead of 17 dex bump it down to 16 and give some int for some consistency
If you can hag’s hair the dex to 18 it’s worthwhile but otherwise yeah that consistency is nice
why no corellons grace? if you go 9 into monk you get ki resonate unarmed on your action and don't have an issue with missing unarmed strike

Is there a consistent way to get strength potions?
There’s like 10 vendors in act 3 that carry it, they will have 1-2 potions and you can also purchase cloud giant fingers to make them as well.
The mystic carrion seems to have the ingredients very frequently but check the wiki for a list of all the vendors. You can even respec someone up to level 9 and keep leveling them up to refresh shop inventories
My evil durge is a monk and it's sooo strong what class would you recommend for tactition
Monk is the highest damage class in this game I think! So it would be great for tactician

You can, I’d put more points into strength. I’ll do a video on that sometime but the strength potions damage is so high I’d recommend going that route!
I really want to get back into this game, but for some reason the game is just so choppy/laggy for me.

Why are you demonstrating the massive damage on Mizora where it doesn't show the damage numbers. Show us a combat encounter!
Adding combat into these videos has made the retention low since people don’t watch, and then those videos don’t get recommended to people. Sadly this save file is at the end of the game and there’s only the mother brain left for fights
