- Today I dive into Scottish pop band Aztec Camera. "Somewhere in My Heart" is the third single from their third studio album LOVE released in November 1987. The song was produced by Michael Jonzun and written by singer Roddy Frame. The tune peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart!

I first saw Aztec Camera live in 1983 - still listen to Roddys stuff & reckon he's a criminally underrated songwriter.
Walk out to Winter & Going down the Dip followed by Bigger, Better, Brighter from his later solo stuff are always on my playlists
Oblivious is the best track by this band, released when Roddy was only 17.
Other great Scottish bands from this era were, Orange Juice, Altered Images, The Bluebells and The Associates
This reminds me of being a young girl at school, pixie boots, just seventeen magazine and happy times
He was a great singer songwriter my favourite song's were Hymn to Grace, Killermont street, How Men are ; all worth a listen.
This was one of one of those bands I knew by name only. I saw the name everywhere on magazines, but I never heard anything by them. It’s good!
Only heard of this song in the last couple of years from one of those shark movies - and I lived through the 80's.

I agree with you, pop can be great (occasionally!). I really like this but not quite as much as 'Good morning Britain' performed with Mick Jones (ex Clash). No surprise that it's a very 'British' song lyrically so may not appeal to you quite as much.

This should have been an American top 10. Of course US radio programmers being what they were, it wasn't.
"Aztec who?. No, play something by Whitney or Wham instead".
Takes me back to being at school. So many memories attached to this song. Great pop song. Another favourite song from around that time here in the UK was Broken Land by The Adventures.
