This movie is SO WHOLESOME. Two grown ass racist bastards on opposite sides of the war, come together to honor the hangman by stringing up a mean bastard of a bitch. Brings a tear to my eye.
Idk if it says something about me as a person for choosing this movie as my favorite Tarantino film. But it’s just such an entertaining watch that I can come back to every now and then, and not only enjoy it but pick up stuff that I missed or forgot the previous times around. Then again, that’s many if not every Tarantino film. I just think the mystery aspect, the structure of the film, the comedy paired with the absolute beast of a roster that this cast is; makes this my favorite even amongst his classics.
Walton Goggins is such an underrated actor. The TV series Justified is one of my favorites and Goggins was incredible as the main villain for the series.
watching Justified right now (just finished s3), Goggins is amazing + Timothy Olyphant is a huge discovery for me too, i only knew him from that old Hitman film, Justified is one of a hell good piece of TV!

3:30 im surprised Tarantino hasn't made a western about a black "Indian" because there were fugitive slaves that used to hide in native American tribes to get away from white slave catchers and the tribes would teach the slaves to become warriors almost like a "Dances with wolves" experience
My favorite behind the scenes was when Kurt Russel smashes the guitar. Apparently it was an original expensive piece and her reaction was genuine. He wasn’t supposed to smash that specific guitar.
i know i'm late to this but the reason a black bounty hunter sounds familiar is because this film was initially concepted as a Django Unchained sequel titled "Django in White Hell" but Tarantino changed it along the writing phase as he though Django didn't fit in this story.

You alluded to it at 3:30. Tarantino said that he wanted this to be another Django movie, basically the continuing adventures of Django the bounty hunter, but realized while writing it he needed his characters to be angrier than Django should or could be.
Daisy Domergue was played by Jennifer Jason Leigh, from SINGLE WHITE FEMALE & FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMOUNT HIGH. Her dad was Vic Morrow, he was killed on the set of THE TWILIGHT ZONE movie
Damn it is 10 years ago when the script was leaked online and some of us geeks read it and loved it. Tarantino at first refused to make the movie, but eventually rewrote the script and made the movie.....the Sam Jackson story about the generals son is spot on as he wrote it originally, damn how do u come up with this :)
This movie was such a trip watching the first time around, I hated Chris Mannox as well. By the end I really wanted him and Warren to make it out alive but oh well. I loved how he gave Warren no respect but by the end he was pretty much his second in command…and then the Lincoln letter reading at the very end…such a great movie. Plus 95% was in Mini’s haberdashery so it was all just great writing/dialogue.
I absolutely love Sam in the movie the way he read that room and figured out what was happening and when he baited that old man was my favorite part of the movie also liked how him and the other dude came together and handled biz
It is the 8th film that Quentin Tarantino, solely, wrote and directed. He's been involved in a few other films, as a writer, director, or actor. He also has collaborated on films that don't count as his. He only is going to make one more of his movies. He has a self imposed retirement after 10 movies, which sucks but it is his right. He thinks directing is a young man's game for some reason, even though there have been plenty of highly talented older directors. I hope he changes his mind. Jackie Brown is my shit.
I know there's no way I'm the first person to say this but I will anyways LOL. The guitar that the girl was playing was donated to the production by a company that had vintage guitars from that era. When Kurt Russell grab the guitar and broke it he didn't know that he was grabbing on to 150 or so year-old guitar and smashing it against the wall. Needless to say the company that has the vintage guitars said they will never let a guitar be used in a movie again LOL
from what i recall it was something likea 160 year old antique, and the guitar she had learned to play on. that's why she seems SO shocked when he breaks it. apparently Kurt Russell felt terrible when he realised what had happened. it cost about $4000
Yep, her reaction was completely genuine, and apparently the company that loaned out the guitar stopped letting people use their stuff, at least for a while I'm sure. @@beedubree2550
My favorite Tarantino film. The 2 parts that make me die Is when the stagecoach driver comes in out of the blizzard and grabs those blankets and then just scoots as close to the fire as he can get. And pretty much everything that Sam L Says after he gets his nuts blown off.
One of my favourite movies by one of my two favourite filmmakers (you can probably guess the other). One of the great things about this one is that, much like Reservoir Dogs, It could fairly easily be done as a stage play. It's largely just excellent actors delivering brilliant dialogue. The four-hour version is definitely worth seeing, as well.

Jennifer Jason Leigh absolutely kills it, perfectly portraying Daisy as the tough, sick and demented psycho she is. That guitar scene goes from great to amazing once you find out about the trivia behind it and her reaction. This was Quentin Tarantino's attempt at doing a "western detective" story, like Agatha Christie meets Sergio Leone.
