    The way I found out about this tribe is by getting stopped by border patrol when I was chasing thunderstorms during the monsoons .. I was told that I was trespassing .

    I say hire people in the tribes to monitor and guard their own section of the border. Maintaining the tribes integrate and create employment for them. Maybe just monitor the border of the tribe. They know their own people.

    I had read an article about this tribe when the wall was first talked about. The Tohono tribe has a total right to dictate what will be built on their land. My honest opinion that the wall was poorly thought out, as a quick solution to a ptoblem. The wall was a waste of money, due to the situation with tribe. It is their land. Bottom line. Another failed policy of Trump

      @@paintup46 It’s not as dangerous as people put it out to be as some the tribal elders lived there all of their lives. A Tohono o’odham man declined a polite offer to smuggle drugs from someone legal in the U.S. Never bothered again after the incident. A few elders don’t feel threatened by migrants while hate border patrol keep watching their business when bored.

      @@xwrtk I am very familiar, i lived in Ajo for quite some time. Yes it is pretty dangerous based on the fact that people don’t really discuss what happens in this part of the country. You only hear about “illegal immigration” which pulls on the heart strings and the other side of it may change the amount of sympathy they give for the situation. We have heard that the Rez is under extortion with the cartels, have no proof that it is true, as their land is wide open and smugglers have a straight shot through the desert to I-8, and I-10. I don’t believe the cartels have any sympathy for the natives.

    That border patrol dude was a master of not answering a question... at all... and still speaking many many words. Big words! Tremendous words!
    He could have been a lot more honest about what he was not willing to say and cut out all the babble. But no, they're just as transparent as any other government body. Is good. Much good

  • @paintup46
    @paintup46 2 роки тому +3

    Why dont you talk to the residents who complain of cartel extortion? How about a few miles north in Sells? Where drugs and gangs are destroying the reservation? You need to keep it real in these kind of docu’s.

    • @xwrtk
      @xwrtk 2 роки тому +2

      They do. It’s even in the website. Just the drugs part. They don’t like how some of their members partake in drugs and sell to make money as poor. A man from the tribe was asked to sell drugs by legal “cartel” member and offered a lot money but he declined after considering and nothing bad happened to him as they let him be. Video was/is on the website with the man. Man wasn’t sure if he truly cartel but was told that was legal so he wouldn’t have to worry. This is from multiple different news interviews so they post the videos.

    So this is like due citizenship basically, and you just show your ID and go about your business right? So whats the big deal that's cool you have the privilege to cross the border so easily no problems, from Colorado all the way to Mexico was Mexico until 1845, then tons of Mexican plains Indians and mountain regions Mexican Indians become, native Americans, so wouldn't everyone in these territories originally be native Mexican Indian, that makes a lot of sense, and the cartel is the problem here not anyone else

    This guy is out of breath just by strolling casually...unhealthy habits in the Native community are the true threat.

    • @gabbym333
      @gabbym333 3 роки тому +8

      Unfortunately, a lot of those unhealthy "habits" are the result of the U.S. government taking away land that indigenous communities have traditionally used to farm healthy food. After the loss of land, many native communities starved and struggled to find reliable food sources. The U.S. government then supplied the communities with highly processed food, that has significantly contributed to the high rates of obesity and diabetes in Native communities.
