If there is rebirth, I hope to come back as a Sikh, I dont know how old you are but in 1984, I was 24 years old. I remember Hindus being butchered like sheep every other day. Being pulled ut of their homes, buses, trains lined up and machin gunned nazi style. This was much before 84. What happened in 1984 was organized by a political party. There is no Hindu institution that organized the murders of Sikhs. The fact that the murderers of 1984 got away is extremely shameful, but Sikhs have a blind spot when it comes to the butchery of ordinary Hindus before 1984. This was driven by Bhindranwale. Why ??? It left me really bewildered that the very people who had protected India and Hindus were capable of such cruelty to innocents. My memory of that era is very painful. I cannot imagine how bad it must have been for ordinary Punjabis ( Hindu and Sikh ) We cant have that madness again. Punjab has been so damaged since. We need to put that behind and embrace the brotherhood that has always existed between Hindus and Sikhs

I am over 50 years old, but I remember (my ancestors are from Haryana) that the oldest son of the family was given to Sikhism. They were us and we were them (to me we still are). We are hindus, but we never thought of us as separate, we are one. This tradition goes back years.

In 1984, when I was just 14, something big and frightening happened in New Delhi. But I want to tell you about a special story from my own neighborhood, Hari Nagar Pocket B.
Even though there were scary noises outside, the people in my area acted like heroes. My neighbors, no matter if they were Hindu, Sikh stood together like a giant team. They made sure their Sikh friends, like my best friend Diljeet, were safe. They even hid them in their homes.
When I look back, I don’t just remember the scary parts, but the way everyone in Hari Nagar Pocket B showed that love and friendship are stronger than any fear or hate.
I don’t have words to express gratitude towards neighbours who tried to save you all by risking their own lives and their families, they showed what true heroism is.
My Hindu relatives were tenants of a Sikh landlord. They lived as a family before 1984 and continued to live that way beyond 1984. When the killings were happening in Delhi, the landlord and family (with precious belongings) stayed with the tenant's family. Feels good that neighbors stood for each other and supported humanity in general.

I am a hindu and used to go to gurdwara with my Sikh friend every Saturday, langar bhi khaya, sewa bhi ki safai bhi ki .never ever in my life felt that Sikh and Hindus are different. We are same to the core.

We are always pained to remember that this happened in our country. Towards those who are part of us, we fought together, who protected us from Mughals. It was extremely difficult and terrible time. Have heard of many such horrible stories from our elders. It would make one cry even to imagine what all happened during 84. Saddest part is those perpetrators (Tytler, HKL Bhagat and other senior leaders) roam/roamed free for decades and held senior positions.
It fills my heart with peace and pride that many Sikh brothers were sheltered and protected in our home in Delhi. We are indebted to Sikhs. They are brothers and we must do anything that would make them feel healed and happy.

Otherwise once khalistan was formed, we would be forced to leave overnight . Literally like Kashmir Files/ Shikara movies showed, our neighbors were shamelessly telling us to sell house to their known property dealers and leave Punjab and save our lives. One of our older family friend was forced into doing so. He ended up selling his house for almost half price.

Sing sahab. Really appreciate your analysis and the need for applying healing all around. There is no doubt the sikh community made so many sacrifices and is always in the forefront when it comes to providing help wherever it is needed. However let us also acknowledge the fact that a lot of hindus in the thousands were mercilessly killed in Punjab pre operation blue star. This had created a lot of animosity and anger amongst the Hindus. The 84 riots were a result if all this pent up anger. When ever u r analysing any aspect all the context has to be taken into consideration. Nothing happens in isolation. This would be a just way of approaching a problem.
Thanks for bringing this up. Hindu massacre was going on for a long time before 1984. And this is conveniently ignored. Growing up during those troubled times was very difficult. Constant fear of bomb blasts, strike calls by terrorist groups, life would shut down as soon as it got dark.

It definitely was like a genocide. My mom tells me that My Agarwal nana nani house had a sikh family living on rent back then. They hid them and helped them hide their photos. Sikh people cut their hair to hide their identity.
Not only nana nani’s family. So many people helped sikhs on rent or sikhs leaving nearby then. But unfortunately lots of houses were burnt and lots were killed.
It’s important to acknowledge such a blunder first. It definitely is traumatic.

Khalistan supporters may be just a fringe group, but still a danger and a security threat to our country and Govt must deal with it with all their strength to get it eradicated. Because kashmiri pandits never demanded a separate state or fought against their own nation, there have been many riots har religion ka yahi karte baithega to desh ke tukde tukde hojayenge this is not for wht the union of India created. I am so proud that my family saved 2 Sikh families in Rohini, Delhi back in 1984 and gave them shelter for 10 days. From that day onwards, my family stopped supporting Congress too!

Everyone is repeating that justice must be delivered and everyone saying Sikhs are their brothers but you don't find these kind of comments from the other side. No compassion for Kashmiri Pandits or the victims of Moplah or the Brahaman genocide after Gandhi's assassination. We love and respect the Ten Gurus like our own. We are taught this at our homes but how our Gods are treated? Remeber the video of Nihang abusing Godess Durga? Remeber british sikh spitting in face of an ordinary Hindu couple, calling them cow dung eaters? Remeber our tricolour removed from the embassy and sikhs in canada playing football with our tricolour and Temples in Australia being vandalised? Till when this one sided love will last? Love is love only when it's reciprocated. Without it it's just submission and Hindus have never and will never submit. I hope the descendants of the Great Gurus will understand this. ॐ
Your point is valid but you guys are majority. You guys are the rulers. You can easily take justice by doing eye for an eye like Godhra, 1984, manipur, riots suppression in UP and so on which I don’t support by the by even if I was Hindu. People talk about Hindu rashter which is offensive to minorities and threat to their existence as an equal citizen. When someone use word Khalistan or kashmir independence in same way they are labeled as terrorist. I hope you understand the difference. As a a minority may be people should try to appreciate good side of Indian nation. But if minorities don’t speak up when they intimidated. It will not stop itself. By the way some Sikhs and muslims treat others minortitis in same way as they are victimised. So sometime I feel lot these issues are overrated. May we all find a way of healthy resolution for all of us. May we all live in peace harmoniously🙏

Yess today you can say that the govt is a pro Hindu govt. But just look back into the history of Bharat and tell me which govt has been a Hindu govt since 1947? For approx last 70 years majority of the govts were either by the congress or dominated by the congress. And how they treated Hindus? Like some one whom you hate with your gut. You call us majority? Really? A majority which was always on the receiving side of the riots, majority which cannot even control it's own places worship, a majority which was kicked out from a state of their forefathers like and were bound to live like refugees in their own nation, a majority which can't take out their religious processions peacefully because they will be pelted with stones for no reasons? Brother I can count you reasons after reasons why it's horrible to be a Hindu in Bharat. I know you won't agree because of your amritpal logic but until now whenever I used to say Hindu I meant Hindus Sikhs Jains but the study of history has changed this. Now I know how much my people are hated. Now I know why people support people like bhindranwale who killed Hindus like insects and took pride in it. And then they call themselves victims. Your argument actually means that a majority can't be oppressed in a country which in itself is flawed. Mughals and British in Bharat, Spain in Latin America, Europeans in South Africa and North America. You name the continent and I'll show you the numbers. All these places were/are populated with natives which were oppressed by the tiny more powerful population. And that's why they hate us. No matter how hard they tried but they never succeeded against Hindus. Neither in mind nor in power. With mind they tried to convert us to worship a formless master being but we refused and we are the only living pagans and it's not like we exist for the name sake, we are thriving. On power front they tried to get over us but we fought and we are the only ones else of European Christians who stopped Islam from converting a whole country. And we are damn proud of it. We can lose battles, we can die in torture but our spirit of Sanskriti and Dharma is invisible. And you took out the issue of Hindu Rashtra. Brother if Bharat is not Hindu Rashtra then what is? And when you talk about Bharat being inclusive and diverse just tell me where these values come from? They come from our roots. They come from our attitude. They come from our celebration of life which is called Hinduism. The day Bharat will stop being a Hindu Rashtra it will not remain a Rashtra anymore. It will become a Punjab, a Gujrat, a Bengal, a Tamilnadu and so on. Bharat is the body and Hindu is the soul. Both can't exist without each other. Sometimes I think we are also cursed with hate from others like Jews but then I think its okay. They created an Israil. We will also create Akhand Bharat. Haters will continue to hate and makers will continue to make.
