Again, this video is not about all of India's history. This was about the history and current situation with the Sikh diaspora and the Sikh minority in India. Your lack of proper research and casual indifference to the Sikh community's long-standing trauma were noted. You say you did not want to dig up past wounds - yes, you have. Why was proper research not done for this video? You think you did justice to the 1984 genocide and subsequent disappearances/killings? Can there be TRUE reconciliation without acknowledging the wrongdoings of the past? Look at your comment section and look at the Sikhs stating that they do not want Khalistan and expressing their pride and love for India ... and then look at the anti-Sikh comments. This is precisely what your video has furthered - an anti-Sikh agenda. This is what happens when you gloss over the shitty parts of our history and you have participated in this.

1984 anti sikh Riots were Genocide by the government not Roits for which except court cases no punishment has been given, which actually triggers all these kind of issues but widely 95% Sikhs wants justice for themselves not Khalistan. 02:00 Mandir k andar ladai nhi thi, bahar thi and reason was - Indian Council ka 1 person came from India to Canada to have a camp to check old pension people and get them life certificate. But due to anger in few people because of the past happening during 1984 and onwards, kisaan andolan, Indian govt bad behaviour etc. People just oppose Indian govt by raising flags and slogans and a wrong narrative was set by Indian govt IT cell itself that Sikh have attacked the mandir, where it was just like a protest but many Hindu people came started giving abuse to the other side, smashing their flags and started targeting various sikh personalities. Then after some time a small fight started just outside the Mandir just because of the Indian govt decision to hold that camp in Mandir premises and many Sikh also opposed going to Mandir for such work. And then Hindus surrounded the Sikh Gurdwara as well that the media is never showing in the clips. Godi Media showing only one sided news. Indian govt fault!

I do not support Khalistan, but your research on Sikhism and Punjab’s history seems lacking. I recommend spending some time in Punjab, visiting villages, and speaking with Punjabi Sikhs to understand Punjab’s issues since 1947. This could give you the insight needed to make a more informed video.

Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale never demanded Khalistan. Neither was the pre 1984 turmoil was related to separatism. His demand was for Anandpur Sahib Resolution which demanded greater federal structure (to which the delhi government agreed and back flipped several times).
Separatism actually emerged AFTER the Darbar Sahib attack because Sikhs were deeply hurt and the attack validated the stand of separatist micro minority that existed since 1947.
Pre 84 there were Hindu Mahasabha and it's proxies trying their best to create a communal environment in Punjab (just how they are doing with Muslims).
This is oversimplification over a very complex subject and a very complex personality. I urge you to reach out to regional reporters from that era and read more books. (e.g. Jagtar Singh)

Asking for "greater federalism" challenges the overarching centre . It used to be the norms last to last century for empires some regions had their own dominions.. but modern countries cannot survive much with large part of its land being a dominion out of the union.
Kashmir was such and if that referendum or whatever you call that was followed every state would have asked for their kind of autonomy and that would have very much weakened the overarching central powers.

India (Republic of India) didn't exist before 1947. Italy didn't exist before 1860. Turkey didn't exist before 1921, Germany didn't exist before 1871, Saudi Arabia didn't exist before 1932 and so on. Concept of Countries was invented in Europe in the 18th century. Before the invention of the concept of countries, there were only empires and kingdoms. Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Denmark, Poland, Switzerland, Slovenia, Netherlands, lechesiten etc were created after fall of Holy Roman empire and subsequent kingdoms in Europe.
Turkey was created after the fall of the Ottomans empire in 1923. Dozens of countries were created based on nationalities after the fall of the Ottomans empire in 1922. Saudi Arabia was created in 1932 after the fall of Ottomans Empire in 1922. Saudi Arabia didn't exist When Prophet Muhammad was born in Mecca. Italy was created in 1860 by merging various small kingdoms of Italian nationality. Similarly, Germany was created in 1871 by merging various small kingdoms of German nationality. Similarly, all European countries were created based on nationalities. Europe and Middle East was united under various empires and kingdoms for most of the history just like India. India was the name for the region east to river Indus. It was never a country before 1947 but a region or subcontinent where various empires and kingdoms existed just like in Europe, Middle East or other parts and continents of world.
Now the question is what is nation and nationality? A nation is a society that shares a common language, culture, and history and has shared interests. For example English, German, Italian, Turkish, French, Russian, Dutch, Spanish, Arabs, Persian, Kurds, Japanese, Korean, Punjabi, kashmiri, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Malyalam, Thai etc are nations and a country based on single nation or nationality or where a single nationality dominates culturally, politically, in economy and military is called a nation state. There are dozens of nations within India and Pakistan. And hence India and Pakistan are union of nations or multinational countries. Republic of India was created in 1947 out of the British Indian empire on the basis of two nations bogus theory. Two nations were assumed as Islam and hindusim. According to research, Higher ethnic or national diversity within a country negatively affects economic growth through conflict between interests of various nations or ethnicities (Don't confuse the ethnic or national diversity with the multiculturalism in west due to migration, the migrants mix with diverse society and become part of nationality of the host country and work for the interests of the dominant nationality).
High nationality or ethnic Diversity correlates with low GDP per capita.
Strong democracy correlates with ethnic or national homogeneity.
Punjab and Kashmir should be a free countries based on Punjabi and Kashmiri nationalities like Bangladesh. But Hindu Punjabis, Hindu Kashmiris and Muslims punjabi don't want to leave india and Pakistan, so we Punjabi Sikhs, or Kashmiri muslims can't force them to follow us. Hindu Punjabis, who had deserted Punjabi language in 1951 and 1961 census by declaring Hindi as their mother tongue would never support a Punjabi nation state. They support a Indian state based on the Hindu religion. Similarly, Punjabi Muslims of Pakistan dont support Punjabi nation state either. They support Pakistan state that is based on Islam religion.
Similarly, Bengali Hindus and Kashmiri Hindus don't support Bangla nation state Bangladesh and Azad Kashmir and want to live in India which is based on Hinduism. So Punjabi muslims, Punjabi Hindus, Kashmiri Hindus and Bengali Hindus are free to stay in their respective countries based on religions. But similar to Bangla Muslims of East Pakistan, who created Bangla nation state Bangladesh without Indian Bengali Hindus, Sikhs have the right to create Azad Punjab (a Punjabi nation state) without Punjabi Hindus and Punjabi Muslims (and Azad Kashmir without Kashmiri Hindus). As simple as that.
We Punjabi Sikhs have no problem living in a Punjabi Muslims or Punjabi Hindu majority Punjabi nation state but they don't support nation state unlike modern civilised world but a state based on religion.
The Punjabi speaker population of Muslims is around 10 crore. Punjabi speaking population of Hindus is around 3 crore (Punjabi Hindus in Punjab, Himchal, Haryana, Jammu and Delhi). Punjabi speaker Sikh population is around 2 crore. Hence Sikhs would be minority if both Punjabi muslims and Hindus or either one of them come form a Punjabi nation state with us Sikhs. We Sikhs have no problem living as minority in Punjabi nation state among majority Punjabi muslims and Punjabi Hindus, But their radicals minds prefer religion over their nationality and they love to give up their Punjabi nationality and adopt Hindi and Urdu nationality in order to create a state based on their respective religions.
So when Sikhs alone form a Punjabi nation state, it would automatically be a Sikh majority Punjabi nation state called Khalistan. What's in the name? We are open to change the name and keep it Punjab instead of Khalistan and also write the word secular state in constitution because it wouldn't change anything in practice. In practice it would still be Khalistan just like India is a Hindu rashtra in practice regardless of its official name or regardless of its constitution..

We Hindus don't hate Sikh (for me Hindu Rastra means Hindus, Sikh, Buddhist, Jains all together), if they hate you will not seeing many Hindus visiting Gurudwaras and Sikh population would decrease as in Afghanistan and Pakistan (also many gurudwaras outside India is destroyed by non-hindus and non-sikhs). I do not know what is wrong with people why they want khalistan , i am a sikh woman born and raised in Punjab in a very small village. I typically agree and align with much of what you share and often share your channel with those around me to get an unbiased perspective. While I agree with many things you have said in this video, you have very casually glossed over the actual trauma and the genocide that Sikhs have faced in India. It's this very casual indifference that has led to intergenerational trauma for many Sikh families. You do realize that many Sikhs fleed India to avoid your easily glossed over 'police justice' or '1984 riots' - these people saw their families killed, their mother/wives/daughter raped ... they barely escaped the atrocities themselves. Following the genocide, there were several disappearances of young Sikh men in Punjab. This diaspora retained these hurt feelings, this gross injustice, this undeniable betrayal by their own country and passed these feelings down generation after generation - this, my friend, is how trauma works. How can you call what happened in 1984 a 'riot' when it was one-sidedly organized by the government and attacked specific areas where Sikh communities lived in Delhi? Do you have any idea how many actual Sikhs were tortured and murdered in the 1980s? The numbers are grossly underreported. How can you have a much-needed discussion on Khalistan (I am a Sikh, and I oppose Khalistan) without truly accepting and apologizing for the Sikh genocide? I am so disappointed with your coverage on this truly complex and sensitive matter. This seemed more like a "we have suffered as well" instead of actually highlighting the trauma that the innocent Sikh community in Delhi and Punjab faced in the 1980s. Just to let everybody know that Bhindran wala was never in the favour of separate state he just wanted the Anandpur sahib resolution, once you read that you get to know the demands weren’t separatists but were for the well being of us. And also the army was already in the Darbar sahib complex by 1st june. Making things more clear the devotees in the complex were never used as hostages. Also talking about the fight in Brampton was ignited by the so called “patriots” living out of their own country. Things never remain the same once you try n get to the roots, i have talked to so many of my relatives who have been the part of the movement, my father himself have been to Bhindran Wala and he say he had a great vision. And we know here in India somebody with great vision is never supported by the government. And also why the people in jail since 1984 haven’t been released it have been more the 40 years.

Dont compare the term "Hindu rashtra" with khalistan as it is inappropriate to do so. I'll tell you why. The idea of "Hindu rashtra" is a loose idea which has been floated by some irrational people just like "Ghazwa-E-Hind". We all know both of these are meaningless and will never happen. Neither any demonstration or public gathering happen in these cases. But for khalistanis, "Khalistan" is an active agenda which includes holding public gatherings and violent demonstrations.
