Preston, even as a hardcore tool fan, this song took me a while to really get it and appreciate it. It's complex but when you have listened a couple times to it it really grows on you and in the end you will love every second of it. I've always wondered how do they write stuff like this?! Genius.
Listen to it in the mind of someone who took way too much of a hallucinogenic drug. Beginning of the song Doctor, "tell me all about it." Alrighty then!
I did hear Adam Jones and Danny get a beat and rhythm and guitar then Maynard comes in after and puts lyrics together... I remember Maynard saying this in a interview. Might be true lol
The bass and drums under the guitar solo section is pure art, especially from a musician perspective. Danny's drums are playing 3/4, 5/4, and 6/8 simultaneously while the bass is doing a 15/8 pulse to lock it together. Amazing!
Damn, you just happened to pick the number one song that you absolutely need the lyrics to. I remember I listened to this song for months and I didn't even know what it was about. It's about some crazy shit man.
I think he did it right, just listen at first. then, go back and bring the lyrics in. especially for this song. there are a number of lines in this song that are hard to rectify with what you hear. for.example: "breath that reeked of vanilla Chig Champa, Did a slow-mo Matrix descent out of the butt end of the banana vessel".
Ryan B You took the words right out of my mouth! Check the comment I posted earlier re: the same - “I couldn’t love this more!! .... than if you were to have had the lyrics up on screen at the same time. It’s simply a MUST! No negotiation lol. Please please please take the time out to do another Rosetta Stoned reaction video only this time you really need to have the lyrics up on the screen as well. I can’t quite express how necessary this is, because this being one of my favourite Tool songs, you just can not appreciate it in its entirety until you know all of the lyrics as you are listening. It even took me a number of lyric studies on this song before I fully appreciated the magic. It’s so special and other worldly, I really hope to see a semi-revised reaction vid soon :) I’m hanging for these Tool reaction videos, your commentary and excitement / appreciation is infectious and truly a breath of fresh air in a world where not nearly enough people are awakened to the motherfucking masterpiece that is, Tool 🖤”
The intro song, Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman) is the main character in the hospital where he is alone the doctor and nurse come in and has no ID and then Rosetta Stoned just It's about him explaining what happened which was a yogi DMT experience on LSD outside of Area 51 where he came into contact with with an alien "its gotta be this deadhead chemistry(LSD) blotter came out on top of me (LSD) got me seeing E mother fuckin T" then the character feels like they were told how to be a hero to the world but cant remember it said he should have written it down, this is a common theme amongst the psychedelic experience.. amazing revelations that you cant quite remember after coming down.. unless you write it down. But the song goes out saying don't know wont know so maybe theyre saying the whole psychedelic experience is somewhat useless
Alex Dahl couldn’t agree more! I wrote this comment earlier myself: I couldn’t love this more!! .... than if you were to have had the lyrics up on screen at the same time. It’s simply a MUST! Alright then, picture this if you will: 10 to 2 AM, X, Yogi DMT, and a box of Krispy Kremes, in my "need to know" pose, just outside of Area 51. Contemplating the whole "chosen people" thing with just a flaming stealth banana split the sky like one would hope but never really expect to see in a place like this. Cutting right angle donuts on a dime and stopping right at my Birkenstocks, and me yelping... Holy fucking shit! Then the X-Files being, looking like some kind of blue-green Jackie Chan with Isabella Rossellini lips and breath that reeked of vanilla Chig Champa, Did a slow-mo Matrix descent out of the butt end of the banana vessel and hovered above my bug-eyes, my gaping jaw, and my sweaty L. Ron Hubbard upper lip and all I could think was: "I hope Uncle Martin here doesn't notice that I pissed my fuckin' pants." So light in his way, Like an apparition, He had me crying out, "Fuck me. It's gotta be Deadhead Chemistry. The blotter got right on top of me. Got me seein' E-motherfuckin'-T!" And after calming me down with some orange slices and some fetal spooning, E.T. revealed to me his singular purpose. He said, "You are the Chosen One, the One who will deliver the message. A message of hope for those who choose to hear it and a warning for those who do not." Me. The Chosen One? They chose me! And I didn't even graduate from fuckin' high school. You'd better... You'd better... You'd better... You'd better listen Then he looked right through me With somniferous almond eyes. Don't even know what that means Must remember to write it down. This is so real. Absolutely love how you looked like you wanted to stop and comment but you couldn’t. That’s what their stuff does, it keeps you interested and enveloped, waiting for what’s next. And that’s just the music.
I'm pretty sure I've only seen Tool perform this song live once. And I've seen them live 10 times so they don't play it often. I remember it very well because it was the first real concert I ever went to. The venue was badass. The Buell Theater in Denver, which only holds around 2,200 people and has great acoustics. It was a tiny venue for Tool. The tickets were pretty expensive and I remember Maynard posted on their website that people shouldn't worry because they would be touring many more times (which was obviously true since I've seen them that many times, all since they released their most recent album.) They were just hitting a few smaller venues on their first tour in support of 10,000 Days. I think his exact quote was "fuck the scalpers". Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned was the first song they played. When the curtain went up, the only one on the stage was Justin, playing the highest possible note on his bass. That's the high pitched sound throughout Lost Keys. Then Adam came out, playing some of the lowest notes on his guitar, which was a mindfuck because I thought it was the other way around. Then Danny and Maynard came out and Rosetta Stoned started. 10,000 days had only been out for 8 days at the time of that show (5/10/06). It also happened to be Danny's 45th birthday, which Maynard reminded us of several times. Haha! It was an unforgettable concert!
Rosetta Stoned, in urban jargon, is a state of mind caused by exaggerated intake of drugs and alcohol. This state allows you to travel beyond the known dimensions and to speak, in complete confusion, in other languages and with extraterrestrial civilizations. The song tells an episode of Rosetta Stoned. It's about a boy who lives one of these experiences near Area 51 while he was under the influence of DMT. He is subsequently hospitalized but being in a state of confusion he does not remember the important revelations that the alien would have told him. But, being under DMT to remember and having forgotten his pen to take notes, he could not divulge the message. Rosetta Stoned is still an anagram that stands for "Alien OR ExTraterrestrial TESTS ON Dave". Maynard sings interpreting the confusional state of the boy in an incredible way: he sings very fast, with the megaphone, distorted and kneading the words making the whole thing incomprehensible. A disordered stream of consciousness, apparently a senseless copy and paste. Little by little the words and the voice become clearer, as if the effect of the drug is fading, until it regains almost clarity in the final part when he sings "Overwhelmed as one would be placed in my position ...", with a much cleaner voice as if it had come back shiny. very beautifull. This song is wonderfully beautiful. thanx for the Christmas gift, man!
I like the enthusiasm dial but maybe it would be better to start around 6th grade to 9th that may be more efficient. Also incorporate in the education the true/darker side of human history by that age so they can relate better to the music and unlock it's lessons. Do them a WORLD of good cause we all know kids see the darker side of things early.
YES! React again with the lyrics! They bring everything together and explain the instrumental chaos. Then it'll make perfect sense. We'll be waiting for the new review :D (hopefully not more than a few hours)!
I could not agree more those are two of my favorite songs by Pusifer along with Rev:22 momma said vagina mine the Hollow is a really great song from APC my favorite song is by and down you should check em Preston I think these songs will show you another side of MJK to allow you to see in from another perspective you should enjoy these here
This is their most complex song and hardest to play according to Danny (drummer), but yeah you really can’t review any Tool song without doing some research beforehand. It’s also imperative to listen along with lyrics, ESPECIALLY with this one. Once you listen with lyrics, it makes sense why it’s all over the place. This song shows off their genius, tbh. The time signatures are astounding. Be ready for their next album to be indicative to this and wings: complex, chaotic, random and precise. Review it again, hone in on the lyrics and the drums. In fact, lol, review it again tonight while it’s still fresh
I was waiting to see how you reacted to this song, and it’s probably exactly the same way all diehard Tool fans felt during their first listen. I hated it the first time, but it grew on me after a couple times listening to it ,and now I love it. Merry Christmas and I think it’s time for THIRD EYE...you’re going to love it.
The part at 13:52 gives me the most chills a song has ever given me and still does. I must've heard this song hundreds of times but something about the bass and drums together at that part sounds so good and terrifying, it's just such a crushing part. And then the build right after that which takes you to the climax. My God, what a song. I dont think this song will ever get old to me.
What an amazing Christmas present! Thank you for all the happiness this last year, Preston. You've made me smile during some dark times. For everyone reading this, make 2019 a pivotal year in your life. Be your own inspiration. Don't wait for the world to give you an opportunity - make your own! Also if you're still reading and you liked this song structure here you should give a listen to Elder - Sanctuary or Thousand Hands. Their whole Reflections of a Floating World album is perfection. Love to all!
Merry Christmas Preston! Thank you for sharing your love and appreciation for music. We have very similar taste and I can always count on you discovering some great songs. Take a listen to Live - Lakini's Juice. I think you'll find a lot of different elements that you'll enjoy.
I couldn’t love this more!! .... than if you were to have had the lyrics up on screen at the same time. It’s so special and other worldly, I really hope to see a semi-revised reaction vid soon :) I’m hanging for these Tool reaction videos, your commentary and excitement / appreciation is infectious and truly a breath of fresh air in a world where not nearly enough people are awakened to the motherfucking masterpiece that is, Tool 🖤
In the song, a character goes through a “drug trip” in the infamous deserts of Area 51. It’s a long, daunting occurrence especially when the aliens approach him, pick him up and tell him he is the chosen one. The Rosetta Stone is a Ptolemaic age granodiorite stele inscribed with a decree issued at Memphis in 196 BC on behalf of King Ptolemy V. The decree appears in three scripts: the upper text is Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, the middle portion Demotic script, and the lowest Ancient Greek. Because it presents essentially the same text in all three scripts (with some minor differences among them), it provided the key to the modern understanding of Egyptian hieroglyphs. The term “Rosetta stone” has been used idiomatically to represent a crucial key to the process of decryption of encoded information, especially when a small but representative sample is recognized as the clue to understanding a larger whole. The title of the song is a play on this term in the context of trying to “evolve” or discover and understand aliens, much like the Rosetta Stone was used to understand the ancient Egyptians, and of course being stoned/drugged out of your mind as well. It implies that drugs are this character’s Rosetta Stone, in other words his key to decoding and understanding this civilization.
The story told, in the lyrics, ties together with the chaos of the music. Tool is great at this. Don't know if you've ever done acid, or any other type of psychedelic, but it can get a bit... wild. They capture it pretty well. Would be interesting to see a second reaction video, with your reactions when new dots start connecting.
That's what I love about it, a seemingly insane person tells their story, an innocent being appears within and you sympathize but then the chaos takes over and you're dealing with someone who is without a doubt intelligible and out of their tree, the song goes in waves like most LSD trips and the way the whole band portrayed it is dumbfounding
I felt the same way when I first heard this. It was chaotic but I thought “it’s Tool, I gotta trust them” and listened to a quite a few times and then I was able to anticipate every change up. One of my favs now.
Reaction with the lyrics is a must on this song. You’ll appreciate the complexity of this song even more, not to mention how genius it is ( like all TOOL songs).
Third eye is even crazier my man. Both Rosetta Stoned and Third Eye are Tool’s craziest songs. They’re both intimidating and will leave you lost on a first listen through. If you got through RS, then you’re ready for Third Eye. It’s time :)
Haven't watched yet but very much looking forward to this.. Edit: Just watched. You need lyrics with this one for sure. And you'll need to listen to it several more times. I've listened hundreds of times and still hear things I haven't heard before. Merry Christmas Preston!!
I haven't even finished this whole video but the fact that you linked Pink Floyd and Tool tells me that you are connecting to the essence of music that transcends genre. Those two bands are miles apart in style but evoke the same emotions. Much respect!
“As soon as I get used to it they switch it up on me again” the song forces you to shut up and pay attention, it locks you in by not being predictable. You have to engage yourself to see where the song takes you.
when it comes to Tool, the comment section has always told you that Tool are Masters at making you FEEL in the music what is in the lyrics... i did not realize *you didn't have the lyrics in front of you somewhere* and there is no other way to even begin to grasp this one! so YES PLEASE RE-REACT WITH THE LYRICS for us!! i don't know if you ever did hardcore hallucinogens before Preston, (i never have but i was somehow always surrounded by people on them and learned a lot about them) but the reason the song feels so chaotic is because that is exactly what it is about.... someone Tripping HARD and apparently ending up in a hospital or somewhere that no one could possibly understand such a thing, and him trying to explain it to them... (i mean, there is SO much more to it than that but, in a nutshell...) that is why the song is so erratic and uncomfortable, yet you are totally waiting on every next moment.... like YOU are trying to make sense of the nonsensical narrative of this person and the music is changing as fast as his perception and mood is.... but it isn't like a "Pro-Hallucinogen" song just for the sake of taking them. i actually think it is quite the opposite. i am sure it sounded like just total insanity, but there is most definitely a message in this song! i don't doubt that the WHOLE of the comment section, especially those who recommended this song specifically, TOTALLY meant for you to have the lyrics in front of you, so yeah, i am absolutely another vote for a Re-do WITH the lyrics... i would love to watch your reaction to THAT!!!
Tool guitarist Adam Jones told Loudwire that this song was hard to finish: "It involved a lot of trial and error and compromising with your bandmates in the process of exploring every path that needed to be taken. I kind of compare it to painting."
I've been fucking with Tool for a few years now. When I first heard this song, I didn't care for it much. When it would come across my random playlist, I would usually skip past it. After reading the lyrics, then watching a lyrics video, it's become a song that when it pops up in my random playlist, I listen to it 2 or 3 times. One of my favorites. It's like several songs all wrapped up in one. This whole Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned compilation could really be an entire Quentin Tarantino movie. All over the place, but when all wrapped up together, yet another Tool masterpiece.
jrsnowden25 lol epic hey. Couldn’t agree more with you. In fact I did already, check out the comment I responded to earlier today when someone said that they think Rosetta Stoned is one of Tools least finest tunes. There almost needs to be a Tool public service announcement, or maybe it’s just the worlds way of saying you’ll get there when you are meant to... but how about hurrying the fuck up will ya some of you! My comment written earlier is below: “Yeah I’ve gotta disagree with you, respectfully of course. For about a year after 10,000 days was first released I never had any particular affinity with Rosetta Stoned, I loved the entire album and this song I found a little discordant in comparison to the rest of the songs on the album until however one day I was listening intently and yeah okay ‘sure’ perhaps it was in ‘some’ form of altered state, but that’s neither here nor there... Anyway all of a sudden a part of the song came on, and I caught a clear glimpse of just a section of the lyrics I previously believed to have been fathomless - (or simply unrecognisable) pierceddddd my soul and blew apart my mind in a way that only very few songs have been able to do before and after this. The long ass point I’m sure I’ve already made pretty clear is that I once like you thought it wasn’t one of their finest. Not just that but sometimes I would skip 3/4’s way through which is almost 10,000 days blasphemy as far as I am concerned. BUT, I would like to suggest you give it another crack, lyrics are a MUST as well as context. Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman) is a pretty vital / important intro to it as well. I eagerly await your future foray into this gem of a tune and hope that you are rewarded with as much magic as I was when it all came together. 🖤💙🖤💙”
Thank you for exploring this music and sharing with others. Your mission is somewhat complete hitting the big awesome rock songs, but there are many more. You are teaching people that don’t know about this stuff, it’s important. Bless, happy holidays and new year, looking forward to new ones. Thanks for everything Preston.
You definitely need to watch a lyric video to fully understand what the story if the song is! Maynard has a way with words but unfortunately they are a little hard to make out what he says on this song. This video also contains the introduction song "Lost Keys."
This is by far my favorite song - I play it everyday as soon as i come home from work - RIGHT HAND TO GOD - i still have trouble counting it - 100% agree with the title of this video -
Hey, man! This was a lot of fun to listen to with you. It's my favorite Tool song. I'd love if you made another video so we could listen to it a second time. Like you said, there's a lot to unpack. It would be fun to see how you like it a second time. Take care!
In my opinion you do the best reaction videos out there, Preston. Especially when you react to Tool. I’ve watched all your Tool reactions and I feel like I’ve entered the rabbit hole for the first time with every one of your reactions. I know a lot of people want you to do Third Eye but I think before you do that song you should bring it back to some old school Tool (Undertow album) especially cause you haven’t really done any songs from that album. I recommend Intolerance. It’s so raw like the rest of that album but it’s one of their most underrated songs imo. Please do Intolerance or 4°. I’ll keep the faith till next time brother. Peace.
Bro, I just have to say I've watched about 20 of your videos back to back. I like to keep my playlists diverse and seeing you listen to bands you've never heard of that I grew up knowing restored a bit of my faith in humanity. Also gained you a sub. Keep em comin man!
as someone who's loved Tool for so many years, i absolutely love seeing you fall in love with Tool as a new fan. 100% every tool song you do should be with lyrics, as maynard is one of the most poetic and personal lyricists i've ever heard. Also the sound quality on this one was laptop sound, whereas a lot of your videos have the CD quality. Never go with laptop sound, it much more enjoyable for us ^_^ cheers bro, ill keep enjoying Tool with you.
"I don't know how I feel about it yet" is exactly the point. So please load the album (ALL OF THEM) onto whatever you stick in your ears on your own time and press play. This was your best reaction. Your real reaction to TOOL like the rest of us was exactly what it should be if you're actually LISTENING to TOOL.
Merry Christmas Preston. We thank you for the gift of this video on Christmas. Wonderful present to wake up to this morning. Yes bruh.....Re-react with lyrics you absolutely need them for this one. my favorite reaction so far
I ain't gonna lie, it took me years to fall in love with this song. It's probably my favorite of theirs now, but it's very difficult to "get" upon the first few listens. A lyrics reaction would be a good idea. You'll be able to grasp the reasoning behind the scattered approach to the music. Because you're basically listening and experiencing an intense drug trip.
"Rosetta Stoned" is a song by the American progressive metal band Tool. ... The name of the song is a reference to the Rosetta Stone. Lyrically, the song deals with a man's encounter with aliens, spiritual realizations and his state of a coma after a DMT trip. The song is written in a stream of consciousness style.
Bruh, you're ready for Third Eye mate. I love your reactions. I was sitting here and at certain parts of the song I was like "oh this part is gonna get him 😂" much love brother
Not sure if you're aware but he does another video where he breaks the song down. Discussing time signature changes and the fact that Danny Carey keeps track with his ear alone.... amazing video. Makes you appreciate the drum cover that much more..
Lyrics bro, lyrics. It helps bring the chaos of this song together.
Yeah, deffenately!
RagingBohab 805 yes do the lyrics
Yes!!!!
The pack has spoken!
Agreed. Looked rather lost and confused his first run thru. Lyrics will crack you up, too
"Out of all the bands you guys put me on, Pink Floyd and Tool are the most detailed"
Fuckin awesome man, I totally agree lol
That's prog rock, baby.
Tool Rush Pink Floyd
They are their own genre. No others can keep up
Preston; “let’s go”
Maynard; “alright then”
haha that part was dope.
😂 I love that Preston thinks he's ready for that shit. 😂
I thought i was the only one who noticed that and died laughing
Forget About It “alrighty”
Maynard; "I'll lead, you follow"
Preston, even as a hardcore tool fan, this song took me a while to really get it and appreciate it. It's complex but when you have listened a couple times to it it really grows on you and in the end you will love every second of it. I've always wondered how do they write stuff like this?! Genius.
Orestes Triskaideka facts.
This and third eye epitomize tool imho. The Tooliest of Tool songs.
Listen to it in the mind of someone who took way too much of a hallucinogenic drug. Beginning of the song Doctor, "tell me all about it."
Alrighty then!
I did hear Adam Jones and Danny get a beat and rhythm and guitar then Maynard comes in after and puts lyrics together... I remember Maynard saying this in a interview. Might be true lol
This song ambushed me when I was having my own bicycle day experience, I will never forget this song's power
Now this is a Christmas present thank you Preston
nice comment
You needed the lyrics for this one
The lyrics are fucking hilarious. This is one you definitely need to have them for.
Yeahhh, I think he should listen to it again with lyrics.
Exactly , he shit the bed .

15/8 accenting every 3rd beat. that’s insane

I still don't know all the lyrics.
If there's one song you need lyrics for it's this one.
Alex Dahl couldn’t agree more! I wrote this comment earlier myself:
I couldn’t love this more!! .... than if you were to have had the lyrics up on screen at the same time. It’s simply a MUST! No negotiation lol. Yes
Alright then, picture this if you will:
10 to 2 AM, X, Yogi DMT, and a box of Krispy Kremes, in my "need to know" pose, just outside of Area 51.
Contemplating the whole "chosen people" thing with just a flaming stealth banana split the sky like one would hope but never really expect to see in a place like this.
Cutting right angle donuts on a dime and stopping right at my Birkenstocks, and me yelping...
Holy fucking shit!
Then the X-Files being, looking like some kind of blue-green Jackie Chan with Isabella Rossellini lips and breath that reeked of vanilla Chig Champa,
Did a slow-mo Matrix descent out of the butt end of the banana vessel and hovered above my bug-eyes, my gaping jaw, and my sweaty L. Ron Hubbard upper lip and all I could think was: "I hope Uncle Martin here doesn't notice that I pissed my fuckin' pants."
So light in his way,
Like an apparition,
He had me crying out,
"Fuck me.
It's gotta be
Deadhead Chemistry.
The blotter got right on top of me.
Got me seein' E-motherfuckin'-T!"
And after calming me down with some orange slices and some fetal spooning, E.T. revealed to me his singular purpose.
He said, "You are the Chosen One, the One who will deliver the message. A message of hope for those who choose to hear it and a warning for those who do not."
Me. The Chosen One?
They chose me!
And I didn't even graduate from fuckin' high school.

Like the time Dave floated away.
See my heart is pounding,
'Cause this shit never happens to me.
Can't breathe, right now!
It was so real.

Will I ever be coming down?
This is so real.
Finally it's my lucky day.
See my heart is racing,
'Cause this shit never happens to me.
Can't breathe, right now!
You believe me, don't you?
Please believe what I just said, see the Dead ain't touring.
And this wasn't all in my head.
See they took me by the hand and invited me right in,
Then they showed me something.
I don't even know where to begin.
Strapped down my bed. Feet cold and eyes red.
I'm out my head. Am I alive, am I dead?
Can't remember what they said.
God damn. Shit the bed!
High... I I I I I... high... I I I I I

Strapped down my bed.
Feet cold and eyes red.

Tool THIRD EYE
That look of pleased confusion. We all wore that expression first time we heard this song.
This is actually one of my favorite songs of theirs. The complexity, lyrics, story...
Tool-The Patient and also their cover of Led Zeppelin-No Quarter
Lol i literally just got thru jamming to both songs. Lol. Tool army know who are soldiers are
Fuck yes! The Patient!!

No Quarter and Salival Pushit are the ones I really wanna see him react to.

Tool - The Patient!

Absolutely love how you looked like you wanted to stop and comment but you couldn’t. That’s what their stuff does, it keeps you interested and enveloped, waiting for what’s next.
And that’s just the music.
If you can find a 40 second musical passage more sonically euphoric than the one @15:45 please share it...
I would love to hear it!
I would say back it up and say 15:20
I'm sure you've heard it already, but Tool - Descending is dope @ 05:50
Godspeed You Black Emperor - Moya
To me
I'd say The Grudge by TOOL is their greatest song and outro in music. Absolutely ruthless perfection
Thanks for the gift for new year's Third Eye.
Lovely Christmas gift for us! Yay!!!! Finally!! Third Eye nextttt
STAR 420 holy shit! I was at that concert! They also played it a few years ago at the mile high music festival
Oh shit! I was at that concert too. So I guess I have seen it more than once. I stand corrected!
:( They went to Europe for the first time in 13 years this summer. Im jealous! :)

Tool - No Quarter(Zep)
A top 3 band of mine doing a cover of a top 3 band of mine.
ROSETTA STONED! One of my all time favorites. Shit the bed
Yeah!
God damn
Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned is the best song on the entire album! Right in Two, Jambi and Wings for Marie/10,000 Days are close behind!
@@leafsfan1728 the entire 10,000 days album is one giant masterpiece. Haha
Thanks tool, ktf, fans, and especially this explanation comment on one of my favs. Thanks
@@UtilemUnus oh, you welcome ahah! I think this song deserves a book of its own
How about we just add Rosetta Stoned as another novel in another Tool album in the Tool Encyclopedias. 👍

absolutely! to be included in the study program. since elementary school 😁😁😁

@@spinosa360 thank you 💜 I do love that song though
This is their most complex song and hardest to play according to Danny (drummer), but yeah you really can’t review any Tool song without doing some research beforehand. It’s also imperative to listen along with lyrics, ESPECIALLY with this one. Once you listen with lyrics, it makes sense why it’s all over the place. This song shows off their genius, tbh. The time signatures are astounding. Be ready for their next album to be indicative to this and wings: complex, chaotic, random and precise. Review it again, hone in on the lyrics and the drums. In fact, lol, review it again tonight while it’s still fresh

This song was one of my favorites when I first started listening to Tool.

Just watched.
Thank you for your reactions, and letting us share the love we have for music. I can't imagine life w/o metal. 🤘🖤🤘🖤🤘
when it comes to Tool, the comment section has always told you that Tool are Masters at making you FEEL in the music what is in the lyrics... i did not realize *you didn't have the lyrics in front of you somewhere* and there is no other way to even begin to grasp this one! so YES PLEASE RE-REACT WITH THE LYRICS for us!! i don't know if you ever did hardcore hallucinogens before Preston, (i never have but i was somehow always surrounded by people on them and learned a lot about them) but the reason the song feels so chaotic is because that is exactly what it is about.... someone Tripping HARD and apparently ending up in a hospital or somewhere that no one could possibly understand such a thing, and him trying to explain it to them...
Yup im down to see your reaction again with the lyrics.
I've seen tool live 3 times and this song was above and beyond their best live performance for me! It was incredible.

The trilogy that is the key to open the secrets of physics, time and space
My comment written earlier is below:
“Yeah I’ve gotta disagree with you, respectfully of course.
🖤💙🖤💙”

Hey, man! This was a lot of fun to listen to with you. It's my favorite Tool song. I'd love if you made another video so we could listen to it a second time. Like you said, there's a lot to unpack. It would be fun to see how you like it a second time. Take care!
Next time you listen to it do it with lyrics
YES I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!!! SO HAPPY!!!
Merry Christmas bro. Thanks for bringing joy to all the people who love to watch you experience new music.
I swear , nobody can't create this song again .
It's not a song, it's a story......
Yes sir! Now we need a full album review of undertow! You are not allowed to talk about the new album until you review undertow! 😂
Merry Christmas Preston! Great reaction. Awesome song.
Merry Christmas Preston. True art makes you FEEL makes you think. Uncomfortable, pleasure , pain. I LOVE TOOL
You should watch A Perfect Circle - Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums
I fucking love that song
@@unowhavethebiggay1430 fuck yeah same
Yes, again with Lyrics PLEASE!
Merry Christmas Preston. We thank you for the gift of this video on Christmas. Wonderful present to wake up to this morning. Yes bruh.....Re-react with lyrics you absolutely need them for this one. my favorite reaction so far
I listen to that song religiously. I'm still always listening for details I miss. A true masterpiece
The first sentence tells me that you just copy/pasted everything.
@@Stonefalconetti it was copied and pasted yes. How does that tell you I paste "everything"? LOL
I love how much you love Tool. It's fun to watch. First time I saw them, 1993 Lollapalooza. Definitely my favorite band of all time
Bruh, you're ready for Third Eye mate. I love your reactions. I was sitting here and at certain parts of the song I was like "oh this part is gonna get him 😂" much love brother
Deff need Lyrics for this one. Pure epicness tho. I see Tool, I click.
Also.. For real. Watch Johnkew do a drumcover this. Seriuosly you'll see the complexity in it first hand.
George Primm Thanx for the tip man, I watched that clip just now. Holy shit!
@@magnuslilja700 you're welcome sir!
I'm a big fan of his, he's incredible!
@@lunar_anchen me too!!!
Not sure if you're aware but he does another video where he breaks the song down. Discussing time signature changes and the fact that Danny Carey keeps track with his ear alone.... amazing video. Makes you appreciate the drum cover that much more..
Nice video and great song. Merry Christmas Preston and everyone else.
I love playing tool on guitar. Handful of songs and you’re entertained for a couple hours
