- So I thought today was going to be an 'easier' kind of day, just finishing up some bits.. but NO, of course absolutely nothing fits and yet again we find ourselves, cutting, fabbing and just generally bodging things together.. but im not bothered, this car needs to be done!
We are finishing off installing the lexan polycarbonate windows on the car by putting the rear screen in, we then need to fit the kevlar roof, fit a dash algonside some other bits and bobs..
were getting there.
This video should be called let’s do some more bodging 😂😂

@@itsleelockwood I admire your work lee to say your on your own you get a lot done mate but you’ll have to redo a lot as you’ll find out when you start using it but keep going you will get there mate Rome wasn’t built in a day
@@Griffsconstruction I fully understand that, right now it’s a paperweight and I’m missing out on so many opportunities and fun days driving. Get it drifting is the main priority and sort out little shit later, that’s been the goal for months now
I get youre wanting this driving asap but surely all the body add ons could have waited and done when you had more time. All the time added to doing the arches, fenders roof etc could have been used to do the tidying up and doing all the main bits to get it on the road. I know its my 5p’s worth but just how i see it.

Why are you rushing things, the back window should have been shaved at the bottom first surly to get it sitting right, the roof could have been awesome but now bodged, the dash 🤦🏻♂️, don’t be afraid to ask for help, if you can’t do something, this was gonna be such a cool build
shame your ruining such a good build with high potential just by cutting corners and rushing
What’s the point in painting the car? If it doesn’t matter and it’s a “drift car” and the rest of it doesn’t matter? Genuinely question, I don’t understand? People say the same thing with “ it’s a track car” which is always an excuse for ‘I don’t want to spend the money on making it right’
it means, I want it to look cool and be fit for purpose, it’s not a show car and I don’t care about small details being perfect
There is a difference between making a “showcar” and taking pride in what you are producing mate. My point is/was why bother painting it if the finish isn’t important you may as well just roller it?
Personally i would have trimmed the bottom centre till you got it to sit right on each lower corner. Then go inside and draw around the window and then add the additional lip depth onto your template line you drew earlier.

I just get the feeling he's in that much of a rush to get it finished that he's not thinking logically which is a shame as this project had the making to be great if done right, but all I see on each video is corners cut and things he's going have to redo at extra expense further down the line instead of doing it the correct way initially.
Would of probably made a cardboard template first then just transferred that to the window...

I dont understand all that extra and you hack it off the top rather than make a template of the car then copy it cut it out and it will fit properly what a lash up haha

I am honestly not sure there is ever a plan. I think its a case of get part, apply garry the ginder at full pelt and tiger seal the shit out of all the things.

Or just use CAD ( Cardboards Aided Design. Both Methods would made that job so much tidier and quicker🤦

Honestly love watching, but what I am seeing with this BMW is killing me and when the videos finish it always plays an older video of you at your best which was having a laugh with Jesse in the evo and just buzzin with cars fella. He should have taken a look at Jay from Driftworks white car (or mine in my videos) and binned that cheap arch kit. I don't get why he bonded that kevlar roof panel on to just cover the sunroof? Oh well, it's wheel PCD adaptors next. Sod going on track with those. He could have just used Z3 trailing arms and hubs. @@harvey1166

Isn't that piece of metal that you made to hold up the dash dangerous? In the case of a crash would that metal piece be a huge hazard to you or the passenger? I might be wrong tho 🤷🏽♂️😅

Im no mechanic, but when you're driving the air will go into the cabin, and it needs to escape. What blows out first the bad back window or the roof?

Probably should have marked the rear window from the inside using the window aperture as the guide.
Looking at the rear window, it seems clear why the bootlid didn't fit 🤔

That window could easily have fitted perfectly all around, even at the bottom. Why did you take off so much at the top? Then left it too short at the bottom 🤔 you should have trimmed the bottom until it fitted the profile of the car, then took less off the top.

Cut all the panelling off the roof up to the joins bro. As long as you don’t cut the pillars strength is maintained. Ideally it should look like a space frame.
Try a company called rayson radiators for your cap, if They don’t have one they will be able to help you go in the right direction

*Plastics 4 Performance do off the shelf poly window kits for everything inc E30's. Did you leave the steel roof panel in? You can get fiberglass sunroof delete panels. You'd have been better off retaining screen rubbers and just fitting the poly windows as if they were the OE glass. I'm not sure the idea of welding a metal bar to point directly back into the cabin was the smartest one though mate. Do these cars not have any regs to adhere too, or scrutineering? Admire the effort tho Lee.*
As an ex Autoglass tech, don’t use them.. for private work they’re way dearer than going to an independent!
Find a local one man band type fitter, they will be miles cheaper. I know somewhere in Norfolk that can do it for you worst case if not 👍
