This vid makes me wanna go shopping 🛍. The parts are small enough to smuggle them into the house without my wife noticing it. Only downside is that my son has a scx24 to. He can keep a secret as long as I put the same parts on his one 😂. this way it really becomes an expensive upgrade 🙈
I'm in the process of modifying a C10 Scx24, and are doing what you said at the end of the video. I don't have the disposal income to spend that kind of money on a car. I've changed the wheels and tyres, knuckles, steering and suspension links, and put an odd set of long travel shocks on it, and the performance difference so far is remarkable. Watching Harley Designs and Scale Builders budget build off was fascinating in what you can do with these little cars, and on a restricted budget. This is at the other end, with the no expense spared approach (I know we're given the Treal parts, but you know what I mean). It all comes down to budget, and what you want to get at the end of the process. But at the end of the day, is the smile at the end of the day bigger if you've spent a fortune, or are still running it stock? For me, it's having fun. If you're not having fun, there's no point. 😎👍🏻
The scx24 should not be ignored because it is small. Even a little tuning on the tire can do rock crawl to a certain extent. Many people seem to buy scx24 because the UA-camr reviews it carefully.👍👍👍
Scx24s are great little crawlers. I have 3 of them and I would gather to say they are the most highly used rc , mainly for the fact I can come home and run on my home made course while watching TV or whenever I have a moment. Pretty good value and fun. Yeah they can get pricey, but that can be said for any rc car when modified with aftermarket parts. And really value when compared to monetary prices , is really only worth what the hobbiest deems worthwhile.
1/24 scale was something I didn't think I would like but after seeing and using my son c10 I went and bought the deadbolt. Very fun little crawlers with loads of upgrades
This is my second scx24. I just bought another one and got got carried away with a few upgrades and soon realized I had over $300 in this little rig but there are still things I want. I feel like I could have better spent the money on a Capra kit or even an RTR gateKeeper to get me started. It’s really cool looking but I feel it’s size really restricts where you can take it. **BEST cheap upgrade was the magnetic body mounts I made.**
That looks fantastic! I always preferred the Chevy C10 SCX24, but yours looks more mean and purposeful than any SCX24 I've seen. You might have changed my mind!
By the time I bought the second set of aluminum links so I could build a long wheelbase, using my aluminum and brass axles, with the brushless motor and my JR steering servos front and rear, it was catching up to my class 3 FrankenTruck as far as costs, but you need little beadlocks and mud slingers, right? Love your show, and as always, have fun.
Crawling hasnt ever really taken my fancy but I saw some 3d printed belly dragging chassis's for these scx24's. They look so cool. The roofline is nearly as low as the top of the tyres. I was very tempted!
@@marcusrcs1885 there's a few you tube videos on portal axels and supposedly someone's comming out with aluminum portal axels , well thats what dude told me who was testing the prototypes.
Absolutely beautiful scx24 brother, I personally love the deadbolt, it was and still is the most capable out of the box, some brass wheel weights and good to go! Great video
Awesome build! I love my scx24 I'm also running treal bead locks and run my tires with no foams. I also found those springs to be to stiff and run the stock springs with a tiny amount of super lube grease in the shocks.
I've done several in that range and up on my channel. They add up quick, especially when you go more scale detail as well. Pricey little buggers, but soo addicting.

I love the SCX24.. Currently building a pretty decent indoor course for it in a spare room. Like the upgrades you've put on it, but not big fan of those huge tires.
Totally agree, all that lovely low weight, then huge tyres to ruin the cog. Maybe that’s a future idea, running different size tyres to see how much more angle you can get. That said those tyres look the business but for a 1/18….
I have 3 scx24's. and..... about $1500 money spent total on them lol. It is easy to do since I bought parts one at a time. Spending that much all at once... I would probably not have.
Nice one Tomley!😆 The upgrades are a little too-much to handle, but... watching my spending in a tight wallet to save.😉 Always on a budget, one at a time.(B+)
How much do you guys think you got into this truck I know they're smaller but they do cross still especially when you're putting all tresl parts on there but I got to say their stuff is amazing I want their axle housing but I would like it to be for 4 mm extra on each side and not using a spacer kit but built into the axle housing
I have spent about 600 on mine and almost took the fun out of it . It goes anywhere I point it it just goes it’s almost unstoppable. Building a orlandoo for table crawling
Was just thinking you should have weighed the front and rear with the stock wheel as well as the the new rims and tires will also add to the weight.. just a thought
there's absolutely no way the comparison is needed. with what he put on it's now fine tuning and it's a beast. low center of gravity, more reliable torque ( with that brushless system it's so smooth and strong you can slow crawl over most obstacles with throttle trim turned up a bit and just work the steering wheel 😂) better tires for grip, the high clearance links provide their own invaluable asset to the experience and last but not least the extra weight and a dummy behind "the wheel" will break lots of body pieces from stupid heights from being overly confident lol but really there's a night and day difference.
