7:22 hi Matt build looks fantastic, my only concern is the size of those rivet heads are very small against the arches. I think in quicker time than you might think they will rip through under load from bouncing down the road etc. the bolt you used on the back of the front arches I think would work better for spreading the load all around the arch!
Hey Matt, great video. Just thinking about your clutch. When the clutch assy is bolted together on a dummy primary gear on the bench you can check the angle of the spring on the pressure plate. It should be dead flat. If its not, you can machine the top surfaces of the.3 legs on the backing plate to make this correct. This will give you the correct over centre feeling a clutch should have as you push the pedal to the floor.
Hi Paul, I bought a complete lightened flywheel and race clutch assembly from Med so I'd like to think that was checked there. Worth checking though. Cheers
I've had expensive booths ... Burntwood etc for years . I saw guys in Thailand painting top end restos VW campers , Porsches etc in plastic sheeted tents ... The finish was astonishing. Same with guns ... My old man could lay down paint out of anything even single stage metallics like glass . Never use a polisher only on blends .
Looking really good Matt, I wonder though if you might have the front brake disks on the wrong sides? I think they are supposed to work with the holes and grooves facing the other direction? Could be I'm wrong - I'm certainly not an expert.
@@Urchfab Matt, if you look at AP race discs, the grooves run the way you have yours set. Their discs have directional cooling vanes, but the discs you have won't. The grooves running the way you have them clear the "fire band " better, trapped hot gas between the pad and disc.
That's such a pretty car man. I'm currently figuring out my own Mini build on my channel, would love it if you let me know what you think. I definitely need to book into one of your courses. Thanks for all the great content. 💯
What about changing the master cylinder size to get a lighter clutch pedal?? I’m sure you could adjust the pedal pivot point too to give you a similar amount of travel at the slave.
Haha yes the clutch will be heavy with the comp. springs. I see you have not installed the stop nuts on the release bearing shatft. There are different opinions about that topic. The stop nuts are supposed to not "over press" the diahragm clutch. So you invert the spring the other way around. I have never heard of anybody actually doing that. but it sort of makes sense when you think about it.
I think a diffrent bore m/ cylinder could improve it the stop nuts prevent the clutch going to far and wearing the crank thrust washers and wrecking the engine block
Pardon my ignorance , but if those discs are sided I think they maybe fitted on the wrong side of the car, due to the spiral going in and and not out in direction of rotation?
Car is lookin' KILLA. I really like watching your fabrication and Racing on track stuff. The return spring on the clutch is way too heavy, most of your clutch feel is the resistance. Give it a thought.
Dont mean to piss on your fire. But think you will struggle with intake temperatures. Have a look at the curley duct. Your reservoirs maybe in the way though. Looking good tho!
May have been answered somewhere but I cant find it - What is that thin plastic lip you use on the arch? is there a link to where i can find it? Thanks, looks clean!
Are those metro drive flanges? if you’d had used minisport discs they fit with standard mini flanges, bit easier to replace in a hurry. Also, do you know to trim the edges of the pad backing plates for minisport 4pots?

The arch fitment and that engine bay are works of art!

I agree, I will swap them out for some large head rivets at some point. Cheers
Great craftmanship, I've really enjoyed the Mini sereis
Looks great Matt, especially nose to nose with the Mushy Pea.
You'll probably be more cautious with your overtakes now you sprayed the arches lol 👍
Brilliant video Matt, the mini sure does look great, total credit to you! Seeing them both together is like two peas in a pod. 😊
Wow, these arches sit beautifully. Love it!
Cheers
It looks great. The colour is so good, it really suits the design of the cars. Can't wait to hear it ripping up the lane. 😊👍
Me too. Cheers
This Mini is superb, what a wonderful job you've done.

Oh, great choice Matt. MED sell great products.
@@Urchfabwill still need optimising though mate, definitely worth looking into, better holding force and you’ll have a lighter pedal
That looks like fun

Looks incredible! No clear coat with this paint method?
Thanks, no its a direct gloss paint.

I’ve swapped to a smaller one, much better, still heavy but manageable.
Das Ergebnis ist wirklich absolut Spitze geworden 👍
Die Farbe steht dem Mini richtig gut!
Darf man fragen wie der Farbcode ist?

Nice job. Looks really good.
What are the rear brakes ? Are they S/GT drums ?
Sounds like you could do with a servo for the clutch :)
Minifin drums with the fins machined off.
@@Urchfab - That explains why they look different. What is the reason for machining off the fins ?
Great work. Will you be campaining the 2025 season?
Thanks and yes I will!

Pretty sure they're mini flanges, I've got a few different ones here. Which bit of the pad do you mean bud?
Big moment she out in daylight :)
So Sweet those peas are far from mushy.
Matt, would you mind sharing where you got the clear arch trim? The black stuff on mine has never fit properly. That stuff looks like good.
