This Simple Trick Tells You When To Change Chords
Seems like for those down strums you emphasis more on the last one?
An open F cord does exist!
Could you please do a video on family of chords like A, AM, Am7 etc as I would like to get used to trying different shapes of the same family. Also explain why they are Am7 etc, thank you so much 😊
Ok i can get this. But. How does it help me play a song say im playing a gcd em song how does this help move up the neck with these cords to play the song ? Something im not getting?
Thanks very much🥹🙏🎸
Thanks for sharing this!
Happy you liked it!
Awesome video. Thanks for making it.
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching!
That is a beautiful Gibson ,friend 🎉
Yes!!! Plays awesome too. Fitted 11's to it and I love it!
Finally, I'm old, Trying to absorb as much as I can as I wait for my first guitar to arrive. You're the only person that has made any sense. Much thanks...
And I ordered the book...
Congrats on your first guitar!!!!
As a followup question: if I hear a song that's say, B, F#, E...what is the key? Or F, C, Bb...what is the key? Is there an easy way to quickly figure this out?
Great question. Many times, the first chord is the key. But not always. Depends on where the songs want to resolve to. You can think of the key of a song as home base.
@@LearningGuitarSecrets Thank you
I don’t think I realized that all the songs that are topping charts are like the easiest things ever, super basic chords and the most basic strumming pattern ever
😃
Does that same shape work for A major, and would start position be the same as A minor?
If you want to play Major, just move the minor scale shape 3 frets lower in pitch. The notes are not the same, though. But the shape of the scale is.
Brilliant. Thanks for your reply. Really enjoying your teaching 👏👏
Awesome exploration. Thank you for sharing your video ❤❤
Happy you liked it, Julio!!!
The way you explained that was so simple! Thank you and subscribed 😊
I appreciate your support, Alan!!!

How do I know though in which key I am playing, cause u just said, okay we’re playing in the key of A. Is there a rule e.g. always upper note of the left side of the house ? Thanks so much !
Awesome thank you
WOW 🤩 very informative…😊…and simple, easy to follow. Thank you 🙏
Damn where where you 35 years ago during my basics to Guitar class...
Good stuff. Thanks!
Man l had learned from you in 3 videos more than the last 4 years of youtube videos l had watched. l think l know why, you get to right to what you are teaching rather than showing us how good you are your skill etc. You teach! The other guys teach a lil bit but then try to impress us dummies with what they know or their skill. Keep up the GREAT work and thank you so much! 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you!!! Your channel by far the BEST in explaining to me a beginner and man that you peel off the onion and now it makes so much sense and l now understand!!! 🙏🙏🙏

Wow!! Awesome info and great explanation. And best of all it shows how the Circle of Fifths can serve a very practical meaningful purpose. Thanks for sharing this info with us.
Great lesson, thanks for sharing
Absolutely love this. Very helpful for me as I’m learning chords at the moment.
Get you some paper draw the fret board just the frist 12 frets and then put the notes on each fret no sharps or flats you will have a light bulb moment 🎉
Awesome Den. I‘’be watches a few different videos and now have a pretty good understanding of the CO5ths THANK YOU.
I kinda focus on the root note. E and G shapes have root on E string... A and C have root on A string: one is "root forward", one is "root backward" shape respectively. And to fill the gap there's an "odd one out" of root on D string forward... (D string backwards is just an E shape). Step 2 you can relate the same to the scale shapes: they all have the same names (CAGED.. or 12345 whatever you wanna use) but the shapes are the same/related. Step 3 is learning there's all sorts of other shapes, like shell voicings, or weird scales or arpegios that cover 15 frets or whatever... There's no rules. But CAGED gives a really solid back bone for all the other stuff and it never becomes NOT useful... And those shapes are usually the most useful shapes you're looking for. It's not really an essential rule of the universe but it's a very useful tool. In some ways it would've been better if people named the chord shapes out of their literal shape so people didn't confuse shape names with notes... But i guess it helps to remember which shape is which as we all start by learning these chord shapes
Nice break-down. How about the minor chords? If we look at the Roman functions, CAGED is 1-6-5-3-2. Functions 1, 4 and 5 are Perfect (not much need for minors), and it happens that shapes A, E and D have easy minors, which can also be borrowed for Cm, Fm, Gm up/down a couple of frets. Diminished 7 is an exercise for the reader :) (Bdim is Am with dim 4th string up 2 frets) Fun fact: CAGED is a mini circle of relative Maj->Min (within half-step): C-a, A-f#, G-e, E-c#, D-b.
Great lesson, thank you!
That also works the same way with the five major scales of those chords, learn the five scale shapes then join them together using the CAGED system.
Yes💪
