Thank you so much. I'm a 75 year old man siting in the Thai jungle watching my old turf on a computer screen. I am an artist and I have many fond memories of Laguna Beach and the art scene in the 60s. My first memories of it were Sunday rides n the family car in the 50's and waving to the Greeter. It's changed a lot but it's still shines like a diamond. Nice work.

      True
I left the USA to study in Vienna for 2 years in the early 60’s. The Brits we’re discovering this music and never looked back.
James Baldwin often came to Vienna when he was living in Paris. I knew 😢those moments with him at our usual cafe were special. Later in the 60’s I witnessed more fine blues moments when working at the Fillmore West. Bill always packed the mid week with this blues greats.
🪢 If one could pause from being overwhelmed by the political dynamics of neighborhoods like Hunter’s Point and what remained of the Fillmore after Urban Renewal, San Francisco could be a jewel. I taught in those neighborhoods and had to draw on my exposure to the darker side of life as a child growing up in New York City.
🪬…. None of us expected to survive into the eve of 2033, which my 78th birthday in sight. We never anticipated fake news outside of Orwell’s 1984… which seemed light years away. And here we are…. the naive dreams of “integration” and ban the Bomb being bludgeoned by mass shootings and a resurgence Russian Imperialism. As that sophomoric folk song Blow’in in the Wind cried… when will we ever learn?
⛩🔥⛩ I cope by Listening to this music, which offer respite and renews the soul for the next round 🗿🗿of absurdity !

I caught the end of this action in the mid 70s in a little bar on 15th St. off of Irving Place in New York City couldn't hold 100 people, all of them showed up to play big Joe Williams, big Joe Turner., Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Lightnin' Hopkins Sonny boy Williamson, and Buster Poindexter!

Sonnyboy would play those harps that are an octave lower than are usually played. That’s how he gets those raspy low notes. It takes so much breath to affect. That’s where his hidden breathing puts him a big cut above other players. He probably smoked Lucky’s Strikes because “they don’t get your wind.” 😅

I guess everything is irony...ie there is no irony. Blues isn't music. It is coping. It is survival. And so, you wind up on the front line of a battle that is three feet in front of the stage. Don't mistake the something more for the something better. This is merely authenticity. As such, Blues is gimmick free. Thank Jim Crow for the suits. This isn't an attempt to entertain. It is survival. But, if there must be a gimmick, then on this stage, the gimmick is 100% Authenticity. 9 sting guitar! A drapery rope for a guitar strap. None of it matters. These are the forces of Nature and their effects upon ecosystems in general. Blues is instinct...the result is sincerity!

The 60's UK love affair with black blues musicians was special time. They were all seasoned acts in a very different enviroment in which they had developed. We supported Sonny Boy once, just before he died. Such a humble guy. To us teenagers he was our grandfathers' age, we had never worked with someone so old. But half a bottle of scotch and a handfull of pills and he was ready for his second act... and unlike so many acts, what you heard on stage was just as good if not better than the recording.
