This is an example of some of the very best blues that has ever been played! Bob Margolin has often caused me some curiosity and lots of interest!...............his ability is without question very very good. Many of his solos are awe-inspiring, and created in an original and unique way. I'm sure that he had a good idea of what it meant to be a part of the Muddy Waters band. He looks rather smug, and I reckon that he was rather chuffed as well. I am still in love with Muddy's slide guitar - "vicious" and "mean".
Bob Margolin always seemed more ego than talent. He's OK, but no Anson Funderburgh or Ronnie Earl. Margolin certainly milked his time with Muddy for the next forty years playing on his own.
9/19/2021 I saw Muddy Waters in Cleveland, Ohio when he opened for the Allman Bros. Band, touring the "Brothers and Sisters Album. On that very day a law went into effect making having up to 3 OZ. of weed a misdemeanor, with a 100 dollar fine, The Concert goers were stoned by the time Muddy took the stage. Now, everyone knows that Cleveland was a big music town, so when Muddy finished his first tune the crowd went wild. Muddy, still holding the microphone, turned to his band and said; "These cats are digging us, lets give them a show." Muddy Waters nearly up staged the Brothers that night, and will be a memory that still lives in the soul of this 74 year old man.
