If you’re doing the Jordan Peele movies, please do Nope next. I’m still tryna understand the full implications of that movie until this day. That was definitely the best Jordan has made so far.
I really hope you do a deep dive on Nope and Us
It’s pronounced “bes - poke” not “be - spoke”
Those shades looked like they were 10 bucks
dang - the “random asian guy” comment 15:49 kinda stings esp in an analysis of a film about race…as if asian men are just set dressing and not even of any narrative or contextual consequence & kinda just brushed off as a *fun* quip by erik 😓
The moment when Chris goes upstairs to get away from the party and all conversation abruptly ceases as all of the guests look up and listen to his footsteps is one of the all-time creepiest moments in horror cinema. Literally felt like I had icy water trickling down my arms.
You put a feeling I’ve had for years into words 😳 I was just sitting there like “what and why and why did this make me feel unnerved”
Nah
Its sooo good.
…fo real
It’s absolutely insane the amount of detail and effort Peele puts into his films the passion is 100% there
He’s one of our best working directors right now!
I thought he was just some guy who do comedic sketch😆
100,0000% AGREE!
How many times is the movie gonna play should have just called it B”Ckind" rewind
That man is a genius.
I saw this in the theater. The small local theater in my neighborhood. The collective sigh of relief everyone, including me, felt when Rod got out of the cop car was palpable.
Yay I've been waiting for this break down for ages, Jordan Peele is literally my favourite director, this man truly knows how to do easter eggs, not just random comic book numbers
Agreed! IMO Easter Eggs should illuminate something else about the movie we’re currently inside of, not make you think about some other movie or comicbook.
Reminds me if everything Voss does, too!
Jordan Peele is very intelligent. and is really shining more and more with the older he gets. I loved him since Key and Peele. I didn't watch much of Madtv. and I love the way he portrays Rod Sterling in the new Twilight Zone
Love him and M. Night Shyamalan. Both monitors.
The Swahili song detail was very eerie. This was my favorite breakdown of the channel so far ❤ had to watch again
Its so scary but sooo good. He picks great eerie songs that you never thought to be creepy but when paired with his movies they become soo creepy.
I'm glad we got the ending we did. I think seeing Chris in prison would have made watching it more than once so devastating.
that, and the idea it's predicated upon is false
@@wittysass3812no its not "false".
I had never seen Get Out, I thought it wouldn't be my kind of film but I watched it last night because this Deep Dive came out. So glad I did, it was brilliant and I'll be checking out the rest of Jordan Peele's work. I'm not much of a horror fan but this struck me as more like Black Mirror than full on horror. Of course that could just be because of Daniel Kaluuya..
I am with you. I've never liked Horror movies, but I HAD to support Jordan Peele when *Get Out* first debut in theaters. Since then, I've discovered I STILL don't like horror movies, but LOVE all of Jordan Peele's films. They are, as you said, somewhat like *Black Mirror* and the subject matter stays with you. I very highly recommend watching *US* and *NOPE.*
He’s one of the best directors working today.
The scariest thing in this movie was Rose eating cereal separate from the milk 😂😂
Jordan Peele is a freakin' genius. Get Out and NOPE were among the very best movies I've ever seen. I haven't seen Us, because it looks scarier that I could handle.
US won’t scare you. If Get Out didn’t make you uncomfortable (and detest a few people you know) then US will be a cake walk.
U hit it right on the head. I’m still trying to figure out US but yes Get Out & Nope is masterpieces
Us is hardly scary, but is a little gorish
you need to watch more film
Best ever feature film by a first time director. I agree 100%, this movie is a masterpiece
My favourite Jordan Peele movie is Us. That movie got me so wound up I literally couldn’t get the ending out of my head. I like how he mixes what’s going on in the world with what could be going on in a deeper dive
Erik you are a brother from another mother. Thanks for respectfully covering an awesome movie!
GET OUT is such a phenomenal film, even taken at various levels. I mean, just as a basic horror movie it's ace, as a horror with a story to tell as an (overt) allegory for racism it excels, and the acting is totally amazing throughout.
Really gave off the vibes for Jordan Peele that James Cameron had after his first time (properly) in the director's chair telling his story his way. Peele has backed that up with each of his subsequent films (just like Cameron did) and each of his future films are automatically going to be considered "must watch" movies.
I enjoy these deeper analysis of films that further deepens my appreciation for them 👏 👏 👏
Again, you prove why you are one of my favorite UA-cam channels, always on point and culturally aware!
He has an earnestness about himself that is very appealing given the cynical age we live in.
The flash scene will forever be my favorite, especially the first time I watched it. It freaked me out so much I had no idea what was happening.
She may have not touched anything in Chris’s apartment but with all of that hair she has there would have been a lot of random strands left all over.
Good forensic investigation skills!
I literally just watched this for the first time the other day - I love Jordan Peele!
God to be able to go back and watch this movie for the first time!
I would have watched this movie for a third time if I could.@@DeepDiveNR
I seriously hope this means you are doing Nope soon! It's definitely in my top 5 movies of all time and I've always wanted New Rockstars or Dead Meat to break it down. Considering Jaws is one of your favorite too, I'm expecting it to be a good one!
Nope is a phenomenal movie. I've watched it three times. Definitely will watch it many more times.
I agree, I love *NOPE* and have watched it on amazon prime probably around 15 times. I see something new each time and it continuously blows my mind!
That movie, just like this one SUX!!!!
Wonderful job as always Eric & the deep dive team!!! I would love to see a parasite breakdown, no other ‘breakdown’ video will do that film justice - like what y’all would.
Thank you for this deep dive. I have lived moments too similar to the movie to be comfortable watching it myself. I do understand why people love it tho. Peele is making great things happen with well thought out movies.
Can't get enough of these deep dives. Keep em coming!!!
This was an excellent Deep Dive, and I hope you also do *US* and *NOPE!* Maybe a Deep Dive on the WAY in which Jordan Peele presents his genius on film? Anyhoo, my favorite moment in this entire film is once Chris is safely in Rod's TSA car. Rod opens his mouth, closes it, opens it again and says, *"I mean, I told you not to go in that house."* And then raises his hands like "That's all I'm gonna say!" I crack up every time I think about it, and I've even said it randomly to my kids. 😅😅😆😂🤣🤣😁
I am such a huge fan of film analyses and breakdowns and all that good stuff; this was such a great video to watch, I enjoyed every minute! *chef's kiss*
Loving this channel so much deep breakdowns like this were always my favorite newrockstars videos👌🏽👌🏽
Wow. this was great! Thank you. I love this movie and think it's the best of its kind since rosemary's baby. I know get out really well, but you pointed out a number of things i never noticed or didn't put together. Great vid!
The brother also mentions chess because it's black vs white and thinking 3 or 4 moves ahead because they're planning moves ahead
If anybody has been in a relationship where someone is lying to you this movie hits home
Would LOVE to see you breakdown The Accountant! It’s a very random movie from the others you’ve put out, but think it would be great to dive into and hemp a lot of people without knowing it! Always saw talks of a sequel and hoping that it does come around eventually!
Great as always. Any chance you will do a deep dive of arrival, would love to watch that
Just started watching your channel, thank you for the great content!
Your videos are always top notch.
Holy cow I’ve watched this movie every year since it came out. I never realized that Andre was talking to Rose at the start of the movie. Thanks Deep Dive!!
Been waitin for this one!
This was a very detailed breakdown. Probably the best I've seen on UA-cam.
ONE of my favorite films, hands down. You can always find something new, and the performances are top notch.
Looking forward to more Jordan Peele Deep Dives!
Nicely done. 👏🏾
Great video as always, Erik! With all of these details, I was wondering if the reflection in Andre's eyes right after the camera flash held a meaningful scene. It looks like a person or two in front of a bright window or door. It is hard to tell whether it is just the filming crew and the scene lighting, or if something special was CGI-ed there.
Phenomenal video, might have to watch it again later today
Some thing I’ve noticed from get out is that roses bangs act as a shield. She has bangs when she’s manipulating and then loses then when she’s found out, I feel like that’s interesting even if it wasn’t meant to be just a way to hide who she really is.
Fun fact: the sound of the deer dying is actually voiced by Jordan Peele
One thing you failed to mention was that ironically Being John Malkovich was an unofficial prequel to Get Out due to Catherine Keener. That’s all I’ll say cause not a lot of people saw that movie. It’s excellent by the way.
Thank you so much Mr Voss for doing what you do very much appreciated 🙏 I love This movie keep the videos coming
thanks for all the videos this one was great
just wondering since chrismas is coming what movie are we going to expect
Not saying I didn't think you'd nail this dive, I'm just so proud that you saw what I did! ❤
Thank you!
really killed this breakdown, such an amazing film. love it
Yesssss, Alex!!! You get it! Excellent breakdown!
Very Bold that YOU chose to do THIS deep dive🙃
Bravo Eric, another gem. Yea this is one of my favorite movies too. Jordan is brilliant.
BRILLIANTLY reviewed!! 🏆
Absolutely love this movie and all the connections to the Shining. Which I’d love to see in a deep dive one day
Awesome breakdown!!
Would love it if you did a deep dive of the movie Us by Jordan Peele as well! (Not sure if did already) ☺️
This was absolutely amazing
i loved this one erik!
Great analysis! Only detail I'd add would be the connection between the last name Armitage and Andrew Jackson's plantation called Hermitage
Forget about all the cool stuff and horrors of this movie. My fav line is: "Cause I am T-S-mother f#$%in-A. We handle sh#%!" 😂
Great analysis btw.❤
Hey Erik, great job, I live your work!
I would love to hear more about "V for vendetta" if you're looking for another movie to analyse
A great film. Great deep dive.. keep New Rockin’ man 👏👏
Probably my most favorite movie of the last 10+ years! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
This is one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time. Also, I’ve watched this movie more times than I can count and have pages of things I’ve noticed but never noticed that “Chris is dead” poster behind him … wow. Good stuff!
Peele is such a good comedian, can’t believe he’d be able to make a movie like this!
He must have an high iq!
1:23 I think about this scene every time I hear the word “Suburb”. Moreover, I repeat after the person who said it in a way that’s similar to this.
Great synopsis- absolutely loved the movie as well! *Cough cough* FILM! Jordan Peele did such a great job on his first film - also looking forward to watching his next films!
I can't wait to see what Jordan Peele has up his sleeve. You're a good director. I love to see your movies more.
I'd like to point out that the 'Sunken Place' is now a course that is taught at UCLA by professor Tananarive Due.
Always enjoy the Deep Dive Videos! This movie is so great! 👍
I feel like a complete analysis of Day of the Dead would be amazing! That movie has sooooo much in it and behind it!
Finally watched this movie and it did not disappoint!!
Deep Dive...indeed. Bravo!!
Thank you so much for this channel Erik it’s quickly became my favourite on UA-cam ❤️
Thank you!
I like how Jordan peele adds rabbits just so he can actually be scared while watching his movies
great job eric!
Peele is amazing! I actually like Nope even better so can't wait for that deep dive.
I don’t know if you guys only do movies on this channel or if you even care about this request but I’d love to see cinematic breakdown of lessons in chemistry. At least the first episode because i thought it was shot really well and I’d love to see your observations 🙏🏾
Jordan Peel useing the monkey paw as his logo is based off the story "The Monkey Paw" a story where you can interpret what happened at the end just like in some of his movies
Wow i love this sooooo good!
You’re dope man “SUBSCRIBED❗️”
I literally experienced my own sunken place in 8th grade. I was resting my head on a table after finishing a test and I see myself in a dark purple void floating where I try to scream but I can’t hear myself and I felt my body trying to move but couldn’t. Then I woke up frightened and everyone was looking at me. Other than that I loved the message and symbolism behind this film.
incredibly interesting
The cereal theory is insane and I can’t believe I’ve never heard it.
And at the end Chris left his girlfriend bleeding out in the cold kind of like his mom's fate in the beginning of the movie.
Where she belonged. It was a fitting end, for this viewer. I love movies where the clearly delineated bad guy/gal gets their due.
I think the cereal is a bit of a stretch but I really like the idea. Popcorn came to mind.
I agree, the strength of this movie will have me watching Peele for years to come.
This movie was only okay the first time I saw it but the more its analyzed the better it gets.
I would love to see a deep dive of Lovecraft Country.
😅 blud just violated my first language 🇰🇪. 5:05 Huge fan of your work Erick
I was waiting to hear him pronounce it, with belated breath. Woi 🙆🏾♀️
I loved this movie so much!! Jordan was a sublime genius with this one.
hmm, alot of the connections you made to rosemary's baby i made to wicker man....interesting. And i also thought the intro with the blue text was similar to the pink in rosemarys baby lol!
weird.
You are amazing at what you do. Great video!
You definitely made some reaches in this video
In other words Jordan Peele is a horror movie genius
The ironic part is these instances happen on a daily basis. The term is Afro Surrealism. When a certain demographic of people create a situation and then blame you for it, and you ask yourself how is this even right, it is a relief Jordan Peele is shedding light on the subject.
Does this mean we are getting Deep Dive for Us and Nope? I'm in.
Yeah, Deep Dive! Do some Us and Nope videos! Also, you guys fuckin' rock! 🤘💯
Love from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤
Do your thing, Erik Voss. I'm a huge fan.
Now I want to watch this movie again !
6 years later. Still great
i'd love a deep dive on Bo Burnham's "Inside" special
