Learning to live with scars is challenging. I’m filled and covered with them. Depression and chronic illness (surgical scars). I have covered my scars, both physical and emotional with Tattoos. I took back my body and my emotions. They remind me who I am, and tell others that are interested who I am. I love when people ask the story of my ink, and I love hearing other’s story of their ink.

Omg that's is such a beautiful song!! I am so glad to have been introduced to godsmacks music as music is an outlet for me in so many ways, I seem to connect with Sully and Shannon the most with my own story. You hear so many stories about rockstars and their fall down a spiral staircase. Godsmack's story and music is so inspirational in terms of mental health because they have been there, done that and, bought the tee shirt and are not afraid to extend a hand to help lift you up. Sully and the boys give so much time with under privileged children with music programs and, the scars foundation, among many other ways to help. Sully has a song called a different kind of tears. I lost my brother to a drug overdose on 6/21/19. I heard that song for the first time last night. I do not know what it feels like to lose a child and I hope and pray that I never find out. I do know what its like to lose a brother. That night my wirld turned upside down and never turned right again for me in terms of my mental health. So coming across this song last night, feeling down in the mouth, if you will, I swear that was my brothers way of saying Hey Dawn come on now I am all better now. I want you to be happy for me. Although I am very saddened that i will never see him again or hear his voice or his silly quirky laugh of his, i find comfort in knowing he is not suffering anymore. This song shows that there is help for people out there and people and that people do care. Thank you for listening!!
      Dawn

@@SunsetVR_GTAG I'm sorry to hear about your loss and implications thereafter. Be strong for you and your family. It's all we can do. I've deal with awful anxiety, but music and the community you surround yourself with will always bring you back. I had a string of loss that devoured my soul, oddly enough starting in 2019. Another amazing video Amanda thank you. Absolutely lovely song. One of Godsmacks best. I used to be ashamed of my scars but there's nothing you can do about it. We all have a past, you can just see mine. I have learnt to live with them. Just annoying how some people feel the need to point them out. Remember in my old work, I got a complaint put in about my arm because I had my sleeves up. Thankfully my team leader was sensitive as to what they were and just told me to ignore them! Most awkward time was when my son asked what they were 😬 hope everyone is doing well.

That’s when I watch reaction videos (starting with yours). I just saw the video Christmas Truce by Sabaton. Please watch if you haven’t already. It’s a true story about German soldiers and their British and French enemies during WW1 who left their trenches on Christmas Day in 1914 to meet, exchange gifts, etc. Then they each went back to fighting the next day or so rather than facing a Court Martial for treason. BTW, nice nails.

I believe there is a song out there that fits almost every moment in a person's life. This Godsmack song is one of them on a literal sense along with the emotions conjured up by the music itself....this one, and Sully's solo song "Until Then" (as I've deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan several times). Though I have never been in the darkest places one can go I don't judge those who do, especially when they can recover. I've not seen in any comment anywhere on your channel the suggestion for the song "The Pass" by Rush. Their bassist, Geddy Lee, once remarked that it's one of their favorites. I think you'd find it very poignant, relative, and in a way, pretty cathartic. I really do urge you to take a view/listen. I'd love to see your reaction to the original video (if not, then at least a lyric video).
UPDATE: When I wrote the above comment I was at work at a place once known as Mesopotamia. I wasn't able to share the link to "The Pass" because for some reason it wasn't available in this country. Since then I've gotten a VPN and can now share the link. The video is the official one but without lyrics but they should be understandable. I urge you to check out this version above all due to the visuals that coincide with the lyrics.

Seeing this title, I think you need to react to Scars by Papa Roach, the perfect song to describe how a deeply emotional person deals with romantic relationships that go wrong. I tear my heart open, I sew myself shut and my weakness is that I care too much. And my scars remind me that the past is real. I tear myself open just to feel. That is all that needs to be said. You need to hear this song.

Hey, it's me again. I've had this video on my watch later for a while since I commented on the Fade to Black video because I've been busy with school. Godsmack is one of the rock and metal bands that I was raised listening to and I remember the first time I heard this song, sometime during November 2022, I had to close the game that I was playing to cry. The quote from Sully Erna (Godsmack's frontman) before the song says everything. A lot of what you said in this video are echoes of what I felt the first time I heard the song because my mental health has always been a thing that I've struggled to talk about, especially when it's with someone I actually know. I feel like the world needs more people like you who are willing to spend the time to make content like this to break the barriers of mental health.

I've just subscribed and about to go through your reactions but I do have to say...this is the first time someone else's reaction felt the same as mine.

My 6yo son was born with a physical disability, causing him to have to use crutches and a walker. He has many scars from multiple surgeries. My greatest fear is others making him feel shame and feeling like he's not "one of them". We've always treated it like it's not a problem and if you talked to him, you wouldn't even know that he's aware of the situation or that he knows something is wrong. The daily tasks are exhausting at times, but we have always accepted it as a challenge that we have been given and will always fight to make the best of it. Acceptance and positivity are the most important driving forces that have propelled us through these challenges. Thank you for this video =)

This song for me is representative of giving pieces of myself to someone who is also broken, and my unwillingness to stop giving, even though I myself may run out of pieces...
I also highly recommend Fixxxer by Metallica, there is a strength in the sadness of that song. I have "Fixxxer" tattooed on my arm because of how the story aligns with me life and what it means to me.

    Hi Amanda.
Ive commented on your channel before and happened to share a little personal info. Firstly I happen to love this song. Sadly I have physical scars and lots of psychological scars as well. I call them my war wounds. As I've mentioned in my very first comment on your channel I work in the mental health field and as im sure many will agree I find my past experiences and my personal scars a valuable way to connect with the clients and people I try helping. I mean its difficult for a person to understand unless you too have gone through the same similar experiences. I tend to say, how can I tell you about addiction unless I once was an addict. Love your channel Amanda and I just subsribed too. Many blessings Amanda....

Thank you for taking the time to talk about your past addiction and depression. It helps those who can't see the light through the fog of depression. Many don't understand just how easy it is to get caught in the death grips of it. The cyclical nature and self-destruction is not always physically observable. Sadly it seems to be a taboo in our culture when the topic is brought up. You get look down upon, or feel you are being held in a lower regard than you once were just by the stigma attached. People also fail to realize that the two evils go hand-in-hand at equally compounding the nail into the proverbial coffin. These 2 evils know no limit. It doesn't care how much money you have, it doesn't care what gender you are, it doesn't care what race you are, it doesn't care what age you are, it is an inescapable human condition that too many people trip and never rebound from their fall from grace.

For almost 30 years I have lost any best friend I had. One of them took off with my wife. I am now a recluse, locked in a world of utter solitude. I have acquaintances at work, and some that I might consider friends, but in the end I am alone. This is a huge shift from when I was in my 20's. I used to be social. I don't think that will ever happen again.

Have you heard of kintsukuroi? It’s the Japanese art of taking broken pottery and repairing it with gold or silver. The idea is that an object, human in particular, can be more beautiful for having been damaged and then repaired. We are not the sum of our failures. We are more beautiful for having passed through the fire, the pain, and pushing through to live, fight, and love again. Thank you for another wonderful video and glimpse into your amazing self.

Tonight I went searching UA-cam for reactions to this song and two others. Little bit about me... I'm 65, a dad, a grandpa, a veteran, in the survivor of childhood abuse. Through years and years and years of counseling decades worth I learned what answers to give in order to get a diagnosis of depression or anxiety... I did that because I lived in fear of that four letter diagnosis. 2 years ago I met the best counselor that I've ever had. I poured it all out on the table session after session. And I finally got that stigmatizing four letter diagnosis of PTSD. Through really great counseling some good medications and EMDR therapy... If I look far enough down the tracks I can see a light at the end of that tunnel. This particular song touches me because it's the song that finally made me realize I'm not on this journey alone. Many of us are broken and battered and looking for healing. And by leaning on each other we can get through it. I like your reaction the best out of all the ones I've watched tonight. I think the reason for that is...we feel it in a very similar way. I'm brand new to your channel but after seeing your reaction I had to subscribe. The other two songs that I went looking for reactions to are The sound of silence by Disturbed, and what I like to refer to as my PTSD fight song which is monsters by Shinedown. It would be awesome to see you do reactions to them. But even if you don't do a reaction to them take a listen they're worth the time. God bless and keep fighting the good fight

"One Rainy Day" is another really beautiful Godsmack song you might like. The first 3 Godsmack albums were always my favorite, because Sully's voice still had that intense growl and strength in it, and I learned how to do proper Metal Yells and Growls from listening to the first three albums.
