It's a move that many saw coming after what was viewed as an unacceptable end result in 2024 considering what the program accomplished the year prior. What all led to the downfall of Mark Kingston? I never want to see a coach lose his job. I think Kingston is a competent coach who may get a chance at another program. I do agree with the dismissal. It was not working and was never going to work as far as the standard expectations in Columbia. Was never competitive in a super regionals. Usually limped into the postseason. Sometimes didn't make it. A lot of this was recruiting a lot of this was coaching. I like Landon Powell, but i am biased. I like Powell the man first , and Powell the coach second. Guys that make millions make these decisions. I love this program and i fell in love when Bobby Richardson was coaching and i used to get in free as a small child at Sarge Frye field. I hope we make a splash hire and return to prominence. Gamecock baseball is a special entity. I want to get back to Omaha and it looks like Clemson is in year two with a new coach. We need hope and optimism going foward.
The pitching was a disappointment all year. USC did not have a true 3 starter rotation. The pitching recruiting has been terrible.
I nominate Ray Tanner. Why didn't Alabama or Clemson "promote" Sabin or Dabo to AD after winning their first 2 National Championships?? Because they were in the right job.
Former Asst Head Coach Chad Holbrook, under Ray Tanner, was a huge part of the legacy and great success of the Gamecock baseball program. If memory serves me correctly; Holbrook was fired ONLY after one season, maybe two seasons. Why the hell is Mark Kingston being given such a long leash!!?? We haven’t been back to Omaha in 12 years.
We need a coach who is the baseball equivalent of Dawn Staley. The new baseball head coach won’t have the difficult burden of building the baseball program from scratch, like Dawn did with the women’s basketball program. Therefore, whoever is hired should have an immediate positive impact on Gamecock Baseball.
I agree with you Andrew. USC needs to spend the money to secure a great coach. I like Brian O’Connor as an option.

Holbrook was actually Head Coach for 5 years and after Tanner spoiled us by at least making the NCAA Tournament every year but his First…
Possibly missed out in his 3rd although SC was the SEC East Champion which makes no sense 🤷♂️

Didn't the softball coach have 26 losses also ? Seems like there's another one should be on the block also.
Depending on the coach , I do not believe that we should necessarily write a new coach a blank check. Pay should be based on merit and results. I like contracts that have many incentives to earn your pay based on results. I would like to see a young man get hired ,30-40 something. I want a young Skip Bergman. I want a guy who will love this program and brings high energy and is passionate about this special place.

Kingston’s gone! He should have been gone last year.
We have done the same thing w football.
Had a solid program....Hired an unproven HC....The Pumpers cheered "Give it time" until he had run it in the ditch....then we hired another unproven HC. The pumpers are cheering "Give it time" until it is in the ditch again. Kingston was there and so is Beamer.
Kingston had 7 YEARS!!!
Coach Beamer hasn’t had 4 “Full “ YEARS!!!🙄
Unless he drops off like MasChump I hope Coach Beamer gets 7 YEARS 😊

@@bobbysmith3196 Crack a book....Kirby was in the Rose Bowl in YEAR 2. Harbaugh was in the Orange Bowl in year 2. His lowest bowl was Outback in year 3. He consistently won 8+.
PLEASE QUIT trying o compare a guy that has never been an OC nor DC to coaching legends.
I'd be good to give Beamer time...but it needs to be earned. He is not earning it. We do not need to give extensions and put us on the financial hook again like w Muschamp. We had to settle for Beamer bc of making that stupid mistake.

We gave him a Healthy Pay Raise after his 8-4 Season!!!
