We hiked 14 days through the mountains in Norway 🇳🇴

  • Well, that's us on our first 14-day hike crossing the mountain chains on the peninsula we call home in Norway. The last years have grown a desire in me to spend longer periods in untouched nature chasing this weirdly specific peace of mind you don't find in modern regular life.
We left the farm with a 45-kilo backpack, followed by a roughly sketched route, ate simple foods, and fished for food whenever possible. All to re-discover that basic shelters, fresh water, and crispy fish satisfy you more than a well-filled credit card.

@@tilldaling That is actually really great. Several years ago I was following a long distance hiker online because I was learning things from his methods, and it was interesting to me the type of gear he carried, but he packed lightly.
I have always packed comparatively heavy. And I was not completely sold on his ideas of ultralight hiking, like cutting spoons in half and not carrying a toothbrush. To me, that was just over the top. But I finally stopped watching him the day that 2 feet of snow made him turn back. It was because he was just in shorts and a T-shirt and a 5 pound pack. No gear for snow, even though it was expected. People like that risk becoming a danger to themselves and others around them and putting search and rescue teams at an unnecessary risk. I’ve always felt that packing heavier might slow you down, but you will be better prepared for when the shit hits the fan.
