Why we bought a farm in Norway 🇳🇴
Norway is a beautiful country with clear blue fjords, more mountains than you could ever hike, a decent amount of wildlife, and endless forests.
I mean, the winters are long and dark, and the mosquitoes and biting flies will annoy the hell out of you in July, but apart from that, it is an amazing place with vast space and very few people. It is a country where you can still return to a life of less dependency, and a closer connection to nature.
At least that's what I like to think.
As a bonus, buying land and small farms in the countryside is somewhat affordable. That's why my girlfriend Thea and I bought a small farm close to a lake in the countryside of mid-Norway.
It took a childhood in a small town, 5 years of studying, and a year in Vietnam to realize what life I was truly looking for!
I couldn't find it in any other country until we came to Norway.

This video has been in the making for the last six months 🏔️ The first year at our small farm in Norway did not focus all too much on growing things. It was all about carpentry, both in the barn and at the greenhouse. Most of it was done with recycled materials, so things take a little longer... We ended up spending about 750$ on this greenhouse build. A price not many Norwegians will have hear...

    Hey Till, could you please share some info about weather in Trondheim region? We found a very nice cabin but wondering if it too windy/rainy there? The cold and darkness are not a problem but only some strong wind and everyday rain would bother us. Thank you for your time 🙏🤍

    I was there with a friend we had a go but had to turn around maybe halfway up where the sheer cliffs started and we didn`t know the route :( This trek is INSANELY steep from the very start. You won`t find any flat & level campsites to put it that way, lol and the terrain is pretty challenging. Maybe one day we will go back and try again.

    Very cool to see your journey! We are a small scale farm in Innlandet, and it is true as you say. This life looks very idyllic on the outside, but oh my gosh it is so much hard work. We moved to a farm to live the simple life, but in the last three years we have been more overworked and stressed than ever before. But it like you say, you're setting up a business, and finally now on year 4 we feel on top of things, and life is calming down. Good luck on your project!

    We created our entire vegetable garden on a nettle and kveke-grass (not sure what it is in english) field, and its been a struggle! I think we've put down 5-6 layers of cardboard, and they still find ways to grow through. But where there is nettle, the soil is very good so dont be discouraged if it takes a bit of time to get the upper hand :) Good luck with the garden! Hilsen Sara and Kieran (also a farm in Norway)

    Hei Till, tusen takk for sharing this very calming and i inspiring video! We are also looking for a cheap cabin in southern Norway but would like to have a permanen living right. Do you thing this is possible for eu citizens and an average budget of 50 000 Euro? Tried to contact some norwegia real estate agency but they do not respond. We thought it could be the lower budget... Thank you for your responce.

    • @tilldaling
      @tilldaling Місяць тому

      Those would be small farms without the need for husbandry... And on that budget, I'm afraid it is not going to be much more than a ruin or an extremely simple cabin without a permanent right to live. 100.000 plus some restorations will be more realistic :) Pretty much everything goes over Finn. And most likely and unfortunately, they might not have taken you seriously :)
